Upper bezel of front grille blew off driving down the hwy landing in oncoming lane of traffic. This is a known problem to GMC on late produced 2022 model year and issued a safety recall #XXX to replace the bezel and reinforce mounting points. I bought my 2023 GMC XXX and it was made in [XXX] so good chance it was made in 2022 and I could of had one of the faulty grilles. If not GMC still has a problem with upper grilles detaching while driving. I have talked to my dealer and GMC customer satisfaction with no help offered. I have bought a new grille and installed it. I own a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with the 3.0L Duramax diesel. The vehicle developed severe transmission problems, including harsh/jerky shifting and a hard clunk when shifting into reverse. The vehicle was subsequently diagnosed with an internal transmission failure. The repair facility informed me that the transmission gears had failed and caused damage to the transmission and stated that the failure appeared to be related to a manufacturing issue. The repair facility also advised me to watch for a future recall because they believed this could be a widespread issue occurring in other vehicles. I am submitting this complaint so the failure can be documented and considered along with other reports of transmission failures involving this vehicle.NOTE FROM AUTOSHOP:TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURE DESIGN FLAW, NOT DUE TO THE CUSTOMER'S DRIVING HABITS. THE PUMP ORIGINAL DESIGN IS WITH SLANTED GEARS AND THE GEARS ARE FORCED AWAY FROM EACH OTHER AND PLACING TOO MUCH STRAIN THE BEARINGS ANI THE BEARING FAIL. AN UPDATE PERFORMED TO HAVE STRAIGHT CUT PUMP GEARS TO AVOID BEARING DAMAGE. CDF DRUM AND CENTER SUPPORT CHANGED TO UPDATED PARTS THAT ARE HEATED TREATED TO AVOID DAMAGE

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V060000 (Structure). However, the recall remedy failed, and the front grille piece flew off the vehicle while driving at an undisclosed speed. The contact stated that the grille was loose, and the contact returned the vehicle to the dealer and informed the dealer that the recall repair was already performed. The dealer confirmed the failure but stated that the vehicle was previously repaired as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 48,500.

Vehicle has been maintained at GM authorized dealership according to manufacturer recommendations. 6.2L recall was performed as recommended by manufacturer at approximately 25k miles. Engine failed at 36000 miles. The failure created a safety situation where vehicle suddenly lost propulsion power on the interstate. GM replaced the engine with a remanufactured engine. Vehicle was out of service for approximately 90 days. My family has lost confidence in the vehicle and unfortunately because of the now known issues with this engine the vehicle has lost significant value, making it nearly impossible to trade the vehicle in for something reliable.

I am reporting a recurring potential safety defect involving the front fender liners on my 2024 GMC Sierra 3500. The vehicle currently has approximately 10,000 miles. During that time, at least five front fender liners have been replaced across both sides of the vehicle for the same recurring problem. During highway driving, the front fender liners appear to lose their intended shape and rigidity. Portions of the liner deform or move inward and make physical contact with the rotating front tires. The condition has continued to recur despite multiple replacement liners being installed. I am concerned that continued contact between the liner and tire can generate friction and heat and could potentially cause damage to the tire, liner, or surrounding components. Because the condition occurs at highway speeds and involves direct contact with a rotating tire, I believe it represents a potential safety issue rather than simply a cosmetic or durability problem. Replacing the liners with the same components has not permanently corrected the condition. After approximately five liner replacements in only 10,000 miles, I am concerned there may be an underlying issue involving the liner design, material rigidity, mounting method, or aerodynamic forces acting on the liner at highway speeds. I have reported the recurring issue to GMC/dealer service and am requesting that the manufacturer investigate the underlying cause rather than continue replacing the liners with identical components. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA has a record of the repeated failures and can determine whether similar incidents have been reported on other 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles and whether the condition warrants further investigation.

6.2 liter engine failure @ just over 100,000 miles. Prior to 100k miles I had taken to the dealership for sporadic loss of oil. They confirmed that the oil had been upgraded previously as instructed by GM so must be another source of the leak. Engine locked up while driving down the road. Had to have the vehicle towed and the mechanical said the motor is shot, and related to lower camshaft bearing issue. The only warning signs were the low oil light which happened around the mid 90k miles, so I would monitor that. When the engine failed there was no low oil light on, it just started shaking/vibrating and then kicked out. I think hte mileage read right around 103,000 approx. when it died.

Purchased a used 2021GMC SIERRA in Mar. 2025 from W&K GMC Sedalia Mo. Two mths ago ([XXX]) noticed an occasional slipping in transmission, wheels lock up. The truck would slip, lock for 1-4 seconds and then return back to normal driving. Has done this while accelorating and while driving down the highway. I took truck to my local repair garage who indicated it was most likely the torque converter and it would need to be taken to the dealership for repair. After mechanic commenting that he had seen several GMCs with the same problem, I looked up GMC recall and found that this issue did have a recall on 2020 - 2022 GMC SIERRA TRUCKS ( ours is a 2021)! When my VIN did NOT show any recalls, I called W& K GMC in Sedalia on 9-23-26 and spoke with the shop who told me MY truck did not have the recall notice and it would cost me $160 out of pocket for a diagnostics and $600 -$800 for a converter to even be flushed to see if problem resolved PRIOR to any part replacement. They would have to charge me full price for this repair since MY VIN DID NOT HAVE A RECALL, BUT THE SAME TRUCK MODEL, YEAR, AND ENGINE HAS OTHER RECALLS? I called GMC customer service line on 9-23-26, spoke with customer service agent Tanika, she documented the same info. and could not explain why a 2021 Sierra with the same problem as a 2020-2022 Sierra was not included in this recall that it must have been manufactured in a different facility? The fact that my local garage mechanic in a very small town, has already seen SEVERAL GMC trucks with the SAME PROBLEM, leads me to believe this is a WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM, that GMC is choosing to ignore due to the cost of repairs involved. I am requesting an investigation into HOW MANY RECALLS HAS GMC SENT OUT AND REPAIRED? AND SPECIFICALLY WHY AFTER 3 YRS OF PRODUCTION BY GMC DO THEY BELIEVE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS ONLY CERTAIN VEHICLES AND NOT ALL THE VEHICLES? This is a huge safety concern if wheels lock up on hwy at 70mph due to malfunctioning TC INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF I

The contact owns 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerated and stopped independently. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with fuel pump driver control module failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump driver control module needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with Technical Service Bulletin: 24-NA-139 (Fuel Pump Driver Control Module stalling or no-start conditions); however, the VIN was not included in the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that the vehicle was under warranty. The failure mileage was 54,238.

While turning right and at a slight incline the truck engine turned off, the transmission made a grinding noise, the truck went into neutral and the dash stayed “Press Start Button”. This is the second time this has happened within 5000 miles of the struck being purchased. Several others have reported the exact same issue on Facebook forums.

integrated trailer brake control system goes in and out of working order while towing either one of my trailers. one being a boat trailer and the other being a travel trailer. Have taken to local GMC dealer several times and they changed the rear plug the first time, which did not fix the issue. big safety concern if I can't stop my vehicle and what I am towing. Dealer claims it is most likely trailer issue but both these trailers brakes work perfect when towed with other truck. I see that they are having a big problem with this but they claim my VIN number is not included in the recall. Yet I am having the exact same issues. I get on and off warnings TRAILER BRAKES DISABLED SERVIC REQUIRED 10 to 30 times during a one day drive. And yes the trailer brakes do not work when this happens

Often blows blue smoke and oil out exhaust, and uses more engine oil that would ever be expected, especially when pulling a load. I took it to Rusty Drewing GMC dealership IN Jefferson City, Missouri, and they told me everything was fine, that they could not find a problem.

The front upper grill broke and flew off the truck at highway speeds nearly causing a wreck. Zero previous damage. Simply broke at the connecting points without cause. . Pretty unreasonable for a 75000 dollar truck to have the upper grill just dislocate itself and nearly cause a major wreck at highway speeds

On [XXX], my vehicle suffered a complete loss of propulsion on the highway, displaying fault codes P0324 and P0016. The vehicle was taken to Boyd's Tar Heel Chevrolet in Roxboro, NC, where the engine block was replaced under the official GM 6.2L engine safety recall. The truck was delivered back to me, and on the very first day I drove it—only 28 miles from my house—it suffered a secondary catastrophic loss of propulsion on the highway on [XXX]. The check engine light began flashing violently, indicating an immediate catalyst-damaging safety hazard, and the vehicle displayed fault code P0307 (Cylinder 7 Misfire). The dealership explicitly instructed me to stop driving the vehicle immediately, authorized the recovery, and told me to bill the tow directly to them. After towing the vehicle back to their facility, Boyd's Tar Heel Chevrolet reversed their position. They are now attempting to hold me financially responsible for the towing fees, along with spark plugs, wiring, and fuel injector services, claiming the failure is due to routine maintenance. This represents a severe highway safety hazard, a direct failure of the manufacturer's official recall remedy, and potential dealer misconduct to avoid liability under the active NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA26005 for post-recall 6.2L engine failures.
