In January 2025, we drove to Florida from Michigan. When I started my car every signal light came on. It would not allow me to shut down. We drove it to Orlando Honda and they said the sensor light was covered with road salt. It was very scary. In November 2025 we were driving home in a snowstorm. The sensor in the front got covered and shut down the speed control, warning lights of crossing lane, detecting cars on right or left. I get told every time can’t duplicate. The automatic bright lights got stuck on after only a month of having this car. Dealership says it was off. Well it wasn’t and they still do not work. Speed limit sign on dashboard will go up to 85 miles per hour this is in a 25 mile area. Again they say can’t duplicate. Brakes feel mushy to myself and husband. Again we’re told there is nothing wrong with it. When the speed controls are set there is at least 2 miles difference with my Waze speed and the vehicles speed. I’m told this is normal. Well it’s not. Something is wrong with the electrical system. I owned a Honda Odyssey before and I never had any issues with that one. We’re getting ready to drive to Florida and I’m terrified the system will shut down again. I was told that having road salt on a sensor is not a warranty issue. Well, it is because of poor design. I’m also afraid once this vehicle is no longer under warranty I will be paying $ for this poor design. I’m not happy and now wish I had my old one back.

My 2025 Honda Odyssey has been completely shutting off after the stop-start shuts the engine off. When the car actually “stalls” is when I let off the brake and it’s time to start going. Then I hear a ding, the dash lights come on, and I have to frantically hit the ignition button. This is happening at stop lights where there is the risk for other cars to safely go when the light turns green. I have to completely shut off the car and restart the engine while traffic is going on green.

Idle stop engine turned engine off at a stop light. When the foot was removed from the brake pedal the engine struggled to start up. It took several attempts to get the engine to start up. This has occurred before and the dealer replaced the battery. However, it is now happening again. There were no warnings .

The start stop system has failed to restart at a busy traffic light more than half a dozen different times after a 1 hour drive. Short drives do not bring this issue out. This got me stuck at a light, drivers annoyed honking and confused as I try to get my vehicle to start again. Turning the van completely off and back on again seems to get the van to restart again. I tried bring the issue up to the dealer when I brought it in for its first service, but the employee was extremely rude/belligerent and stated they would only do an oil change when I asked for help with this safety issue among other things. Will take to another dealer next service interval and try again. No issues known or warning lights on the vehicle prior. The van when it did this, error'd stating failure to restart or something along those lines. It happened so fast I don't 100% recall. After the issue the van would have no issues or lights on at all to even think anything had went wrong in the first place. This is a 2024, purchased new, vehicle.

I stopped at a stoplight and the auto shut off took place, when i tried to take my foot off the brake to start the car, the car did not restart. I stalled at the light with cars behind me and my children, the dash displayed a message saying system problem and flashed I did not get a photo . I shut the car off with the brake and the start button and tried starting it twice, Finally the car restarted and I drove home. Something is wrong with the AIS and it put us in danger

- #11705273December 16, 2025STEERING, SUSPENSION, STRUCTURE:BODY
My wife and I purchased a new 2025 Honda Odyssey Van as it currently has about 11,000 miles and we both have noticed a front end vibration/rattle/noise that can be heard and felt in the steering wheel at varying speeds in the front suspension which leads me to believe as an engineer there are issues with sway bar end links, bad strut mounts, or loose control arm bushings that are especially noticeable over any bumps. This issue could pose a serious safety issues in dealing with failed suspension or steering that could cause a potential wreck or loss of control of a vehicle and result in a product liability suit for all parties involved especially given suspension and steering are considered critical auto parts in nature. The problem has been reproduced with my making an appointment at Watermark Honda located at 3201 Park Ave, Paducah, KY 42001 on November 19th, 2025 with the Master Service Tech Caleb Buchanan and Service Advisor Harley Littrell both driving the vehicle and acknowledging the noise and vibration. I also have any recorded video while driving at 5-10 mph in the parking lot of Watermark Honda that was shared and viewed by Harley Littrell. The vehicle was inspected with some strut bolts and other front end component bolts being torqued down the same day with the issue not being resolved. Harley/Caleb noted that they were dealing with the same issue on another 2025 Honda Odyssey on the lot to be sold and they were trying to address issues. As of follow-up appointment on 12/11/25, Harley noted this van had several front end parts replaced and it still made noise with this van not being able to be sold to the public. I was advised by Harley to contact American Honda and to file this report. See uploaded video below.

After driving for 2 hrs in single digit temperatures I entered the on ramp to interstate freeway. I lost power, couldn’t accelerate further and the Check engine light was flashing. I pulled over on the 4 lane interstate, turned off my car and restarted. CEL went away. This is the 2nd time in 2 Winters this has occurred during cold weather. Both on exit/entrance ramps when trying to accelerate after turning with traffic behind me. This can only be reproduced in specific situations and diagnostics are not stored. Honda has a service bulletin on this issue 24-085. I feel it should be covered on all vehicles, regardless of warranty status due to the safety risk.

- #11704863December 13, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
On November 12, I was on the highway in the right lane, there was a car about 4 car lengths ahead of me in my lane and the car in the middle lane was quite a distance ahead. Just as I got in the middle lane, BOOM! the vehicle's CMBS malfunctioned and slammed on the brakes - no warning, visual or audible, just came to an abrupt stop. Thank goodness no one was behind me or I would have been dead. It was an instant whiplash effect as well And then as I was then merging back into the right lane to exit the highway, it did it again! There were NO cars anywhere near me as I had slowed down due to the trauma from the first braking malfunction and all the cars were quite a distance ahead and thank goodness there were no cars behind me. Then on November 25, the same thing happened again. Driving down the highway, no cars near and BOOM! I am brought to an abrupt stop in the middle of the highway! The CMBS malfunctioned again in the middle of the highway. I took it to the dealer and conveniently there were no codes so they said there was nothing they could do. Someone needs to do something about this! To answer your questions 1) CMBS system is malfunctioning and has been for quite some time on Honda vehicles 2) If there would have been a vehicle behind me, I most likely would have been killed. If my dogs would have been in the van, they would have been injured. It gave me whiplash 3) I took it in and they did nothing until I complained, then they kept it a second day and drove it and said it didn't do it. But they weren't even going to do anything until I pushed the issue. This is a known issue with Honda as I found out AFTER it happened to me. 4) the dealer 5) Absolutely NO warnings before it happened

Dear NHTSA, I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2025 Honda Odyssey, which has been diagnosed with a transmission failure requiring full replacement due to faulty internal seals. The vehicle is less than one year old, and this type of premature failure raises serious safety concerns. I first became aware that something might be wrong during a routine oil change on November 11, when technicians noticed signs that the transmission might be leaking or malfunctioning. I continued to monitor the vehicle, and on November 28, I was informed that the entire transmission must be replaced due to faulty seals inside the transmission assembly. A critical component like the transmission should not fail this early in the life of the vehicle, and a structural defect such as faulty seals may indicate a manufacturing issue that could affect other vehicles of the same model and year. Information from the dealership: SHEEHY HONDA OF ALEXANDRIA Diagnosed transmission failure caused by faulty seals Recommended repair: Complete transmission replacement Explanation: Premature failure of internal transmission seals leading to fluid loss and unsafe operation Repairs completed so far: Diagnostic inspections confirming failure This vehicle is used to transport children, and a sudden transmission failure presents a significant safety risk. For a new vehicle to require a full transmission replacement within its first year of use is highly concerning. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether other 2025 Honda Odyssey vehicles may also be experiencing similar premature transmission failures. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I can provide repair documentation, inspection notes, photos, or any additional information upon request. Sincerely, Allison Epps 334-464-0233 [email protected] Vehicle: 2025 Honda Odyssey

The glass sunroof exploded on our 2022 Honda Odyssey. No prior issues, dents, etc., serviced consistently by the local dealership. While driving on the highway an explosion sound occurred overhead. No overpasses were nearby, nor were any projectiles witnessed. Thankfully, the interior sunroof shade was completely closed, preventing the thousands of pieces of broken glass from falling into the vehicle. Thankfully, we were also able to avoid an accident in the moment. Talked to local dealership and Honda Americas. Both simply said I was out of warranty, even though this is a massive safety failure. A simple google search will show this is a known issue across Honda Odyssey sunroofs, Honda CRV back windshields and Honda HRV back windshields. All of these cars should be recalled.

Auto stop/start struggles to start at lights or stopped traffic, rough idles and has already killed 1 battery, replaced under warranty and I'm having to charge my new one already since my car struggles to cold start sometimes! Incredibly stressful having 5 kids and 1car I spent a fortune on so it would last forever and it's a lemon I'm holding my breath doesn't strand us any time I have to break.

The front right sensor goes off randomly. Sometimes all day long for days, then nothing for a week or 2 then back to it. Various lengths of time, usually stressfully long times, with nothing aroundcausing stress and making fucus hard. It started a few months after getting the van. We cleaned it, had the dealer inspect it and no one has ever figured out why we have to live with this blaring warning alarm. The dash says object warning with it and if i close that out nothing stops the alarm but putting it in park which I can't do on the interstate or in pickup line at school

. When auto start/stop engages at stoplights and fails to restart radomaly but not always, the vehicle remains stationary and blocks traffic lanes when battery light turns on. This creates hazardous conditions where other vehicles must maneuver around a stalled vehicle in intersections, risking rear-end collisions and traffic disruptions. Dealer was not able to replicate Issue as this, i expeted this becouse happens randon times maybe based on weater or after driving for longer peroids . Dealership's only recommendation was to manually disable auto start/stop every time the vehicle is operated. This is unacceptable for a new vehicle and defeats the purpose of this safety

The power tailgate on my 2021 Honda Odyssey suddenly failed. A “power tailgate problem” warning appeared, and the tailgate became completely inoperable. It would not latch manually or automatically, even when applying force. The latch would spring back open, and no mechanical sound came from the door. Because the tailgate would not latch, the interior lights stayed on, and the vehicle continued to display “tailgate open” warnings. I could not secure the tailgate for driving, which created a safety hazard since the door could not be properly closed during travel. A few days later, both sliding doors also stopped functioning, and none of the powered doors (tailgate or sliding doors) would operate from the interior switches, exterior buttons, or key fob. The Honda service center inspected the vehicle and reported that the tailgate control module was corroded and had clear evidence of water damage. They stated that they would not replace the module until the vehicle was evaluated by a body shop because a water leak was likely present and would continue damaging components. The body shop later confirmed that water intrusion was entering through the upper left rear pillar, caused by a leak in the roof seam area. Water traveled into the rear side panel and damaged the tailgate control module and related electrical systems. Their findings were documented and also confirmed by my insurance inspector. Prior to the failure, there were no symptoms. The only warning occurred at the moment the system failed (“power tailgate problem”). The issue occurred without any impact, accident, or misuse. The defects caused multiple powered doors to become inoperable, which is a significant safety risk for both passengers and the driver. Based on publicly available information, this appears to be a recurring problem in 2018–2021 Honda Odyssey vehicles involving water leaks near the rear pillar leading to electrical control module failures.

The idle start stop feature constantly doesn’t work on our 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring. When stopped at a light or stop sign the engine will turn off COMPLETELY, causing me to have to put the car in park and restart the car. Also, sometimes the van will start, sometimes it won't. I replaced the battery and now it starts but it is still turning itself off in traffic. There have been several incidents where this is during rush hour traffic causing traffic jams and we have been very close to being rear ended. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it will actually turn over. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and should be addressed by Honda with a FREE fix for all owners. I've taken it to the dealership and, after scanning my VIN, told that my specific Odyssey doesn't have any open recalls or service bulletins... Seems every other Odyssey does, just not mine? For the EXACT SAME PROBLEM???
