I had a flat tire (passenger side right front tire). Triple AAA removed tire and replaced with my spare tire. While driving to the Hyundai dealership, massive clouds of smoke poured out of my exhaust pipe in rear of car. I also had trouble steering the car. The result of using the spare tire burned the transmission fluid (also contained metal shavings). The transmission had to be replaced along with the fluids in my car.

My engine is consuming more engine oil than it should be. It is consuming 1.5 quarts every 1,000 miles due to a manufacturers defect. I have attempted to reach out to the dealership service department for a resolution in which they have been unable to provide. I purchased this vehicle 05/25/2020 with 18 miles on it. The service department is wanting to charge a total of $1,000 to “test” for the defect. However, said defect is directly related to the recall that I was informed of on 05/03/2021. I noticed the defect in March 2021 when I realized there was no oil in my car. I had it serviced prior to that in late January and do not commute more than 8 miles round trip for work. The defect was experienced again on 06/09/2021 when my engine made a ticking noise while driving it. I again checked my oil to find there was none in it.

After loud explosion sound, the engine stalled 3 times recently while driving and today. No brake, hard steering wheel, and almost bumped the car front of me. I took my car to a dealer last week and they said no fix despite of safety recall. Without any warning, first it happened 3 weeks ago.

A recall has been issued some time back and said it was possible for engine to catch fire. Still to this date no resolution and they’re dragging their feet. People need their vehicles and we still paying for these vehicles that are basically useless. I can’t take my new vehicle on business trips because it’s unsafe so I’m having to rent vehicles. I’ve called and emailed them and it seems to be no rush for them. Ridiculous and sad….

Our car stalled out multiple times within a 5 min increment. We took it to the shop and it has been there for over 30 days. We have no case manager from Hyundai and no estimated time for a fix. We're getting charged out of pocket for a rental that is going on for 30+ days and Hyundai will not: 1. Call us back and give us a case manager 2. Tell us how to be reimbursed for these expenses 3. Provide a timeline or estimate on fixes

We brought our 2019 Kona EV in for the battery recall and the Battery Maintenance System (BMS) recall. The reduced charge amount to 80% and ran the BMS software update. This was on a Friday (5/7/21). We picked up our car that same day and drove home. Drove the car twice over the weekend and charged the car overnight, Sunday-Monday. When we got in the car Monday morning (5/10/21), the car would not go into gear (forward or reverse). On the dash and the info screen, was a message about an Electrical System Failure. We had to have the car towed to the local Hyundai dealer (Curry Hyundai, Cortlandt, NY). The told us the BMS caused the battery to go into lockdown mode and that there was no resolution except for the battery to be replaced. We were told to get a battery could take several months. They gave us a loaner but it is not an electric vehicle. So far no one know when or if a battery will be available.

The manufacturer has announced a safety recall (NHTSA Recall Number21V127000) due to the hazard of battery fire. It has been months since the recall was announced (and a year since battery fires were first reported) and the manufacturer has offered no remedy. Manufacturer has not provided timely communication or remedy to this safety problem, and we need help from NHTSA to get a safe solution to this fire danger. Hyundai either needs to provide a replacement battery immediately, or replace the car.

The 2019 Hyundai Kona EV (my vehicle) is a fire hazard. I am not satisfied with Hyundai's current mitigation of limiting our battery (and so our range) to 80% of its capacity. A full battery replacement is planned, but there is no timeline, so it could take 1 year for all I know. 1 year during which I am stuck with 80% of my range (which is not what I purchased) and the potential, however unlikely, that my car is still a fire hazard. I wish Hyundai would do more!

On 30 May 21, I was getting ready to pull into my driveway, stopped the vehicle to let a passenger out of car, when suddenly the vehicle accelerated at a high speed crashing into my house. I nor the braking assist could stop the vehicle, resulting in the collision with house. I and my passengers sustained seat belt injuries.

Hyundai issued a several recalls that notified me of various updates related to my car battery as well as that I cannot park my car in my garage as battery could catch fire. I have taken my car to a local dealer each time for these software updates as required. They originally did a "fix" for the battery issue back in 2020 but clearly the issue has not been remedied since it first came to light in 3/2019. Then in 3/2021, Hyundai notified me by mail that in addition, I must limit my battery capacity to 80%, prohibiting my use of the car for longer planned trips this spring and summer and likely fall 2021. I have had to change my lifestyle and make other arrangements in order to continue my plans. The battery has a lifetime guarantee and I bought the car due to this guarantee as well as the use of 100% of the battery expected mileage as I have a long commute and take long day trips since this is my only car. The requirement of parking outside my garage for over 6 months now reduces the value of my car as it is subject to intense heat/sun/sandy wind/fire debris as I live in a Southern California desert. Between the reduction in battery change, fire danger of battery, parking outside, the value of my purchase had decreased significantly and it was false advertising when I purchased the car in 11/2019. I would not have purchased this car if I only had 80% of the battery capacity and had to park it outside to avoid possible fire due to charging. Hyundai has only offered $200 to come in to dealer to have then change battery capacity to 80% (which I did . That is not enough compensation for the loss of use, loss of value, loss of car quality from parking outside, and loss of my time. My fear is that they will issue a buyback that does not include the value of my window tinting and specialized lazer fit car mats and deducts value for my mileage. There is not ETA on when the battery will be replaced/fixed at this time - completely unacceptable.
