POWER TRAIN
Severe throttle hesitation/lag when accelerating from a rolling stop for at least 2 seconds. This has happened at least 20 times since purchasing the vehicle in September 2024. On a few occasions, I had to abort acceleration completely to avoid an accident. It’s a very dangerous situation, especially with my family in the vehicle. I have noticed that putting the gear selector into ‘S’ manual mode seems to help considerably, therefore, this appears to be some form of a TCM problem. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they said that it performs like similar trucks. This problem is embarrassing and dangerous, and it needs an expeditious resolution.

I experience delayed throttle response and throttle lag daily. Acceleration is unpredictable. The vehicle barely moves in some cases when pressing the gas pedal. Other times, the tires will chirp. The vehicle will sometimes hesitate so long to accelerate, that I've almost been T-boned and I've held up traffic. It seems like the truck thinks I'm going to run into something, even when there's nothing in front of me. The delay is sometimes 3-5 seconds before it will allow any acceleration. This seems like a huge safety issue, not being able to get out of the way of oncoming traffic and having such an unpredictable, and often delayed throttle response.

Throttle Lag/Hesitation when starting from a standstill. Same also occurs when slowly going up a hill, letting off throttle and then back on throttle - engine no response and causes vehicle to roll backwards before engine/transmission catch on again. No service center has looked at this issue yet.

When completing a slow down, when going to accelerate there is a noticeable delay in the engine responding and before actual acceleration. This typically results in the need to press the pedal hard and suddenly it finally accelerates and at times spins the tires, almost uncontrollably. This has caused many near misses when trying to cross oncoming traffic, or entering traffic of a busy road or hwy. There have been no warning lights or indicators of any issues. This can be repeated on demand and even the dealership service tech has felt and acknowledged it. It is a common issue across the Gen 3 Tundras (2022+) models as found across many forums and owners.

According to Toyota, the 2022-2026 Tundra is compatible with 35x11.5 tires. These tires were installed by the dealer before my purchase. However, during turns, the tires heavily rub against the sway bar. This issue may be specific to the TRD upgrade package, which includes an upgraded, thicker sway bar. After driving for just 500 miles, noticeable rub marks have developed on both sides of the sway bar and visible marks on the inside of the tire. Tire rubbing can lead to faster tire wear and may even cause the tire to break during operation if the damage continues over time. I have reported this to Toyota Customer service and all they say they do is file a report.

Over the course of ownership I have had frequent instances of loss of power and/or lack of acceleration resulting in almost stalling out while trying to take off. This causes dangerous situations when trying to pull out into traffic because you never know when the vehicle might hesitate and crest unsafe distances between you and other moving vehicles.

Making a right turn from a stop. I pressed the accelerator and the vehicle barely moved. Cars were coming in my direction and I had to move. I let off the accelerator quickly pressed the accelerator again. The vehicle did start moving at normal rate. This first attempt was very concerning and almost caused me to get in an accident.

The truck will hesitate for a brief second while trying to accelerate from both stop and in drive where it'll jolt you forward. This will also happen when shifting into driving and it jolts you forward. This is a huge safety risk because my truck can stall when i need the truck to go. I have brought it up to the dealership which told me multiple times as "normal". No lights has popped up but I know my other cars doesn't stall when giving gas.

WHEELS
Both front tires have premature wear to the outer edge. Additionally, all four tires have warned to 3/32" with less than 30,000 miles on them. Vehicle has been serviced by Toyota every 5,000 miles. All components have been inspected and per Toyota the vehicle alignment is within spec per manufacture. That being the case, the tires shouldn't wear unless there is a manufacture defect. Toyota nor Falken wants to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the defect of the OEM equipment. Toyota has a TSB for the Tundra alignment with 18" tires but refuse to add trucks with the 20" tires. They keep pointing the finger at each other leaving the customer with zero resolution. Others have replaced the tires but having the same issue reoccur. This is a safety concern as premature wear can contribute to poor cornering in curves, turns, and handling in wet or icy conditions.

Engine locked up on the highway at 70mph. It’s Known issue but as it’s a hybrid they said no recall. It makes no sense as I lost power and if I was passing a semi or on a hill I would have been in trouble and risked causing an accident. I was lucky to be on a downhill and near a ramp. The hybrids need to be recalled and this problem creates a real risk.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer or an independent mechanic. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The VIN was included in the recall, but the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 31,000.

My 2023 Toyota Tundra has an intermittent issue where the throttle lags or hesitates when accelerating from a complete stop. The problem occurs unpredictably and causes the truck to fail to respond when pressing the gas pedal. The issue appears to be related to the engine or throttle response system, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the hesitation can occur while turning left across traffic or merging into traffic, leaving the truck momentarily stalled in the path of oncoming vehicles. The problem has not yet been officially reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center, but it has happened multiple times under normal driving conditions. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indicators before or during the hesitation; it happens without any prior notice.

Transmission hesitation when starting from a stop/ stop sign. Will take 1-2 seconds before transmission kicks in after coming to a stop and then proceeding with no one else in the intersection. Happens about 95% of the time. Has put me in a few near- misses where I expected the truck to get out before oncoming traffic. a similar issue occurs when starting on an incline- press the accelerator and it takes a few seconds for the transmission to catch up. Ongoing issue since about 7, 000 miles. Seems to be getting worse

I have experienced consistent vehicle jerking since the time of purchase, despite acquiring the vehicle brand new. This jerking typically manifests when maintaining a constant speed between 35-40 mph. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally exhibits a complete lack of acceleration. A particularly concerning incident occurred when I was attempting a left turn from a side road onto a main street with a 40 mph speed limit. Despite assessing sufficient time for the maneuver, the vehicle stalled for approximately one second upon acceleration, leaving me in the middle of the lane with approaching traffic. Similar instances of delayed acceleration have been observed when attempting sudden acceleration after a rolling stop.
