Clock spring failures are a well known issue with Hyundai/Kia models from the early 2010s. Hyundai has offered an extended warranty on most models, but has excluded the GT models, even though they use the same parts. My clock spring has failed, disabling the horn and driver air bag functionality.

I own a 2013 Elantra Hyundai. I have owned the car since 2019. A few days ago, I was unable to open my trunk with the electronic key. I had my battery replaced at a dealership. My trunk still wont open. I checked Google website. Consumer Report reported a recall in March 2024 for latch to be replaced. Am asking that the recall be honored. Please advise. My email is: [XXX] . Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My car started hesitating when shifting gears in smart and normal mode smelled like something was burning. Car only drives in sport mode, shifts hard, engine lags, and the check engine light has not come on. This is the second incident with this car. The first time I lost all power to the car and the entire electrical system shut down, when it was towed to the dealership they said nothing was wrong with it. I keep up on all the maintenance.

The vehicle has been randomly shaking at idle since around 100,000 miles. There have now been a few instances where the engine will shake when decelerating. There are no warning lights, codes, or diagnostic readings that have given a solution for this. Around 145,000 miles the engine began to shake aggressively while driving, as I stopped and put the car in park the engine light, oil light, and battery light came on and then the entire system failed and the car shut off and could not be turned back on. This happened on a “highway” CA-108. I was stranded in the middle of the road, during school traffic hours. I towed the car to the dealership where they said they couldn’t replicate the concern but replaced the oil control valve. It has been 2 months since the repair, the vehicle is again starting to shake when decelerating. I now pull over when this happens though it typically stops within 45 seconds. I have seen the other Elantra engine recalls and feel as though mine fits the description.

I experienced engine failure with this make and model out of no where. Seen online recalls in the past for same make, year, and model. Dealership and and corporate are not helping me one bit, threatening to charge me for storage, lied about my corporate case being denied, when I have email evidence it was still open, and now zero contact back from Hyundai corporation. I'm trying to seek legal advice and would love any help moving forward struggling gravelly from all of this. Thank you so much 🙏

Check engine light came on, the code says misfire on random cylinders, drives very rough. Took to mechanic and said timing chain is loose, which causes the “skipping” or misfire, and could snap at any moment (which is unsafe and could cause a wreck). Mechanic has 3 other Hyundai Elantra's with same problem. Around 2 grand fix.

The suspension on this vehicle is out of control. The vehicle jumps, and It moves from one side to another over any road bump. The car only has 60,000 miles and it shouldn't be doing that, it's unsafe and it can cause an accident.

Bought a 2016 Elantra in 2020 with 44,000 miles on it and a clean repair/ maintenance history. Let me preface the rest of this by saying I am an ASE certified mechanic of 15 years who has been in the industry even longer. The first major issues I incurred with the vehicle happened approximately one year after purchase. The lifters started tapping and not long afterwards (about a week) I had a total engine failure on my hands. I was almost killed by a passing semi truck that was merging on to the interstate but was luckily able to avoid it and get the car on the side of the interstate where I had it towed to Ralph Sellers Hyundai in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Long story short , even though the second owner is entitled to a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty, they made me pay for a new engine. Here we are only 19,000 miles later and the same issue is occurring; except this time due to the stress the failing engine is putting on the torque converter the transmission is now failing to do its job properly. I have been back to the dealership but they offered no help except lies (they told me my high pressure fuel pump was bad, this model doesn't even have one!!!!!) I fully intend to sue Hyundai of America unless some appeasement can be made. Do not EVER buy a hyundai, they are trash cars made to look nicer than they are. Additional details will reflect most recent incident with engine/transmission.

Vehicle had several non-starts. I took it to the dealer a couple of times and they could not duplicate the problem. This problem continued for a couple years before I took it to an independent mechanic. Said mechanic put it on a lift and found a loose power cable barely connected to the starter. Luckily this never caused a short, spark, or fire. From my searching online it appears this is a non-infrequent issue with Hyundai's.

For the past 2 years, the car shuts off while driving. There is no warning lights or other warning that it is going to shut off. The steering doesn't lock but the car shuts off. I have to come to a stop and then restart the car. It does restart every time. This seems to happen frequently and then doesn't do it for a few weeks. I have had it looked at by 4 different mechanics, had multiple sensors replaces, replaced coil packs, and the problem still continues. The Hyundai dealer looked at it one time and said they do not know what is wrong.

When driving in bad weather the car started to slide when my husband tried to turn the steering wheel and the steering wheel locked not allowing him to turn the car to avoid the curb. My husband has driven in snow for years as he was born in upstate NY and he has never had a vehicle lock when sliding.
