3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING MY USED VEHICLE THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT TURNED ON FOR A FEW SECONDS. A FEW WEEKS LATER I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY IN GEARS SHIFTING LIKE HARSH SHIFTING. I TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BECAUSE WHEN HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER IT WAS NOT THROWING A CODE. THE ISSUE CONTINUES WHERE THERES A DELAY IN SHIFTING, ONCE THE SHIFTING HAPPENS IT WILL ACCELERATE OR SLOW DOWN DRASTICALLY WHERE IT FEELS LIKE I AM SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES OR STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY REPLACED/ADDED A CLOCKSPRING ON MY REQUEST JUST TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE FROM READING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE L OWNERS.

Randomly, the passenger and driver seat’s lumbar and massaging features power on. In the case of the lumbar systems, they inflate to the point of rupture, resulting to damage in the seating surface and the delamination of the rear seat panel. All of this occurred while driving.

There is an issue with the sensors. While driving for no reason it will break. It’s done it multiple times. While turning left. The sensors have stopped me in front of oncoming traffic. And won’t allow me to proceed forward. There is also an issue while trying to back out of parking spots. There will be nothing behind me. But it will break and not allow me to leave. This is very concerning. I am afraid to drive my vehicle. I’ve taken it into the dealership and they weren’t able to fix it.

The instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well.

One day, I tried to start my vehicle using the push start button, and it fell off into a hole. There were no indications or warning signs that the button was loose or needed to be replaced. When I took my vehicle to the dealership where I originally purchased it for routine maintenance, they never mentioned that the button had worn out. If it were an emergency situation where I had to turn the vehicle off and the button had randomly fallen off, there would be no other way to turn the vehicle off or on.

- #11685511September 6, 2025SEATS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The last forced OTA update we received on the vehicle has been a complete disaster. The build number is [XXX]. It has lit the FCW off light on the dash despite it being selected as on in the settings. It has also disabled the paddle shifters, randomly turns the language on our display to Italian, randomly locks up the UConnect system into an Android Command prompt and causes numerous issues with the radio. The update has also caused the driver's lumbar support to randomly inflate while driving the car. I've searched on many Jeep forums and this appears to be a common issue. My dealer says there is no "recall" yet from Jeep and wants to charge hundreds of dollars to reflash the software. All reports I have found online show that reflashing the software has not worked for others. While making a left turn into a busy intersection with a green arrow signal, my car applied emergency braking, slamming all of us in the car forward, locked up tires, in the middle of the intersection, with a car right behind me! I have no idea how we were not rear ended! There was absolutely no reason for the braking and it was very scary, sending my daughter into tears. We were able to continue driving after a few seconds sitting in the intersection in shock. My head immediately hurt and wasn’t sure really what happened but the slam was intense like a collision. This is very scary, and dangerous! If this had happened on a hwy or at a faster speed could have caused a serious accident, which I am now reading has happened to other Jeep owners.

- #11684310September 1, 2025ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
Jeep grand Cherokee L, the 3.7L V6 engine in the Jeep has experienced camshaft and valvetrain issues, often related to wear and lubrication problems. Sides a ticking and rough running/banging engine. Caused by faulty camshafts. The company knows the cam shafts are faulty, in Michigan the part is on back order by over 10,000 parts. The company is no longer creating the camshaft because of its known issues but also is not offering a replacement part or solution to the problem, repair and replacement of the camshaft through the dealer is 6months to a Year out due to the shear volume or parts and repairs currently needed by current owners. Leaving owners without a vehicle as they cannot drive the car once the issue arises due to potential damage to the head gaskets.

I own a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On August 18, 2025, the rear suspension coil detached and fell off in my driveway. I had the vehicle repaired at an authorized Jeep dealership. However, on **August 31, 2025 — just 13 days later — the exact same coil spring detached again, this time while I was driving at freeway speeds. This is a severe safety hazard that could have caused a catastrophic accident. The defect is identical to NHTSA Recall No. 23V413000 (Chrysler Recall 64A), which addresses rear coil springs detaching while driving. Despite my vehicle being the same year, make, and model as those included in the recall, my VIN is not currently covered. Given that the defect has now occurred twice on my vehicle, including immediately after a dealer repair, I strongly believe this safety recall should be expanded to include additional VINs, including mine.

- #11683580August 28, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee was having failures with the Active Lane Management and Park Sense features not turning on. A visit to the service department revealed failures with both the front and rear facing cameras. While waiting for parts, I was travelling on the highway with the Adaptive Cruise Control enabled. (Not thinking about a possible bad interaction with the ACC.) In slowed traffic, my Jeep decelerated approaching a car, then suddenly accelerated. I had to quickly press the brake before crashing into the car in front of me. The Adaptive Cruise Contol should have disabled with the other systems have trouble with the cameras. The failure mode should have been to brake or shutdown, not to accelerate.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L - My front sunroof panel exploded out of nowhere while driving. My family was in the car as we were taking my son back to college. Thankfully the interior shade was closed and glass did not rain down on us while in motion. There was no warning, travel was smooth and no object hit the roof. I have read that there have been several other cases reported on this. VERY DANGEROUS

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), there was an abnormal metal scratching sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and inspected the vehicle and noticed that the passenger’s side rear coil spring had detached. The vehicle was parked in the driveway. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and was confirmed with a detached rear coil spring was confirmed. The vehicle remained at the dealer pending the repair. The contact was informed that the isolator springs for the upper and lower and cradle bolt, and shock absorber nut were ordered. The contact stated that in August 2023, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle had been repaired in 2023. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

- #11682081August 21, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
On July 16, 2025, at approximately 6:10 PM, I was driving home on the highway at around 65 mph when I attempted to brake. The brake pedal went completely to the floor, and no braking occurred. At the same time, the following warning lights and messages suddenly appeared on the dashboard: - “Service Park Brake” - “Service ABS” - “Service Electronic Stability Control” - “Auto Hold Unavailable” - “4WD System Temporarily Unavailable” I was able to maneuver the vehicle into the emergency lane without colliding with other vehicles or causing a high-speed rear-end accident. The vehicle came to a gradual stop but would not restart afterward. This failure occurred without any prior warning and posed a serious risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not know how an accident was avoided, as the failure was sudden and could have resulted in a tragedy. The vehicle is a 2-year-old Jeep, with approximately 36,000 miles, and has been regularly serviced by Jeep, most recently about one month prior to the incident. After the incident, I had the vehicle inspected by a Jeep dealership, which confirmed the failure and identified a defective brake control module as the root cause. The component is available for inspection upon request.

A small crack in windshield starting at bottom of window on passenger side. No chip or rock strike. Not used in cold weather area. Not used off road. Crack has extended upward now about twelve inches. I live in Las Legas so it does get hot but not so much this year. First noticed as small crack around [XXX], this year. The lumbar support airbags are over inflating on their own both the driver and passenger seats. To the point that it alters your seat position making it uncomfortable and dangerous for driving as there are times that it won’t go back down and positions you in an unnatural way. The passenger side one is so over inflated that it feels as if it could pop at any moment. It has inflated so much that it appears to have caused permanent damage to the seat by stretching the leather and padding. The stitching is coming apart and even when deflated some (won’t deflate all the way) it still sticks out from being stretched. I worry it could burst while driving causing injury or an accident. The car is only 2 years old. It is available for inspection at this time. It has not been to a dealer yet for diagnosis nor repair. It’s reproducible but only when it does it which happens to be more frequently and now also starting to be permanent. There are no warning lights or messages. It first started in the driver seat a couple months ago. The passenger more recently.

- #11680289August 12, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
This complaint is an update to my previous complaint #11679471 submitted on August 8, 2025. Please consider this as additional information to the original case. Since my initial submission: Second Dealership Refusal: I attempted to bring the vehicle to a second authorized Jeep dealership for inspection and diagnosis. They refused any service, stating they would not inspect or repair the vehicle. This is now the second dealership to reject the vehicle after the incident. Obtained Diagnostic Printouts: Despite refusing service, the second dealership was convinced to provide printed codes from the vehicle. These codes show multiple system errors recorded at a very low vehicle mileage, including communication failures with the ABS control module, brake system internal failure, and CAN bus errors. These indicate potential electronic or computer system faults that could have occurred immediately before or during the brake failure. Manufacturer Warranty Issue: Immediately after the incident, Jeep opened a warranty case #93917003 for the vehicle. However, during subsequent communication, I was informed that this brand-new vehicle has no manufacturer's warranty at all. This is extremely concerning, as the vehicle was purchased new with only minimal mileage and no prior damage or modifications. Vehicle Condition: The vehicle remains undrivable and unsafe to operate. Jeep or its authorized dealers have performed no corrective action. Given that this was a brand-new vehicle with extremely low mileage purchased solely for personal family travel, and that both authorized dealerships have refused to address a major safety defect, I am requesting that NHTSA treat this as an urgent safety matter. The refusal to investigate by Jeep dealerships, combined with the unexpected claim that there is no manufacturer warranty, leaves this defect unresolved and poses an ongoing safety risk if similar failures occur in other vehicles.
