April 2 I was driving to an appt got off on access road and as I pulled up behind another vehicle the acceleration was faster than the pressure on the pedal warranted and the emergency stop-braking warning came on. After it was safe to proceed to my destination I proceeded to a parking spot as I turned to pull in the vehicle rapidly accelerated on its on and jumped the side walk. I attempted to brake but the pedal went to the floor with no braking and the engine was red lining as we crashed. My passenger pushed the engine off button. Front passenger tire was sheered off. No air bag deployment and vehicle likely totalled.

Vehicle Year/Make/Model: 2023 Nissan Frontier Defect Description: The wiring harness connected to the brake stop lamp switch on 2023 Nissan Frontier vehicles contains a design or manufacturing defect that causes premature switch failure. The defect results in the switch overheating and burning out, evidenced by visible charring and sooty residue inside the switch housing. Upon failure, the brake lights may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, removing a critical safety signal for following drivers. Nissan has acknowledged this defect and issued Technical Service Bulletin NTB22-084. However, owners whose vehicles have exceeded the 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty threshold are required to bear the full cost of repair out of pocket, despite the defect being a known manufacturing issue. Safety Hazard: Failure of the brake stop lamp switch renders the vehicle's rear brake lights inoperative. This creates a significant safety risk to the vehicle's occupants, following drivers, and the general public — particularly under low-visibility conditions such as nighttime driving, inclement weather, or high-traffic situations. In my personal incident, switch failure occurred without prior warning while traveling at approximately 50 mph on a state highway. A warning light did illuminate, but only after the switch had already failed. At that speed and location, safely moving off the roadway was not immediately possible, placing myself and other motorists in a hazardous situation.

At around 9000 miles, the dealership had to replace the front rotors and brakes due to rotors cracking and warping. Now at 22,000 miles I’m having the same issue and I only do normal driving. There is obviously something wrong with the breaking system in the front of this vehicle. when I press the brakes, the steering wheel shakes.

Since I purchased my 2022 Nissan Frontier, I have experienced recurring issues where, periodically while driving, all the indicator lights appear on the digital screen (as shown in the attached photo). When this happens, all the advanced driver assistance systems become nonfunctional, including cruise control, ABS brakes and radar detection. These incidents have occurred while driving on the highway. Over time, I brought the vehicle in for service, but the technicians indicated they could not find anything wrong. My frustration grew as the problem started occurring more frequently, especially when I was in the car with my wife and kids. This is a serious safety concern. I recently took the vehicle to the dealer again (March 2, 2026), where I was charged almost $500 for them to "reboot" the vehicle and assure me it was fixed. However, the issue reoccurred the very next day. For the first time, I am formally reporting this problem in hopes that something can be done. I am taking it back again this Monday. I do not feel comfortable selling the vehicle knowing it has this unresolved issue. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide, and you may contact me if you wish Thank you.

The light turned green. The truck got up to fourth gear and slipped all the lights on the dash lit up so I took it to the first transmission shop where they said transmission just went out at 75,140 miles pretty much the exact mileage for my first service according to the book in the glove box I took it to Nissan dealership where they said it was the shift selector needed to be changed for a total of $1600. I had it done. I drove it a half a mile down the road and it did it again. They said they drove it over 14 miles with no problem but my odometer says different now they’re telling me I need a new transmission for $9214.03. I’ve done a lot of research and googled other people having the same problem. I called Nissan corporation they offered to pay 60% for a new transmission. This tells me they know something is wrong with it. After taxes I will have spent over $11,800 for a new transmission at 75,000 miles. This should not have happened.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was pushed into a nearby lot with the assistance of bystanders. The vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, the failure could not able to be replicated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred within the week. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that undisclosed wires need to be cleaned. The wires were cleaned but the failure reoccurred approximately 2-3 weeks later. The vehicle was again towed to the same dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred a week and a half later. The vehicle was not diagnosed and or repaired again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

On 1/27/26, at or about 1:00 AM driving NB on Hwy 99,south of Bakersfield, Ca.i encountered dense fog with visibility down to zero. While driving cautiously my steering wheel became locked up and I had no control of steering and the vehicle kept slowly going forward. I finally managed to stop vehicle as traffic had come to a stop. The driver in vehicle in front of me yelled out what’s wrong with your truck. I yelled back that my steering wheel locked up on me and had no way to turn. The driver informed me to turn the vehicle off and then to turn it back on. This procedure unlocked my steering wheel. The driver informed me to stay behind him as he would guide me to next Hwy exit in case my steering wheel locked up again. We both made it safely to exit Hwy 99 at Panama Lane, Bakersfield Ca. I drove the truck safely home and scheduled an appointment with Nissan dealership Bakersfield, Ca on 1/29/26. The dealership could not duplicate the problem or give me a reasonable explanation why the steering wheel locked up. This incident could have had tragic results which could have caused death with huge vehicle pileups. I was with my wife when this incident occurred and she is very scared and concerned should this mechanical or electrical failure happen again. On 1/27/26, a 43 vehicle pileup occurred on Hwy 58 east of Bakersfield, Ca. Due to dense fog. Please feel free to contact should you need further information. I can be reached at [XXX] . I purchased this truck new. On many occasions while trying to accelerate from a stopped position there is a few second delay before the car will move. This in my opinion is a serious condition because when you think you can move into traffic the car won't move. This could cause a serious accident. I brought this to the attention of the nissan service center several times only to be told that it a characteristic of the transmission. In other words the transmission is searching for the right gear to engage before the car will move. I checked on line and found that other people are having the same problem. Please advise.. Thank you

- #11711159January 15, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On December 29th 2025 I was driving the vehicle in a residential area approximately 40 MPH. The Interior ABS warning lights illuminated. I could here a banging noise coming from the back of the Vehicle. I took the vehicle to a Nissan Dealership who inspected it and said the entire rear braking system including rotors bubs sensors and axle were damaged and needed to be replaced. The dealership stated the parking brake was engaged while the vehicle was being driven. Never has the parking brake on that vehicle been engaged manually since I purchased it 1 year ago. Cost to repair is $6000 not covered by warranty. Clearly driving a vehicle in a mountain region with a completely destroyed rear brake system is dangerous. A vehicle that inadvertently engages the emergency brake is dangerous. And even being able to operate the vehicle with the emergency brake engaged id dangerous.

Purchased new 12.12.25, drove 3 miles and heard clunk in transmission, went into limp mode at mile 23. Flatbed back to dealer, they replaced Solenoid valve and said was good to drive. Drove away and still have loud clunk in transmission on downshifting. 1.5.26 Dealer still has vehicle, no resolution

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving uphill, the vehicle vibrated. The contact stated that the vibration increased as the contact decelerated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission parking pawl and the transmission control module had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the dealer advised that the clutch might need to be repaired, but the contact advised the dealer to wait until the clutch displayed signs of failure. The contact stated while driving four months after the vehicle was repaired, the vehicle vibrated when the RPMs decreased, and the vehicle operated as intended when the RPMs increased. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the transmission fluid was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer for the clutch repair. While at the dealer, the contact was informed that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost. The failure was progressively worsening. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

I was traveling on the highway doing 70 mph in the left lane when warning lights started appearing on the dash. The first light was an ABS light. 5 minutes later the truck completely died. I was able to coast across the right hand lane and make my way into the shoulder. With the vehicle completely shut down, I had lost power steering and brake effectiveness. Fortunately, traffic was light and I was able to avoid other vehicles. I was unable to restart the vehicle and had to have it towed to a Nissan dealer. It took them 2 months to diagnose and repair the issue. In the end, the cause was that a hole developed on top of the muffler. The heat escaping the hole was able to pass through an inspection hole in the frame and melt the electrical chassis wiring harness running through it. Parts replaced included: ECM (computer), IPDM (electrical distribution module), engine harness, chassis harness, and muffler.
