So I was driving my vehicle like normal and all of a sudden the driver airbag light came on on the dash and as I’m getting closer to home my check engine light came on my ABS came on as well as my EPS and my TPS , was losing power to the vehicle. I made it home, put it in park and smoke started rolling. Look under the hood. There’s a fire under the hood. I’m not sure what all damage it has caused, but it appears to be coming from the ABS and the electrical I don’t know what damage was caused by the ABS catching fire, but I was unaware that there was a problem with the vehicle, I am I just bought the vehicle in May and it’s just happened August 11 of 2023

when i turn the wheel to the left, i heard a bump noise, like the steering is about to go out. Took my car to a mechanic he said it is the electronic power steering and it was a safety issue that was under recall. Called dealer they said they won't repair it for free because my car is over 100K miles. They want to charge me $350. so not fair. Dealership shouldn't be able to not repair recalls period. they make a mistake the public has to pay for it.

- #11539145August 17, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
There are have been three significant safety issues with the car. 1. The forward collision alert system goes off without warning and with zero debris or cars in front of me. This has happened three times, putting my safety and those around me at risk. 2. The car has suddenly had what feels like the rear brakes locking up without warning midway through a turn. The car wheels were still spinning but the car stopped moving. This put me directly in harm's way. 3. While my foot was OFF the accelerator while I was approaching a stoplight, the car suddenly accelerated and lunged forward, nearly causing me to hit the car in front of me. I have taken the car in three times and called the dealership about this one more time and have had no resolution; they claim to be unable to replicate the issue. There were no warning messages prior to the failures.

Your board ordered Hyundai to do a recall on 50,000 2023 vehicles due to a chance of oil pump fire. In the news brief it was mentioned that Hyundai wouldn’t start sending out recall letters till the end of September so therefore no info exists for my VIN number. My efforts through Hyundai to find out if my vehicle has been affected have been fruitless although they did open a case number. Your warning suggested not parking vehicles near residences. Impossible to follow where I live. I reside in a part of California regarded as extreme fire risk and this recall has made me quite nervous. I asked Hyundai to provide me with a rental car until they were ready for repair and replacement and this too was fruitless. Does your board have have any suggestions or can you offer assistance? If you need the case number I can provide that. I cannot quite understand why they can’t provide the affected VIN numbers if they know the total number of vehicles affected. Excessive Oil consumption. My engine has stalled multiple times WHILE DRIVING. The stall typically happens while turning in the middle of an intersection. I've had several near-misses and I'm terrified of being hit. I continue to have to fill my oil in-between oil changes. This problem continues to get worse.

When coming to a stop, turn or sometimes when driving throttle goes to zero, oil, engine, and battery light come on and gas peddle no longer works (car no longer accelerates) . Have to turn car all the way off and restart it and it runs fine (all lights turn off and car accelerates) until coming to a stop again (the same exact thing happens). Went to trade it in as soon as person test drove it he almost crashed because the engine stalled again. This has been happening for months but progressively worsened (happens very often now almost causing crashes)

Driving on highway, dashboard reported "Check Forward Safety System" and "Check Smart Cruise Control System". The car then disabled both while I was driving. This has happened 6 times to me. The first time I brought it to dealer and they stated it was a calibration problem. They reset it and I had no problems for a while. The problem has occurred 5 times more and will stay on for about a week or so and then just go away. It works again and then occurs again. So, it is intermittent and recurring. Each time the diagnostic code reported by the software to my phone is C162078. I see the 2018 Kona had the same exact problem and a software update TSB was put out there. When making a turn or just steering, the steering wheel, the wheel locks up and has difficulty turning or steering. A steering wheel with an exclamation mark shows on my dash, and I have to pull over and turn off the car in order for the car to resume driving normally. Also, the trunk automatic opening does not work. The trunk is supposed to open when you approach it with your key, and it doesn’t work. That feature stopped working one year after I got the car.

My car was stolen due to Hyundai's failure to design and manufacture the vehicle with adequate security measures, thereby making them incredibly easy to steal. These design flaws have impose significant safety risks and have place my family under a substantial financial burden.

CAR WAS STOLEN BY BREAKING THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BACK WINDOW AND THEN STARTED THE CAR WITH A USB CABLE. I HAVE VIDEO SHOWING HOW THEY STARTED THE CAR AFTER IT WAS RECOVERED. I CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND COMPANY WHERE I PURCHASE THE CAR FROM, ALL I KEPT GETTING IS THAT THE CAR IS OK AND THE DEALERSHIP SENT ME AWAY BACK IN APRIL OF 2023, EVEN WHEN I HAVE A RECALL MAILED NOTIFICATION. I was told also that on this website there is no recall when they enter my VIN, but yet the car was stolen because of the poor immobilizer in these cars. Priceless and valuable items was stolen from my car belonging to my deceased mother(she passed in 2018), this is so upsetting.

The right back and front windows on this car does not work. There are times when all 4 windows do not work and all 4 doors will lock up and cannot be open from inside nor outside. This is a huge safety hazard. I took the car back to the dealer a total of 6 times. They worked on the car 4 of those six times trying to fix the issue which still exist. They finally told me there is nothing more they can do at this point. I said ok then, so it's clear the car is a lemon, so I would like a manufacturers buy back. They have ignored me. This has been going on since March 5th of this year. I took the car to another dealer for a second opinion and was advised the car is a lemon so I should contact corporate. I was provided the contact information for corporate and so I called and made a complaint. Corporate advised they would have reached back out on June 14th of this year, and to this day I have hear nothing back. I am extremely terrified of driving this car because, what is there is a fire or something, and I can't get out of the car? This car is a real safety issue and all I have gotten from the dealer is disrespect over and over and over. At one point I went back to them letting know again I do not want the car and u was asked by one of their sales person if this is about money. How insensitive. I am paying for a car that I can't even drive. I have parked this car since June 25th of this year and have to now be relying on uber or begging persons a ride. Most time it's very inconvenient. I have tried to speak with the dealer numerous amount of times, but to no avail. I don't know what else to do. Please advise accordingly. Anticipating your favorable response.

There is a clicking sound in the Hyundai's steering column. The issue is common enough that Hyundai has extended the warranty on the coupler for Elantras and Sonatas - however the dealer charges over $160/hour diagnostic charge so the extended warranty is not helpful. I think Hyundai should issue a recall for this item. Hyundai is claiming that this is not a safety issue, but it is very concerning when you hear a loud clicking noise coming from your steering column. I expect the noise to worsen and fear that it could potentially damage the steering column. I did take my car to a local repair shop (not the dealer) and they confirmed that it sounds like a coupler issue and provided an estimate for a costly repair.

Doors sometimes fail to open when car is electronically unlocked after being previously locked. This is apparently a well-known problem with Hyundai vehicles. From what I've read, the cable assembly responsible for locking and unlocking the doors is not well made and can either stretch or jump a cog, keeping the door from unlocking. In my case, I believe the cable must've stretched. The car is available for inspection. I believe this failure is dangerous for several reasons. First, suddenly and unexpectedly not being able to enter your vehicle can happen at times when it is unsafe to remain outside--especially when a child might be locked inside, as might happen in a roadside emergency. Second, it encourages people not to lock their vehicles especially if they know there's a good chance they won't be able to get back inside once they've locked their car. Finally, it can cost over $1000 per door to have the problem fixed--if you can find a mechanic willing to do it.
