The TSB specifically warns against using generic aftermarket drain plugs, as they may have different thread depths and flange specifications that do not match the original equipment (OE) design, potentially causing leaks or damage. The correct tightening torque for the drain plug is 39 Nm (29 lb.-ft).

Drain Plug Washer Usage

The drain plug washer is designed as a one-time use crush type gasket. It is critical to always use a new drain plug washer during every Hyundai engine oil change. Reusing an old washer can lead to an improper seal and oil leaks, compromising engine lubrication.

Oil Pan Drain Hole Check

Engine Oil Refill

Refill the engine with the appropriate service grade and viscosity of engine oil as specified in the vehicle's Shop Manual. Always use the latest available API Service Grade oil. If the recommended engine oil viscosity is unavailable, the TSB advises using 5W-30 viscosity engine oil with the latest API Service Grade as an alternative. Ensure the oil level reaches the optimum fill level indicated on the dipstick.

Oil Filler Cap Tightening
