SUSPENSION
2011 Tacoma, 4x4. Leaf spring is broken on the passenger side. 130,000 miles. According to Toyota my vin is not included under recall 14V-604. I do believe this is either an error or deliberate oversight to avoid responsibility. Manufacturer date 05/11 so according to the recall notice it falls within the date range but not the effected Vins.

The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an unusual burning odor in the interior of the vehicle. The contact's wife, who was seated in the front passenger's seat, noticed a fire in the power switch area of the rear driver's door. The contact then parked the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire with a jug of water that was in the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. In addition, the manufacturer requested an inspection of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
The contact stated that while driving in the rain, when passing another vehicle, the vehicle began shuddering and experienced a loss of power. The check engine light illuminated and multiple other warning indicators. The vehicle pulled over to the vehicle was stopped and eventually restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer were it was diagnosed with an air intake failure. Shortly after, the vehicle experienced the same issue. Again and was returned to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed with a turbo mud and water found inside the air intake, water is covering the filter and there was no additional repairs that could be completed so the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 19,600.

The interior driver side door handle on my 2025 Toyota Tacoma failed and wouldn't open the door from the inside. I had to roll down my window to open from the outside. The dealership replaced the handle assembly under warranty. This happened at around 9300 miles on the odometer.

Interior drivers side door handle broken. I thought it was the locking mechanism having issues and i had to hold the locking plastic tab in the unlock position to open the door from the inside. After the 3rd time exiting my tacoma the door handle snapped. Now i how to open the door from the outside by rolling down the window, making it inconvenient in the rain.

am filing this complaint regarding a power steering rack leak on my [2018] Toyota Tacoma with [83,000] miles, which I purchased used three months ago from Fred Anderson Toyota of Greer in South Carolina. The dealer represented the vehicle as having passed a 160-point inspection and implied CPO-level standards, but it was not actually Certified Pre-Owned. The steering rack is now leaking power steering fluid, with visible accumulation in the boots, despite stable fluid levels in the reservoir during my ownership. This issue appeared very shortly after purchase, raising concerns that it was a pre-existing defect. Power steering leaks can lead to loss of assist and increase crash risk if they worsen. I request that NHTSA investigate whether this represents a safety defect affecting Toyota Tacomas, as similar complaints appear common in owner forums

The plastic coolant crossover valve or pipe failed at 66,000 miles and 5 years of usage. This led to the radiator cracking. After researching online, I read about thousands of Tacoma 3rd generation users with the same issue. Also, the same issue was recalled for several other models of Toyotas but not the Tacoma.

Component/system: Rear tires — traction and wet-weather grip performance. Tires are available for inspection upon request. Tire size: 265/70R16 Four BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A 265/70R16 112T all-season tires were purchased new and professionally installed at a retail warehouse tire center in August 2025. The vehicle is a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. Approximately nine months after installation, both rear tires began exhibiting severely degraded traction during heavy rain conditions on paved roads. On at least one occasion, the rear of the vehicle broke loose during a normal turn at low to moderate speed in heavy rain, resulting in a near-loss-of-vehicle-control incident. The front tires, from the same set and installation, did not exhibit the same level of traction loss during the same conditions, suggesting the failure is concentrated in the rear axle tires. Safety risk: The rear tire traction failure created a sudden and unexpected vehicle handling instability on a public road. The near-loss-of-vehicle-control incident posed a direct risk of collision to the driver and other road users. Dealer/service confirmation: The problem has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or service center — a tire center inspection appointment is scheduled. Results will be available following that appointment. Manufacturer/police/insurance inspection: The vehicle and tires have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Real bumper assembly rotted off the frame was dragging behind the truck I'm at 60mph luckily nobody was behind me pulled over and removed it all both frame rails was rusted in half Hanging On by a little piece every place I called will not fix it want me to buy a whole frame truck has 220 miles on it with no rear bumper

Got oil changed and they found frame is rusted out. Called Toyota corp and they said they sent a notice to have it looked at on 04/12/2020 but we never received anything. This truck has always been garaged and we bought it new and has only 78148 miles. They refused to do anything.

The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving, the engine revved lightly. Over time the vehicle began to lunge forward, and the revving had become more intense. The RPM increased and revved. While reversing, the vehicle lunged. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to the map sensor and throttle body. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

SUSPENSION
My son was driving the 2000 Toyota Tacoma across very smooth transition railroad tracks at about 25 mph and the right front ball joint failed, collapsing the suspension. He lost all control and the vehicle skidded to a stop. Had he been going any faster, the vehicle could have rolled over. I have reviewed the recalls for Toyota ball joints and found the there is a 50J recall for 2001-2005 Tacomas. Interestingly enough, the trucks/Tacomas from 1995-2000 have the same ball joint but were not included in the recall. I have tried to work with Toyota directly on this matter and they don't seem to want to help me. This is a safety issue and should be elevated to recall levels for all vehicles with this ball joint.

WHEELS, STEERING, STRUCTURE:BODY
On 2 seperate occassions I had a wheel on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma come off while driving. Both after Toyota signed off on work orders and bill of sales showing they accessed the wheels. On 4/11/26 the front left drivers side fell off. Upon picking it up after repairs on April 28, May 6th the left rear wheel fell off while driving again. My safety could have been fatal but luckily no injuries for me and a passanger occurred. Toyota used a Certified Toyota body shop to do the repairs on the first incident not sure who worked on the 2nd as I have not yet been notified the truck is ready. The manufacturer has done all the inspecting no other parties have been involved. No warning. Right before each incident the truck would shake then skid along the floor causing sparks.
