SEATS
The driver’s side seat is not secured and has slight movements in some positions and wobbles in other positions, particularly when braking . The seat does not feel secure or safe when under any hard braking. I had the dealer inspect it a few months after purchase they acknowledged it and replaced the mounting brackets to the seats and within 20 minutes the seat was loose again and the rail has a stutter in it when sliding it about 2/3rds back.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Vehicle problems experienced on 7/22/23. Traveling on Route 93 north to exit 17 just north of Concord, NH at 8:00pm. Used cruse control for most of trip, set to 60mph and 65 mph. The distance feature was working, what a PITA it is. Some where around Concord, NH a warning message in orange was displayed, “Engine speed max 4000” in center of display, an orange triangle with an “!” marked appeared just below the temperature gauge on left side of display, a yellow car with “!” on side appeared just below the estimated mileage remaining – it switched between that car and “EPC” cruse control was no longer available Stopped, checked the engine for over heating however it did not seem tooo hot, fans were not running (engine was off) Started again, lights were OFF. Rest of trip was on local roads so never tried cruse control. Left to return home around 2:00pm all warning lights OFF. Some where around Manchester, NH same thing happened plus orange picture of engine on right was illuminated, Cruse control would not maintain speed and then said unavailable. On hills vehicle would not move along with traffic even when foot was put to the floor. Drove directly to Colonial VW, did not shut vehicle OFF however nobody was available to read the computer codes. Scheduled appointment for Friday Driving home it was almost impossible to merge onto Route 93 even with accelerator pushed to floor. What ever the problem with your programming is the major fact that the vehicle is not able to keep up or merge with traffic even on local streets it a Major Hazard. VW may be concerned with saving their engine – I’m Concerned for my LIFE

Accelerator petal does not always result in acceleration from a stopped position. This causes the hill assist to hold and does not allow movement forward, resulting in an engine stall. The vehicle has also set the EPC light while traveling resulting in reduced engine power to the point of not enough power to move forward. Turn the ignition off, then on resets the EPC and limb mode.

SERVICE BRAKES
I would like to report a safety issue with my wife’s new 2023 VW Jetta sedan with standard transmission. It has a hill hold feature that clamps the brakes on for approximately three seconds after you remove your foot from the brake pedal, if you are on a hill. Three seconds is way too long and often causes the following: you see an opening to pull into traffic, move your foot to the accelerator and start letting the clutch out. The car stalls, leaving you in the middle of the road with the electronic parking brake now applied where it was not before. This is very dangerous. Both of us have been driving standard transmission vehicles for many years. Our previous VW models with standard transmissions and hill hold, as well as my present 2014 VW GTI, did not have this safety defect. They released the brakes quickly and smoothly on hills and never caused us to stall or roll back. The behavior of the 2023 Jetta was a shock to both of us. There are lots of comments online about this unacceptable behavior of hill hold. Please require VW to issue a recall to change the coding of its ABS module on these cars to release sooner. System: hill hold via ABS. Risk of collision. Not confirmed by dealer. Not inspected. Symptoms on every hill.

SERVICE BRAKES, POWER TRAIN, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Hill Assist system creates dangerous situations because it prevents me from moving right away while pulling out in traffic or in front of traffic lights, out of parking garages and stop signs. Hill Assist system often stalls the engine due to holding brakes engaged for an extended period of time even on a slight hill. With a manual transmission this makes it even worse because engine dies in these situations frequently. Dealer dismisses the issue because "there are no fault codes", but if it was manufactured incorrectly and/or calibrated improperly, no error/fault codes will come on. I have been driving manual transmissions all my life (from motorcycles to semi trucks) for over 40 years and it's clear to me that this vehicle is a safety concern with underpowered engine that cannot overcome Hill Assist. Other Hill Assist systems immediately disengage the brakes when an accelerator pedal is pressed. In this vehicle, the brake stays on and vehicle dies on even on a slightest hill. Please help investigate.

SERVICE BRAKES
The rear breaks wore down t 1MM(Dangerous Level) in under 2 years and at 26,973 miles. They extended the warranty to 2 years and 24,000 at 2mm at the end of December but we did not get notification of this to have the breaks checked. The vehicle was seen in September 2022 and the breaks were noted to be at 6MM which is not typical but not at the recommended replacement (3mm). This is a defective part and should be replaced by Volkswagen. The front breaks have been at 12 this whole time. No warnings or messages from the car. We took it in when we noticed a scraping sound from the rear breaks on 4/26/23. We were never going to meet the new warranty qualifications but were put in danger with them knowing there is a significant problem and no notification or recall on the break parts.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, a knocking sound was coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle started shaking and stalled. The contact stated that the check engine and electronic power control (EPC) warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder of the highway where the vehicle remained. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500.

On April 1, 2023 I leased a 2023 VW Jetta for 39 months. I test drove the car. Upon delivery, it had 12 miles on the car. I drove the car for 150 miles (162 TOTAL miles on car) At 11:30PM on April 6th, it left me stranded in the middle of the road. I called VW 36 month/36,000 roadside assistance for help. They asked if I was in a safe place. I told them No, I am in the middle of the road, in the middle of the night. They proceeded to tell me to call 911 and hung up on me. I then went to push the SOS button in my car, to my disbelief, “this feature is not active in your vehicle.” I called AAA. 3 hour wait. Called multiple towing agencies and was finally picked up after an hour. Tow truck driver arrived. He asked what happened. I explained. He got in the car. The emergency brake was not on, however, he had to manually take a tool to disengage the emergency brake. I had the car towed to the dealership in which I leased the car 5 days prior. It has now been almost 3 weeks and I am being told that I am responsible for a burned out clutch because warranty has been denied by VW because of “outside influences”. I talked with several mechanics and I am simply being told, I am being taken. There is NO WAY a clutch can be burned out in 150 miles. I am reaching out for help anywhere and everywhere I can because this is unacceptable. I am beyond furious and frustrated. I will keep fighting until someone helps me get through to VW about how ridiculous this claim is. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

3/3/23 My son started out onto the road outside our home. The car would not accelerate past 20 mph. The engine light flashed. My son turned around and brought the car back home. I brought the car in for service. The engine light was off and the car was able to accelerate on the way to the dealer. The dealer could not reproduce the problem. 5 codes were noted. 4/18/23. My son started home from school. The car again would not accelerate past 20 mph. The engine light flashed. The problem resolved and within a couple of minutes repeated. The car made it home and the engine light eventually went off. I brought the car in for service and the dealer could not reproduce the problem. Codes again were present. Since the dealer could not reproduce the problem no repairs were made. The problem is a huge concern because the car will not accelerate past 20mph. This is especially concerning on highway and expressway driving.

SERVICE BRAKES
The left rear brake system has a defect that has resulted in the left rear inner brake pad to wear through at an accelerated rate resulting in brake failure with no friction material left. The other three brake pads in the rear have plenty of material. Excessive sounds, a sensation of dragging in the left rear part of the car, noises from the left rear of the car after releasing the brakes at approximately 10k miles, and eventually metal-on-metal grinding noises starting around 20k miles were reported multiple times to the servicing dealership. However, the service advisor reported there was plenty of material, and that they all make such sounds, but would not actually test drive it to confirm the reported noises. By continuing to drive the vehicle in this condition, it put the occupants and others on the road at increased risk.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I've had 3 manufacturing defects on my 2021 VW Jetta, with 18,000 miles currently, the first issue was my sunglasses compartment on the ceiling of the car, the plastic latches broke by itself, The second issue my car had, multiple sensor lights went off simultaneously, shortly after my breaks started braking by themselves randomly, The dealership were I purchased the car, Payne Mission Mitsubishi Volkswagen, 2003 E Expressway 83, Mission, TX 78572 told me to leave the car at the dealership and maybe they could fix it in a month, I told them it was my primary car that I couldn't do that, they said well to be in line the car had to be physically present at the dealership, I thought about suing for breach of contract for refusing to fix it and giving me the run around, The 3rd Manufacturing defect that I had with the car, The front panel glass part number #17A8770559B9, shattered spontaneously on a rural highway with no one around me, it sounded like a gunshot when it exploded, The dealership and VW have refused to acknowledge that it is a manufacturing issue, I'm currently waiting to see if they will cover it with factory warranty, but I've been getting the run around. I'm aware that VW already had this issue brought to their attention several years back when they were sued, they have not resolved the issue. I'm asking for an immediate recall of their front panel glass and sunroof glass that was cheaply made and manufactured in Mexico. they are charging us 895$ MSRP for glass that's defected, part number #17A8770559B9. I was told by a VW Customer Service representative that a VW engineer would have to examine the glass. If your organization is unable to assist me my next course of action will be to fight this in court till the end, this is an injustice to the customers, an organization as big as Volkswagen should acknowledge the issue and address it in a courteous manner, their should be more laws/rules in ethics when it comes to car sales and mechanic shops.

SERVICE BRAKES
I purchased my Volkswagen Jetta July 2021. I had been getting my car serviced ever since at the dealership in Orange Park for routine maintenance, repairs, and recalls. There were times when I brought the vehicle to the dealership and the check engine light was on but they said nothing was wrong. I continue to complain about a noise coming from my trunk but again I was informed that nothing was wrong. March 6 2023, I went back to the dealership for the same noise but this time it was very very loud, and they informed me I needed new break pads and rotors for my vehicle totaling 555.50 before tax. I declined the service and consulted with my father who is very familiar with cars and have worked on them in the past. He explained to me that it is uncommon for a car my age to have the rear break pads and rotors worn down, and the front break pads and rotors still in good condition. I then called the service department at the dealership and asked was this a common issue among these vehicles. He said yes, and that Volkswagen has issued an extension of their break pad warranty from 1 year or 12,000 miles to 2 years or 24,000 miles. But explained to me that I was now over 26000 miles and that he would have to contact management to see what they could do. After much complaining from myself and my father, the manager agreed to place aftermarket break pads on my car no charge , but I needed to pay for the rotors. I was still very upset, but could not decline the offer because my car was in need of immediate servicing. Due to the negligence of the dealership I am out of $275 and I feel that Volkswagen should cover the complete cost of the damages to my rotors, this could have been avoided if my vehicle was properly being serviced. My life could’ve been in jeopardy because of this situation. The dealership informed me that Volkswagen sent out letters in regards to the rear break issue but I never received it. Bad handling by Volkswagen and you have lost a customer!

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, a crack in the sunroof glass was discovered. After opening the driver’s side door, the sunroof glass shattered causing shards of glass to fall into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed the contact that the sunroof glass had shattered due to an object striking the vehicle. The contact stated that no objects had impacted the sunroof glass to cause the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,000.

The car would not turn on while using the start/stop feature on three different occasions. Once at a stop sign when I wanted to reverse to make sure I was not pulled out too far into an intersection. I was stuck and could not get out of the way of a car coming. Each time I had to shut the vehicle off completely to restart the system.

Bad bearing in left front wheel. Radio shuts down anytime even when reverse camera is active. Front collision warning and auto braking for clear road, no obstruction. Smog warning override when check engine light for fuel system delivery done by mechanic at Flow VW of Greensboro NC. Car has been in shop for all of these problems and nothing has been fixed. New radio installed but it still shuts down whenever. Every repair they have done has only damaged more parts of the car.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I have driven my 2021 VW Jetta about 56,000 miles. Literally the whole time I have owned this car the check engine light has been on for an evaporative emissions issue. I have brought it into the dealer about six times. They have replaced everything associated with this system at least once and have done a software update. During my last visit, they reported that they had a conversation with VW and said “VW does not have a fix for this." We will let you know when they do.” I owned a diesel VW involved in diesel-gate scandal. This is the same, but different. Instead of hiding the problem, they are ignoring the problem. Clearly, VW needs a higher authority to make this a priority, fine them, or force them to buy these cars back. The car will soon be useless, unable to be inspected, because the check engine light is on. They gave me one complementary inspection already. I’m sure they cheated; passing the inspection when the check engine light was on. Please call if I can assist further. Once the check engine light is cleared, it will be back on within a day. I encouraged a friend to buy a Jetta. He has the same issue with his 2021 Jetta, VIN[XXX] It was purchased at a different dealer many months after I bought mine. Both dealers have indicated that other Jettas have the same problem. I understand that a problem can come up.
