- #11510414March 6, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
You have 87 complaints about the Forward Crash Avoidance / Braking System for this vehicle. Since my previous complaint, (#11470565) this unsafe, DANGEROUS, condition has occurred on two additional dates. Nearly all of the complaints that I read, mention the same issue: you are driving along and the system forces the vehicle to brake to a stop or nearly to a stop, NEARLY causing numerous rear end collisions. It’s scary and DANGEROUS.

On 2/11/23, after having my car less than a month and having fewer than 1000 miles on it, I got a critical warning light that told me to stop driving as soon as possible because my 12 volt battery wasn’t charging and my vehicle was not safe to drive. My car had to be towed to the dealership and the power control unit needs to be replaced. I had no clues that I was going to get this warning so it came as a total shock to me that my car was no longer drivable. Luckily I was in a location where I was able to stop driving very quickly and was not on the highway. I was told this part is like the alternator on a non-hybrid car, so like it’s brain. Had I been in a place where it wasn’t safe to pull over, my car could have stopped abruptly causing a major accident. The vehicle has been inspected at the dealership and a part has been ordered. The earliest it may arrive is 3/14/23. This means my car will be at the dealership for more than 30 days. I thought this would qualify my car as a lemon under the lemon law but the dealer is telling me this is not the case because they have ordered the part and it is back ordered.

- #11509403February 27, 2023BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
System does not alert until a vehicle is directly behind our vehicle or does not alert at all. Vehicle was purchased 3 days ago. The front assist does not work or will work after you pull too far forward and already tapped the curb. We stood in front of and side of vehicle and alarm did not sound at all.

- #11507278February 14, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was driving on State Road 426 in Florida at 40 MPH. The weather was cool and sunny with light traffic on the roadway on both sides of the median. Suddenly, the vehicle “Hard-braked” on its own while my foot was on the gas pedal. The brake action lasted about two seconds and luckily the car behind me was not following too close or it would have rear-ended us.

- #11506701February 10, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The car intermittently slams on the brakes, often at high speeds, and the brakes sticks, leaving me potentially unable to avoid a rear-end collision. This has happened twice with no obstacle in front of the vehicle in the last month and once within the last month where an obstacle was ahead but at a far enough distance the AES should not have been triggered, let alone stick. The front sensors (behind the rear view mirror and behind the Honda logo on the grill) have been inspected for damage by the dealership and user. They are in perceivably good working condition. This problem appears to be connected to a similar malfunction with LKAS, in which the system is turned off (according to the vehicle displays and verified by following owner manual instructions) and the car is driven on a surface with no lanes (I.e. a dirt road) and LKAS indicates there is a lane departure. There is no option to turn either system completely off, which leaves the driver with no recourse in the event these systems malfunction.

- #11505060February 1, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
There have been approximately 10 times I was driving my CRV and was exiting the interstate onto the exit ramp with no cars in front of me and the automatic brakes came on attempting to stop my car for no reason. I took it to my local Honda dealership and told them what had happened and they said there was nothing they could do about it. This is a dangerous issue and could easily cause an accident.

- #11504679January 31, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
2021 Honda CR-V with about 17,000 miles. On at least 3 occasions, the vehicle activated the emergency brake warning and applies brakes, on 2 of the occasions, driving in a straight road with no vehicles or persons in sight. On another occasion, the brakes were also applied in the highway reducing the speed dramatically and almost causing an accident behind me, there were no cars nearby in front but on the lanes adjacent to our driving lane.

- #11504520January 30, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When changing lanes on a 60 MPH highway to avoid vehicles that were stopped, the brakes auto engaged and the car came to a stop. The driver coming from behind had to swerve into a ditch to avoid rear ending my car. Thank God nobody was injured this time.

- #11500959January 9, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The car was suddenly stopped by the automatic braking system at a time when there was nothing else around me and I was moving forward under normal driving conditions. This happened during acceleration around 20-25 mph. Thankfully, there was no one behind me as that might have caused a rear end collision.

- #11500721January 8, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving, using cruise control, usually at speeds between 35-45 mph, the automatic emergency braking will engage after a vehicle, formerly in front, has completed a right hand turn. That vehicle is no longer in front of my vehicle when my vehicle begins to brake. My vehicle was automatically maintaining distance and not accelerating. I informed the Honda dealer of this at the 15,000 mile check up. The Honda dealer told me that the car was responding correctly through the side sensors. It is jarring to almost come to a complete stop and could cause a driver behind to rear end my car. This has happened at least four times.

- #11499434December 29, 2022FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On two occasions now, the Automatic Emergency Braking has engaged without there being an actual danger, meaning nothing in front. The first time I was driving at about 55mph on the highway and it engaged with a dash alert to brake and then proceeded to decrease my speed. Luckily, no cars were behind me or else I would have been rear ended. The second time, I was going 5mph at a grocery store parking lot and it did the dash brake alert and stopped. Again, luckily no cars were behind me. Honda will be inspecting the car this coming week but did not seem worried about my initial report. It wasn't until my second incident of 5mph that they suggested taking a look at it.

The back two bolts in the driver seat were never installed at the factory, thus the back of the seat is not attached to the car. The dealership did not notice on the PDI. I drive it for a month before I noticed it.

- #11495373November 29, 2022FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My car has done this phantom braking multiple times before, however this time it managed to pull my car into a curb and pop my brand new back tire and ruin my front tire. This is a huge safety issue because if there was anyone in front of or behind the car could’ve caused a major collision. I have done some research and noticed this has been an issue on previous years of my vehicle. I feel unsafe driving my car and my dealership has basically told me there is nothing than can do and that is not acceptable with me. The fact that my life was put in danger due to a malfunction with the forward collision warning is absolutely ridiculous. I will probably never buy another Honda if something is not done to correct the issues.

Unknown- I did receive a letter appears to be from Honda Automobile Division stating a EPS Gearbox Replacement. NHTSA website didn't have any recalls for my 2022 Honda CR-V. Honda dealership didn't appear knowledgeable with the recall and said they haven't had anyone else come in for the repair. Is it a legitimate recall?

While driving with a passenger across Salt Lake City on I-15 yesterday, going the speed limit and no surrounding vehicles, the passenger window imploded into a million tiny pieces sending glass all over the passenger and even as far as the driver (me). We did not see any evidence of a rock or other object hitting the window and there wasn't anything unusual inside the car. The outside temperature was 30 degrees and the car had been in a heated garage all night. The passenger had cuts on his hands, but he was wearing sun glasses which protected his eyes. He had glass pieces all over him. I honestly believe this was a spontaneous event, but I suppose there is a remote chance that a rock could have hit the window. But there weren't any cars in the area or overpasses.
