Rav 4 2024 Mileage 44,780 Got off work and started car and drove home no issues was driving in the rain for about 30 mins. I get home and park and my car is sitting for a minute. Then it started to idle strange/ shaking and I see the rpms are jumping between 1k-2k I try to give it gas and nothing happens. I end up turning the car off and back on and the car starts but sputters/shakes and turns right off this happens multiple times. I leave it alone and start it 30 mins later it starts but is shaking very badly. I turn it off and call for a tow to the dealership. I go back and start it an hr later it starts fine and runs fine. I get it towed to the dealership and they keep it for 1 1/2 days they find nothing wrong saying everything is running the way it is designed to run. I go and pick it up and they state they completely inspected and drove multiple times there is nothing going wrong. I take the car and drive it for 3 mins around the block then park the car engine shuts off on its own but everything is still on message states engine stopped power steering low. Took it back the dealership has no idea what’s going wrong. This is a concern because it can happen while driving and the car will stop on its own and cause an accident. This needs to be addressed due to the dealership not knowing what is going on and it being a safety concern.

Impact is to software. Apple car play is malfunctioning. Will not allow bluetooth calls while apple car play is active. Phone will continue to ring on screen however, and will not be able to take call handsfree while driving. Call will not allow communication from driver to caller, only can hear caller. Concerns have been ongoing since May.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving or idling, the pre-collusion, RSA malfunction, Headlight system malfunction, and LTA system malfunction will go off as well as my navigation on my screen. Its been going on and off for 7 months now. It works, then it doesn't. I don't want to take it in because I know they're famous for making me pay high dollar fees for anything and everything. Toyota is horrible for their services and just want the money. I never had any issues with my car until I got a nail in my tire that was an easy fix (that they also wanted to keep my car overnight for a patch).

The power rear liftgate will close on a person or object and cannot be stopped except if one presses on a very specific part of the edge of the liftgate, towards its center. This happens no matter how much upward force is applied to the area of the pull handles and the edges. When my wife pulled the handle, the liftgate closed with force that she could not resist. This obviously creates a serious safety hazard for small children, pets, or really anyone trying to close the liftgate or who may have inadvertently hit the button or pulled the handle.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
The display panel keeps going blank. I called the dealer months ago to notify them and was told they have not been notified of ANY recalls!!! I called two weeks ago to be told there IS a recall but nothing is available to correct this issue! The backup camera is useless at times. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!! In addition, I drive for a living and my car is used for work solely for my business. I cannot access the GPS feature. I purchased this RAV4 solely for my business. When will this issue be corrected? Disappointed consumer!

The vehicle's CarPlay is malfunctioning, showing incorrect vehicle location and navigation directions. The vehicle's screen often shows incorrect location and directions, and changes directions as it updates where it thinks the car is. This is available for inspection upon request. The safety of the driver and passengers is put at risk because the screen showing incorrect location and directions causes a constant distraction, taking your eyes away from the road to figure out if the map is showing you the correct location or not. Sometimes, when the carplay is looking for the correct location, the map spins around and shifts location which is also distracting even when you try to ignore it. The consistent distraction this causes while trying to navigate through unknown streets has caused both my wife and I to get lost, take the wrong turns, or get stressed and confused while driving because we don't know what the directions are telling us, or we don't know if we are following the right directions. We are worried we will hit a car or person during these times of confusion. This has been repeated multiple times at Toyota dealership and is a known issue acknowledged by Toyota corporate. The vehicle has been inspected by Toyota's regional technician who installed an unreleased software update at my last visit, but the problem persists without improvement. There isn't a warning sign. I have requested a replacement or reimbursement for this vehicle from Toyota but their Dispute Resolution team says I have not given enough opportunity for Toyota to repair the car. I then brought the car back in and they kept it for three weeks and installed an unreleased software update. The loaner car they provided me was the same car different year and had no carplay issues. I am trying to bring it back but the dealership cancelled my appointment telling me they won't accept the car because they can't fix it. I am trying to escalate again to corporate.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH into a parking space, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration three times and crashed into a guard pipe. No warning light was illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. The front passenger's side seat belt was loose and failed to restrain the contact's husband in his seat. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat belt failed to retract after the crash. The contact and her husband did not sustain any injuries, and no medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but had not yet been diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that an engineer would inspect the Event Data Recorder (EDR) in three months. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

Faulty instrument panel keeps going on and off. It will reset itself and then do it again like it’s trying to fix itself. But then we’ll go on and off again it’s been doing it for about six months now we’ve been putting off by telling someone because we thought it might straighten up and when we keep looking up recalls, it says there’s no recall on it.

Vehicle: 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Issue: Persistent brake noise, safety hazard, manufacturer negligence I leased a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid from Clermont Toyota (Florida). Well before reaching 5,000 miles, the brakes began squealing and grinding, posing a potential safety hazard. Multiple service visits failed to correct the issue. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and its distributor, Southeast Toyota Distributors LLC, have long been aware of this defect, as documented in Technical Service Bulletin TSB-0001-22 and numerous NHTSA consumer reports describing similar brake failures and noises in 2019–2023 RAV4 models. Despite repeated notice, Toyota refused to repair or replace the defective vehicle and denied my Lemon Law claim through an arbitration panel connected to manufacturer counsel. This unresolved brake defect creates danger to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. Toyota’s continued sale and lease of vehicles with known braking issues constitute a serious public safety concern. I request that NHTSA investigate Toyota’s knowledge of these defects, evaluate the adequacy of its response, and consider a recall to protect consumers nationwide. After driving for 35 minutes (in the rain), I pulled up to work and let someone out. While car was sitting there in park, it bucked in the back, I then put it into park and almost immediately, it shut off with this on the display "Engine Off, Steering Power Low, Do Not Drive". My lights and windshield wipers remained on. I tried to turn it back and and it shut off again. I waited a few minutes, turned it on and went to pull out onto main road and the car shut off again with the same message. Thankfully I was turning onto the main road so close to shoulder and able to keep my car pretty close to side of the road. I called the Toyota dealer who told me not to drive it and it would need to be towed. I towed it to the closest dealer and when they checked the codes (the next day), they said there were no codes and they could not replicate the problem. As a note, the rain was off and on, nothing that was worse than anything I have driven in previously. I drive main roads and did not go through any large puddles or anything similar. This is a major safety issue and I am terrified that it could happen while driving on a highway where I may not have time to get out of the way of other traffic (car literally stopped with no option of continuing to coast). I am also shocked that there were NO codes triggered as there was obviously some event and that the car is only one month outside of warranty.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Rav4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V595000 (Electrical system); however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for service, the contact inquired about the unrepaired repair. The contact was advised not to drive the vehicle because of the safety concerns. In addition, the contact was informed that if the failure occurred while driving the vehicle, the instrument cluster would be disabled. The contact was informed that the safety features would not be available because of the unrepaired recall. The contact was not satisfied with the information. The contact was very frightened to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was the only means of transportation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure regarding the unrepaired recall repair.

Driving on a city portion of Highway 69 between Prescott and Prescott Valley, traveling about 45mph, the panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded. There was no one near us and the road is newly paved so no obstacles. Glass shards rained down on us. This happened on a normal day about 75 degrees. Totally unexpected. I did sustain a cut on a finger. This could have harmed one of us with flying glass. We have contacted our insurance company and directed us to a collision compare place. In checking online, I see that others have experienced the same problem and there are lawsuits about this issue.

I was driving on the highway and my panoramic moonroof spontaneously shattered. It sounded like a gunshot and I didn't realize what had happened until I was able to pull over and examine my car several minutes later. I was very shaken up from the noise and knowing something was wrong with my vehicle but not knowing what happened. As far as I know I didn't have anything hit my vehicle/sunroof and I was driving on a stretch of road with no tree cover at the time. I had the inside sliding part of the moonroof closed so all of the broken glass was contained in there, but if it had been open the broken glass would've fallen all over my head while driving. When looking up information on this online I can see that several people have had similar issues and there looks to be a class action lawsuit in progress about this problem. https://lemberglaw.com/class-actions/gamez-v-toyota-motor/ The sound of the glass shattering was alarming in itself, and also any glass on the roof needs to be laminated to reduce the risk of accidents caused by glass falling on people if they don't have the inside slider closed to catch it.

The contact owned a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that his wife had just parked the vehicle in front of the business and was about to move the shift gear lever to park(P), when the vehicle accelerated independently, jumped the cement parking block, and crashed into a tree, where it came to a stop. None of the air bags were deployed. The contact suffered minor injuries; had a bruise on the right breast, back pain, chest pain, and lower neck pain that did not require medical attention. The police were not notified. The vehicle was towed to a collision center, and the insurance company then towed to vehicle to another collision center where the vehicle was declared a total loss. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000.

The first time I was stopped at a red light and the car started acting like it was missing and then it shut off this was during rain the message on the dash said engine stopped steering power low. The next time this happened I was parking it a parking lot and the engine did the same it rpm started going up and down like it was missing then it shut off and showed the message engine stopped steering power low this was also during rain after I had been driving in the rain. After about 20 minutes both times the car would start and drive as normal. I have looked online and multiple people have had the same issue.
