Vehicle was delivered in late January, 2022. In Mid March, 2022, the Transmission started bypassing at intervals. The dealer could not replicate the problem with no codes available. The vehicle has been in the dealership at least 6 times with no results. Also, on a trip to Colorado, the transmission down shifted on one occasion, that was so loud because of an internal bang. Turned off the vehicle and it reset. This is a recurring problem that needs to be fixed. The Dealership has always been helpful, but Ram will only help through their Star Group. My previous Ram 2500 had the same problem, but also, would not throw a code. It was finally fixed after 4-6 visits and the shifting solenoids were replaced, which worked.

The contact owns a 2021 Ram 2500. The contact stated that upon driving several miles and refueling the vehicle, he noticed that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) additive gauge remained stuck in the same position. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure and that the failure would persist even after the repair. Upon investigating the failure, the contact discovered that the failure mainly occurred in cold weather due to the DEF additive crystallization in cold temperatures, causing the additive gauge to be stuck in the same position. A message indicating to add a DEF additive in the vehicle for safety was displayed. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the tailgate latch had fractured due to cold weather and had been replaced three times by the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

This truck was sold with a snow plow prep pack but after installing a snow plow the frame of the truck bent due to the pressure. Ram has redesigned their frame as of this model year 2021 and it is not capable of handling a plow. I know of three trucks in my local area that this has happened to and ram wont admit the problem now these trucks are being traded. people out there will be buying trucks with bent frames not knowing it.

Brand new Ram 2500 Diesel caught fire after about 1100 miles. Best I can tell it started around the alternator. Made a low “whirring” or “humming” noise during a few short drives just prior to the event that had not happened before. I was just parking when I noticed smoke coming from under the hood and opened it up to find a small fire involving the alternator and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. The fire department came out and ensured it was extinguished and then a fire investigator came out and conducted an investigation. Took three days to get the dealership to accept the truck being towed back so it can be investigated by manufacturer.
