...three times in one week (twice with me, and once with my wife), while driving in traffic the engine shut down completely, and we had to coast off the road to restart the engine...could easily have been deadly...I have tried to contact my dealer, but continually on hold...have left message for call back...afraid to drive car...

12-3-21, with only 103 miles on my new car, the check engine light came on. I drove back to the dealer where I purchased the car - Fitzgerald, and spoke to Maurice the manager, and Garret in the service department. Garret informed me he "wiggled the wires" and the check engine light went off. On 12-5-21, with 129 miles on the car the check engine light came on again. I went back to Fitzgerald and spoke to Frank, who works in sales. Frank told me the service department was closed on Sunday and I have to comeback Monday 12-6-21.

While on the highway the transmission completely stopped shifting and stayed in first gear and would only rev up the engine when the accelerator was applied.I had to coast slowly off the freeway to an exit to safely park. I turned the vehicle off and restarted after a few minutes and it drove regularly. Apparently there are other customers that have experienced this issue and this raises a lot of concern on the safety of operating this vehicle.

My car is subject to recall #200 (EV Battery replacement). I initially set my max charge level to 80% back in the spring, then was called by my local dealership for the battery replacement in early September. At that time, they checked my car in, but then sent me back out with it pending delivery of replacement batteries. I have reached out to the dealership several times since about the delay and they have responded that they're still waiting for batteries. It's been almost three months since my car was "checked in" for service.

I purchased in July 2021 todays date is Nov 22nd it has been 5 months and for the second time I get to my parked car and the power locks don’t work with the key fob and the engine simply will not start. The first time I had the tow truck guy jump start the engine and it worked up until today, I took it in for a diagnostic and they said the battery was healthy everything checked out. Today again Nov 22 I get to my car again won’t unlock and engine simply will not turn on with key entry model SE. This time I had them tow to the dealership for more evaluation. This is a road hazard what happens if the engine decides to stop working while driving the vehicle? Both times I double checked and I did not leave any lights on everything was shut off only thing blinking was the security alarm system. I believe it is a manufacturer defect in the engine since the battery tests out fine.

-On numerous occasions my map on display enlarges itself on the screen all on it’s own. The only way this can occur is if I touch the screen and enlarge it myself with my finger. -My volume in settings were changed within a minute. I selected all settings to level 38 and then when I returned to the screen they had been changed. (See screenshot). This occurrence has happened so much, that I’ve lost count. -Furthermore, they have bypassed my key fob and have gained access to the inside of my vehicle. One would think that they would steal my vehicle, but instead, leave white marks all over my screen, pull up the break, turn on the windshield wipers and lights. Upon entering my vehicle, I notice these have are turned on when I know I always turn them off upon exiting and turning off my vehicle.

This complaint is regarding our 2019 Electric Hyundai Kona. Hyundai had a Recall #200 that started last year 2020 if I’m not mistaken. They have sent us a lot of letters in the mail that they are still trying to find a solution to the battery issue of the electric car and will let us know once they come up with a solution. Last month, we went to Eckert Hyundai in Denton, TX and we tried to get the recall fixed but the tech said they can’t fix it since they do not have that much experience dealing with electric cars especially with batteries (which is the main issue due to risk of fire, explosion). I tried contacting McKinney and Plano Hyundai dealerships too but they tell me the same thing. As of the moment, the car does not fully charge, I don’t charge at home and there’s always a risk of fire whenever in use and while charging.

Felt shudder and felt like transmission not catching, later a “ping” sound, then sounded like something dropped or hit (though didn’t see anything in front of me when driving) and then didn’t look behind as on interstate. Then the oil and engine lights and one other came on and the car lost power.

The contact's wife owns a 2019 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated that upon warming the vehicle in cold weather, an abnormal, wire-burning smell would emit from the vehicle without warning. The manufacturer was initially notified about the failure and was informed that he would receive a callback; the contact had yet to receive a callback. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where they found no failure with the vehicle. The contact stated that he had a young child and that the odor could be toxic to his child's breathing. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

- #11438845November 1, 2021FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
When starting the vehicle, the forward collision avoidance system is automatically on, this is the default. I must take the active step of turning it off every time I begin to drive, if I do not wish to use it. The issue is that the avoidance system has several times almost CAUSED me to have an accident and thrown me forward, through sudden and hard breaking if the car thinks I am too close to the vehicle in front of me. This is why I continually turn it off. I would like to point out that I have NEVER rear ended anyone in over 40 years of driving, so rather than truly avoiding any collision, the car causes me to come very close to having an accident, as the sudden and hard braking has caused me to swerve while preparing to pass another vehicle.

I noted a sever drop in the full charge range. The battery meter does not reflect the true and accurate available storage. You can’t depend on these readings.
