This bulletin provides information to inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake tube(s)/line(s) for leakage and also apply additional anti-corrosion material to the underbody components on certain 2014-2017MY Forte and Forte Koup (YD) vehicles produced from November 7, 2012 through April 19, 2017 and originally sold or currently registered in one of the 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used. The 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used are: AK, CT, DC, DE, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, WI and WV. Brake line corrosion can occur due to a combination of environment conditions and lack of proper underbody maintenance. Brake line corrosion can occur on vehicles in states where heavy amounts of road salt are used if the materials used for ice/snow removal are not regularly flushed from the underbody of the vehicle. If this condition occurs, customers may experience low brake fluid level that can result in gradually increasing soft brake pedal feel and/or Brake Fluid Warning Light illumination.

SummaryPITSTOP: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACEMENT AND MILEAGE SETTING WITH KDS - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. This pitstop provides the KDS service procedure for mileage setting on the models listed below with newly replaced instrument clusters. Certain models allow for mileage setting with the KDS, which prevents the need to send out the instrument cluster to a 3rd party for mileage adjustment (refer to PS264). After a new cluster is installed, cluster (variant) coding may also need to be conducted using the KDS. Make sure the KDS software is also updated to the latest version. Mileage setting should be performed by using the KDS only, as described in this bulletin.

SummaryVOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE CAMPAIGN: ECM UPDATE FOR OBD LOGIC IMPROVEMENT (SC203) - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Engine Control Module (ECM) on some 2017-2018MY Forte (YDm) vehicles equipped with the NU 2.0L MPI engine, produced from May 27, 2016 through June 27, 2018. While this issue has no effect on the drivability of the vehicle, nor does it release any air pollutants, the vehicle may fail a SMOG check and/or may not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) for certain fuel system failures. In order to improve On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) logic, apply the improved software logic to the Engine system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.
