The paint on the roof right above the windshield is peeling off. I've gone online and seen pictures of other white elantras with paint peeling. I was told by Crestmont Hyundai that my car is not part of any recall. I had the car at Crestmont Hyundai on April 28 for a recall for an anti-rust undercoating and the pictures that were taken do not show any type of damage to the area.

I purchased this car as a used car at CarMax in July 2022 and it drove fine for about 10,000 miles, but starting in February 2023, my engine started to misfire. The first misfire happened when I started my car. I was told by my local mechanic that I needed a new engine after a compression test was run. My engine misfired a 2nd time while I was merging on the highway and a third time while I was starting my car. I only have 68,975 original miles on my car. The first 2 misfires illuminated the check engine light and the third misfire illuminated the check engine light, the battery light and oil pressure light, however my mechanic didn't find any codes with my third misfire. My car regularly rough idles and has a delay when I accelerate as well.

I was traveling in the rain and a CHECK FORWARD SAFETY SYSTEM warning appeared on my dashboard. There was nothing in front of me to set that off. I notified the dealership and they said it was an alignment code and must have gotten hit.( Which I doubt) so wasn't covered under warranty.

Car was turning off while I was driving it. I would be driving and the car would literally just stop... this is very dangerous at high speeds. Just got a call from the dealership and they said it is the engine and is $7,000 to repair. The car only has $120,000 miles on it and it has been maintained well!

My car is rapidly losing oil at an alarming rate and I believe the 2017 Elantras should be a part of the Oil consumption recall. For at least over the past year at 111,094 miles, my car needs to have the oil refilled at every 3 week period averaging only 1,000 miles. NO CHECK OIL LIGHT ever comes on, and I am only aware of the fact due to diligently checking my car's oil. Countless mechanics have told me of this issue, that it's not normal to consume this much oil. On other forums hundreds of Hyundai users have stepped forward that they are having the same problem. It was cost me countless repairs and when I did go to Hyundai for arguably the same problem (low oil) under warranty, I was never given a new well functioning engine. I also have reason to believe that Hyundai is WELL AWARE of this issue as the 2017 manual states that owners are expected to check oil every 350 miles which is excessive. There needs to be consequences for this indecent operation of business and these customers need to be compensated.

Have had the vehicle throw a code for a misfire 4 times in the 30,000 miles I have driven it. The times I have taken it to Hyundai dealerships in Northglenn and Boulder, Colorado they tried an update and just swap ignition coils to different cylinders. Example misfire is cylinder 3. They swap number 3 and 4 ignition coils to see if they can recreate the problem I the new cylinder. There is already a TCS 20-FL-001h. I recommend a full recall of these defective ignition coils be put out as the problems are still occurring. The problem is reoccurring and the time it takes to get into the shop is 3 weeks out at this time. By the time I get it in the code usually resolves and I have to wait until I get violent shakes and poor acceleration to indicate it is back. Had an accident in January if 2023 and it seemed the brakes were t working as they should. Twice after that the brakes felt as if they weren’t stopping as well as they should. I took the vehicle in and had the rear drum brakes adjusted and that seemed to fix the problem.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while his wife was driving downhill in the rain at 45 MPH, she failed to apply the brakes and crashed into a vehicle. The impact of the crash caused a three-vehicle pile up. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Due to the failure, his wife hit her right arm and chest on the steering column. The authorities arrived at the scene and rendered aid by the EMT. The driver of the vehicle that his wife crashed into sustained neck injuries. The contact later took his wife to a hospital where she was treated for bruising to her right arm and chest. A police report was filed(2023-17095). The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Steering wheel locks unsafe to drive. I have complained to the Towne Hyundai in Denville was told it was the left strut that was causing problem. I paid out of pocket and problem is still there. I was advised by two mechanics my car has a recall but Hyundai in Denville aand Paramus NJ will not accept responsibility. I'm afraid to drive my car as the steering wheel locked in the past. The light for electric power steering warning light came on. Thank you.

I purchased a car on December 24th 2022 and from the day I left off the lot there were electrical signals showing that the car was malfunctioning. I told [XXX] (the dealer) what was taking place and the dealership never called me or tried to assist with any problems. For months the signals were coming on and off and my last straw was when my windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of a rain storm after I had just made an in person complaint for the 3rd time about my electrical issues on the car while at the dealership on May 13th 2023. I had just been told there was nothing they could do and I called them upon leaving to tell them I could not see while driving because my wipers were not working. They told me to just go home. [XXX] (New car sales manager) hung up on me 5/17/2023 after telling me I am making assumptions when I was shown proof that the car had issues by the service department when they finally serviced my car about my complaints on 5/16/2023. He told me he was never made aware when I emailed the service manager all of my proof the day prior. I called 5 times before I could actually reach [XXX] who would have been [XXX] supervisor. They even hung up on me prior to speaking to him. I am completely disgusted & I do not feel safe in this car. [XXX] did not want to give me anything in writing that he was saying over the phone. He would not even send me an email. I don't feel valued I feel used. At this point I don't even know or have faith in this company. I am so hurt and as I told him if I were to die because of the issues then maybe he would have took accountability instead of blaming service or anyone else. I even contacted Hyundai corporate and they said there is nothing they can do because the dealership is a family run private Hyundai dealership. I have proof of all records and I will be attaching it. Attached shows different mileage dates, of incidents, official text and emails that were unanswered. Good day i hope this finds you well. While I'm driving my air bag light comes on and off around certain corners and such..I have been told it means my air bag won't work if I'm in an accident. It definitely freaks me out knowing I could or couldn't be ok in an accident. I'm not sure what to do about this..I bought my hyundai elantra from a personal sale so there probably isn't anything I can do but I just thought someone should know. I am grateful for your time..hope you have a great day

I'm having constant issues with my front doors. Last year There was a door latch recall issued for the front drivers side door. I took my car to the dealership to get it handled however my FT DS door was making a clicking sound. It was fixed but since gone back to the dealership twice and now possibly a third time due to FT PGR Door making the same noise.. I keep getting locked out of my car or the doors wont close right. All doors make a clicking sound when opened. Which is one of the reasons I have taken car twice. The main concern is me not being able to get in the car without having to click on the key fob and doorlatch getting stuck.

*The rear sub-frame assembly nearly rusted through. Steering and Handling noticebly effected with rear of vehicle feeling soft and sluggish in turns. *The vehicle is available for inspection and was brought to my attention when the mechanic was beginning rear brake maintenance. *The mechanic is a licensed mechanic and the Repair shop is a licensed service facility. *The mechanic called me and asked me to return to the shop to show me the extent of the rust damage, to which I did return to the shop to examine his findings. I did take photos. *There were no warning lamps or messages. The symptoms were as described above.

While driving the steering made a clunking noise and the ability to turn the steering wheel was affected. At low speeds the steering wheel is pulling and feels like there is a loose spot in the turning radius of the steering. After researching, the possible issue is the 926-990 Flexible Steering Coupler.

I was driving home on april 13, 2023 when the power seemed to leave my car & steering & brakes felt like they weren't working right like I had no control. The battery & oil change lights came on. I was scared & didn't know what to do but then a min or so later I was able to get enough control to direct it into a parking lot across from my house & turned off the engine. When I turned the car back on the 2 warning lights were gone & I was able to drive it across the street. I had been hearing a noise under the hood & wasn't sure if it was a belt or something. A mechanic said the belts, hoses etc were good but he thinks that noise was my engine rod bearings going & he had dealt with more Hyundai engine problems recently. I had Hyundai dealership check my engine & they said my connecting rod bearings are bad & I need new engine. They said this is not covered under their extended warranty & I am over the warranty miles & they won't help in any way. This is a bad engine & I have met other Hyundai owners in same situation. & it wasn't until I read an article where another Hyundai driver experienced the same thing I did on April 13 before her engine died on a highway that I connected that event with a bad engine so I believe that is what happened to me on April 13 except my engine didn't completely die on me. This is a safety issue if a car engine stops working while driving on a road. I have receipts from everything I have done to my car & you can tell it wasn't lack of care that caused this engine failure. It is engine defects I believe are causing them. Please investigate the problem & keep Hyundai & Kia drivers & drivers around them safe. And get Hyundai to do right by their customers & replace these defective engines. I can show invoice where Hyundai declined providing assistance because of miles as 2nd owner but service man only hand wrote problem with engine was connecting rod bearings on it. He didn't include it on printed invoice. Hyundai has photos & info.

Ignition Coil Failure on 2017 Hyundai Elantra with just over 29,000 miles. Engine misfiring, jerking, idling roughly, and hesitating while accelerating, along with the Check Engine Light turning on. On-board diagnostic tool generated a P0-301 Diagnostic Trouble Code - indicating that cylinder number 1 experiencing misfires. Took my car to dealer for repair. Ignition coil and software updated pursuant to Hyundai TSB # 20-FL-001H. Cost $321.46. Hyundai would not pay for all/part of the repair because car is beyond the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty, despite this being a safety issue they acknowledged by issuing the TSB to address the replacement of the defective ignition coils. Hyundai previously issued safety recall on 2106 Sonata models related to a similar defective ignition coil issue. See Hyundai TSB # 16-01-003-1. Ignition coils are expected to last at least 100,000 miles. The premature failure of this part, as evidenced by the 2016 recall, and the 2020 TSB, poses an unreasonable safety risk to the public. Imagine the safety issues while traveling on a roadway with your car misfiring, jerking, or lacking power when accelerating, or stalling.

As I was driving all of a sudden my power steering light and traction control light would pop on my car and my wheel would lock up on my making it extremely difficult to navigate. Would happen randomly at different speeds and scenarios. Once turned on when I was getting on the Delaware Memorial Bridge, another time on a highway, and happened while I was turning. Brought it 4 times to a dealership and the techs have done nothing to actively fix the problems. It’s very upsetting bc I take pictures of it because I feel like nobody believes me and I feel unsafe driving this car.
