Issue 1 - Engine had a rough idle - dealer investigation found that the "upper engine mount had collapsed completely allowing the engine to rest on the housing". This problem occurred at 52 months from new vehicle purchase at 24,165 miles (warranty is 4 years, 50,000 miles). The vehicle was never in an accident, nor drive rough. No warning lamps or other indicators occurred. An internet search has identified this to be a common problem. I believe that the engine provides front end stability for a frontal crash, and any issue with the retention of the engine in such a situation would constitute a safety issue. I believe that Mini has a poor design, where all the stresses and loads that the engine sees are not included in the motor mount design - a fundamental safety issue - that should be part of a recall, or at a minimum a factory covered repair item for longer than the standard warranty. Issue 2 - At the same time I brought the car to the dealer for Issue 1 above, I identified an issue with the steering - steering had a dead spot where it was unclear if steering wheel movement resulted in actual vehicle steering. The dealer investigated and found "fault is internal to the steering rack, need to replace the steering rack and lower steering shaft as the is a high failure rate item". An issue with steering, especially an issue that is classified by Mini as a HIGH FAILURE RATE ITEM, should be considered a safety issue as loss of steering/power steering can result in the inability to avoid an accident. There were no warning lights or other indicator faults. This appears to be another design, manufacturing or assembly issue. Steering should last well beyond 52 months and 24,165 miles.

Car was parked and the ABS braking unit caught fire. Fire Marshal watched CCTV from restaurant from across the street. He watched it from when the car was parked until the fire department arrived. No one went near the car or threw anything at the car. Fire Marshal saw when the smoke began, then an electrical arc and flames. The 2024 Mini Clubman was totaled by our insurance company. Luckily our daughter was not driving it when it caught fire. We have contacted BMW customer care and the dealership where it was purchased. She had the vehicle for a total of 3 months. It was supposed to have been a certified used mini. However, the vehicle had a warning light for brake fluid and we made appointment and took it in for service on 4/8/26. The Customer Care, Eddie, stated that the brake service was over due; however, it was just purchased as a certified mini 3 months prior and all services should have been done prior to us purchasing the vehicle. Vehicle was serviced and their 21 point inspection stated everything was fine. At this time, we are out $8,500, $5K cash down payment, $1600 trade, $1900 in car payments. That is a steep price for driving a vehicle for 3 months. Dealership said they could not help us and to call Customer Care, we called Customer Care, and they are supposedly looking into it.

REAR BUMPER BRAKE & TAIL LIGHTS OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING BUMPER LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND BULBS MAY TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE ISSUE. LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS UNDAMAGED AND WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR IS CLEAN. POWER AND GROUND ARE TESTED OK. VEHICLE HAS 50,000 MILES AND IS PARKED IN A COVERED AREA. NEVER DRIVEN IN SNOW OR SALTED ROADS.

I have 2016 Mini Clubman S with 109,000 miles on it , I got a check engine light with a Code U019D. I went to dealer to check and was told the radiator would need to be replaced at a cost of $ 3,700 dollars. After researching it is a common issue due to defect in materials, there was an extended warranty offered by bmw up 15 years or 150,000 miles to cover this defect. I was told that since I am in Florida it doesn't cover it and I believe this is wrong. If there is defect in materials and it is covered for some, why not all. Th ecompany has already stated it is a defect in materials, see below. SIM 13 01 19 Lin Bus Communication Fault for Enviromental Air Catalyst (EAC)Sensor FC1B8302. It States that the chemical compositon of the fan shroud contaminates the EAC sensor. Since this is a know defect from manufacturer I believe they should be replacing the defective material under warranty terms .

Vehicle: MINI Cooper Clubman (Model R55) VIN: [XXX] Recall: NHTSA 23V-337 Dealer: Flow MINI of Raleigh, NC 1. COMPONENT FAILED: The Junction Box Electronics (JBE) failed due to moisture/water intrusion, producing electrical fault codes across all core systems including airbags, brakes, and a JBE communication fault. The vehicle is located at Flow MINI of Raleigh and is available for inspection. 2. SAFETY RISK: Recall 23V-337 identifies that moisture intrusion into the JBE can lead to corrosion, short circuit, and in rare cases a thermal event (fire). My vehicle's carpet is wet, confirming active water intrusion into the footwell where the JBE is installed. Airbag and brake faults appear exclusively when it rains or when the vehicle is washed, directly and unambiguously linking all symptoms to water intrusion. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. 3. DEALER CONFIRMATION: Flow MINI of Raleigh confirmed moisture/water intrusion is causing the JBE faults — directly reproducing the failure during a dealer-performed wash. The dealer declined the recall repair solely because [XXX] is not listed among covered states. 4. MANUFACTURER RESPONSE: MINI USA denied coverage exclusively on the basis that North Carolina is not included in the recall's geographic region. The defect itself has not been disputed. 5. BASIS FOR COMPLAINT: The recall's geographic restriction was established based on road salt usage. North Carolina roads do receive road salt treatment during winter weather events. The recall documentation (RCRIT-23V337-7125.pdf, Page 4, Item 12) explicitly names the JBE as a covered component. I request that NHTSA: (1) treat this as urgent given confirmed airbag and brake faults, (2) review whether NC should be included in the recall's geographic scope, and (3) compel MINI USA to perform the recall repair on VIN [XXX] at no cost. The contact's friend owned a 2019 Mini Clubman. The contact stated that while the driver was driving 25 MPH from a complete stop, another vehicle traveling approximately 30 MPH crashed into the front passenger's side of the vehicle by the fender, in the middle of an intersection. The driver depressed the brake pedal and brought the vehicle to a stop. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact was occupying the front passenger's side seat while the contact's wife was occupying the rear driver's side seat. Both the contact and the driver were able to exit the vehicle. The contact's wife was bleeding due to the front of the hairline being torn open and pushed back to the skull. The contact's wife was assisted out of the vehicle by the ambulance and was provided first aid. The contact's wife was not wearing a seat belt during the incident because she could not find the seat belt buckle prior to the incident. All the passengers of the vehicle were taken to the trauma center of a hospital. The contact's wife underwent surgery. The contact sustained back pain and was currently wearing a back brace. The driver sustained unknown injuries. The vehicle was towed and totaled. No further information was available because the driver had stopped communicating with the contact since the incident. The 'Passenger air bag off' alert recurs without apparent cause, suggesting a system malfunction. I took my vehicle to a MINI dealership for evaluation, only to be informed that this is a known issue requiring replacement of the entire system at a cost of $1,800 + tax. Online research reveals that many MINI owners with similar models face this safety issue. Given the severity and prevalence of this problem, I respectfully request that your agency consider ordering a recall for affected vehicles to ensure a free and safe repair."

On January 7, 2025, the vehicle started to suddenly brake and pull to the right side of the road when going above 40 mph for less than 2 seconds, and then I regained control. When on the left lane of the highway, the sudden movement was so pronounced that it made the car invade the right lane. This happened over 10 times on a single trip. Since this happened, the vehicle was stopped, and the front suspension was inspected. There was a front ball joint damaged. It was replaced, thinking this was the problem. The vehicle was used for the following months. However, when driving it on the highway, it kept doing the same thing. On April 15, 2025 the vehicle was being driven at about 25 mph when the rear left brake suddenly locked up without any brake, traction control, or ABS warning lights. The vehicle was towed home. When trying to move the vehicle, it was noticed that the front right and rear left brake calipers were locked up. Still no warning lights.
