The tailgate can be easily dislodged from hinge when lifting from the passenger side of tailgate leading to it coming out of the C Hinge and hurting individual not expecting the full weight of tailgate coming off. No injuries luckily happened at the time of incident other than minor cosmetic damage from where the tailgate hit. I have video recreating what happened to describe the incident better but lack of hinge protection could result in serious injury if this occurs again.

Toyota has two recalls on my 2023 tundra. One is from August 10, 2023 and the other is from May 30, 2024. The first can cause a fuel leak and the second can cause engine failure while driving. i got this truck in 2022. i am wondering what has to happen before something will be done to fix theses recalls or I have to go through some changes before this is handled. I do not need any accidents before anything is done to fix my situation

Brakes were bad and squeaky from the first week I received the vehicle, Toyota claims it’s a known issue but for the past 6 months says the parts are on back order. The brakes are getting worse and worse.

The vehicle intermediately has poor throttle response resulting in unsafe driving conditions. The poor throttle response occurs when taking off from a start as well as when accelerating at highway speeds. I nearly got into an accident today changing lanes on a highway as a vehicle was approaching at a rapid speed. The truck failed to accelerate for 3-5 seconds which is unacceptable. When I applied throttle the truck actually slowed down. This condition is sporadic which makes it more dangerous.

I am currently leasing this 2023 Toyota Tundra Platinum and after about six I noticed that there was a delay in the throttle engaging and it felt like the truck bogged down. I asked the sales associate whom I bought the vehicle from if this was normal, and she said it was a normal safety feature. I have brought up a complaint with Toyota since November of 2023 about it and since then I have had my kids in the truck and there are multiple situations where i have had to cross traffic, go around someone on the highway almost being rearended because the vehicle does not engage and go as needed ultimately almost causing multiple wrecks. Toyota mechanics have ridden with me so I can show them, and they also have noticed the delay, and they have no answer for me. After researching the internet, I am not the only one having this issue with the 2022-2023 tundra. Here recently I have noticed that when you go from breaking to a stop and then go straight to the gas pedal there is a hesitation and then surge from the vehicle which I feel is also very unsafe. All I am asking is for the vehicle to be replaced so my family is safe. Please help me in any possible because Toyota will not.

I came upon a hairpin turn on a country road in North Georgia. I applied brakes hard as was driving at 42 mph (according to engineering report). I made the turn without sliding and not colliding with anything when my side curtain airbags deployed. I hit nothing and no damage whatsoever with exception of nearly $10,000.00 interior damage from airbag deployment.

2023 Tundra 39k miles. Engine shut off randomly while driving at 65 MPH. Was able to pull to the side of the road. Turned it off then back on and it was like nothing had happened. Pretty heavy traffic where it happened. Really dangerous.

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving uphill at approximately 10 MPH, a loud abnormal sound was coming from the bottom of the vehicle. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road and inspected the vehicle when a bystander informed that three bearings were seen detaching from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer Flagstaff of Toyota where the vehicle was diagnosed that the CV axle was torn apart due to the lift kit previously installed. The contact was advised that the lift kit was not original equipment manufactured therefore causing the CV axle to fail and needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that when informing Anaheim Toyota of what had occurred they stated that the lift kit was the original manufacturer's equipment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,900.

On 10/18/2024 as I was driving my 2023 Toyota Tundra the engine quit running,after coasting to the burm of the road I got out and check the oil and found it full. I then tried to restart it and it sounded like the bottom half of the engine was coming apart. I had it towed to a nearby Toyota dealer,when they looked at the oil it had metal in it. I had to obtain a rental car under customer pay until the dealer determined what had happened,they informed me that they found a substantial amount of metal in the oil pan,just like the 96000 Toyota tundra’s that have been recalled due to this issue. I requested a new engine,a new truck or a buyback of my truck,I was later contacted by the service manager for the dealership and was told the would be doing a short block rebuild of this engine. My issue with this solution is that it was caused by the same issue that the 96000 other Toyota Tundra’s hav been recalled for and Toyota has informed me my warranty doesn’t qualify me for a new engine replacement. Common sense should be my engine should qualify for the same solution those other Toyota Tundras. I am filing this complaint because TOYOTA refuses to help me in any way,and the value of my truck will be negatively effected by their decision.

This vehicle is a safety hazard. Whenever you come to a slow roll or a complete stop and you try to accelerate out it will lag anywhere from one to three seconds and by the time you’re getting in front of other cars, it will sometimes cause them to slow down so they don’t hit me. Please force Toyota to get a remedy for this as I do not want to be in an accident and die or have anybody hit me and die. Thank you.

There is extreme lag when attempting to accelerate. There can be 1-2 seconds after pushing the gas petal before the engine responds and starts to accelerate the vehicle. It’s been apparent much more so when coming to a slow stop vs a harder braking stop. This lag has caused me to come close to several collisions. Such as when turning left in front of oncoming traffic. The truck moves a few feet into the oncoming lane just from momentum, but no acceleration from the petal push, until 1-2 seconds later. And by then I’m panicking and have pushed the petal all the way down so when the acceleration starts it’s full acceleration and can spin the tires or over accelerate dangerously. It forced me to drive so cautiously that this type of driving is dangerous itself.

Engine seems to stall at acceleration from low speed. Basically, a dead pedal response. For instance, upon slowing down to near stop to enter a roundabout or an unmarked 4 way intersection(yield to enter intersection without stopping) vehicle has noticed throttle lag. Any attempt to accelerate even mildly into the roundabout or intersection results in a dead pedal for a second or two. No response from engine, truck feels like it’s going to die. I’ve been nearly hit multiple times by other vehicles as my vehicle is not moving when it should. Very dangerous. This is a daily occurrence. Dealer was unhelpful.

This is my 4th time filling out this form. Fuel gauge and miles to empty will reset with the fuel gauge reading full and the miles to empty recalculating without putting fuel in the vehicle. My computer owners online account shows I have a fuel level of 153%.This truck has 2781 miles on it. The fuel gauge has reset itself 6 times in that mileage. Have now contacted Toyota Customer fulfillment and now have a case number for the problem. My dealer then contacted me within an hour of getting that case number. Will now hopefully being getting closer to a solution.
