The front passenger side headrest in my 2015 Dodge Van deployed in April 2024. Head rest deployment is a known issue. The dealership told me the headrest was under an extended warranty due to the issue. The dealership placed the headrest on back order for 1.5 years. Now that the headrest is available at the dealership, the dealership is refusing to install it under the extended warranty. The dealership is stating that the warranty expired while the headrest was on back order and they are not obligated to honor the warranty.

MINIVAN HAS SLIDING DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILURE, DRIVER SIDE. UNABLE TO OPEN SLIDING DOOR MANUALLY OR WITH POWER DOOR MOTOR. LOCK/UNLOCK LATCH IS STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN CASE OF VEHICLE CRASH OR FIRE. EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH OLDER MODELS. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A WARRANTY BULLETIN (D-21-15) FOR FACTORY REPAIR OF THIS SAME ISSUE FOR 2015-2017 MODELS. THE EXACT SAME ACTUATORS ARE USED IN 2018 AND 2019 MODELS.

The passenger side sliding door is locked into place the power actuator has gone out. An entry way is locked putting people in danger, one way in one way out for 5 rear passengers. Multiple model years have a reoccurring issue. The failure of the sliding door lock actuator is so common that it prompted thousands of owner complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). While it never led to a formal safety recall, NHTSA did open a preliminary evaluation (PE21-016) In response, Chrysler (FCA/Stellantis) issued several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), including TSB 23-017-20 and TSB 23-001-25, instructing dealers to replace the faulty actuator rather than the entire latch assembly. No warning signs of failure dealership is saying my vin doesn't count but I'm within 15 years of vehicles service and under 150000 miles.

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started jerking, lost motive power, and the RPMs elevated to the red line. The contact pulled over to the side of the road with the engine running, but the vehicle was unable to drive forward. The vehicle had experienced transmission failure. The vehicle was towed to a local transmission shop where it was diagnosed and determined that an internal transmission pump failure was preventing transmission fluid from pumping to the clutch. The vehicle was repaired out of pocket. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The automatic transmission failed while driving, causing a loss of propulsion and leaving the vehicle stranded. This created a safety hazard because the vehicle could no longer accelerate or move out of traffic. This is the fourth Chrysler/Dodge vehicle I have owned that has experienced a substantially similar transmission failure.

The vehicle experienced a sudden transmission/powertrain failure while driving. The transmission began slipping, with engine RPM increasing but the vehicle failing to accelerate normally. The vehicle would move very slowly or not move forward at all, creating a significant safety risk in traffic because the driver could not reliably accelerate, merge, or clear intersections. Prior to complete failure, symptoms included delayed engagement when shifting into drive, sluggish acceleration, and slipping under throttle. There were no clear warning lamps before the incident, or any warning indicators were minimal/unclear. The issue worsened rapidly. Inspection by a service center/dealer confirmed the transmission fluid was extremely low and identified a failed transmission pump. The dealer refilled the transmission fluid, but the vehicle still would not move, confirming the failure was not caused by fluid level alone. The dealer advised that the transmission had sustained internal damage and required full transmission replacement. This failure appears consistent with numerous reported transmission pump and powertrain complaints involving the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, including delayed engagement, slipping, loss of propulsion, and sudden transmission failure. The failed components should be available for inspection upon request

- #11742088June 4, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the roadway an dfailed to restart. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine bay. There was not warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to AAMCO Transmissions, where it was diagnosed that the water pump housing had split in half. The water pump was replaced. The contact stated that shortly after the repair, the thermostat gauge started fluctuating and the vehicle overheated. The vehicle was taken to JJ Auto Repair and Collisions, where it was diagnosed with catastrophic engine block failure. A new engine was purchased and installed on the vehicle; however, the vehicle suddenly stalled while driving 40 MPH. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with alternator failure. The alternator and the battery were replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where the battery was replaced. Additionally, AutoZone tested the newly installed alternator and determined that the alternator was faulty; however, several mechanics determined that the alternator was in good condition. The contact related the failures to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 20V278000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) and 18V524000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied reimbursement for the expenses. The failure mileage was approximately 90,489.

Automatic sliding doors will not unlock or open at all- not manually, not with the inside door buttons, not with my key fob, and not with the automatic buttons on the front ceiling of the van. I have 3 young children all 5 and under. This is an EXTREMELY dangerous fault that puts all of their lives into danger! The inconvenience of a grown adult having to climb through the back hatch to lock her kids in is annoying yes but my concern is how I'm supposed to safely get to them if we were in an accident! My husband can not get to the kids at all as he is well over 6 foot and can not fit. I'm trying to get the dealership to fix the issue but they're telling me that there is no recall even though I thought I received something in the mail awhile back. The message that appears when we try to automatically open the door is that we should first unlock the doors to which we already have. The lock will not move when you manually try to unlock it either.

The driver's window was left unrolled last night and it rained. When I got in the car, the electrical window control for the driver's window wouldn't roll up. But the others appeared to work normally. This was annoying, but it didn't stop my from driving to work. About half an hour into my drive, the window controls started smoking. I pulled to the shoulder and waited by the side of the highway until the smoke stopped. After the smoke stopped, the car drove fine - but none of the window controls appear to work. I Googled, and there seems to have been a recall for a similar issue for earlier Dodge Caravan models. But nothing for the 2016 Dodge Caravan. I'm hoping that maybe Dodge can fix my window control panel too.

My rear passenger slide door has recently started buzzing when you press the unlock button. The lock itself will not move so it is not locking. We tried to get this fixed at our local dealership, they told us that it was under the 10y/100k miles warranty, we have 66k on the van. They then told us that they would have to remove a trim piece and they would break it and we would have to pay for it. Then, they told us that we were actually lied to and its not under warranty because the warranty is 3y/30k miles.

- #11738233May 16, 2026AIR BAGS
In August 2024, the airbag system in a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan (VIN: [XXX] ) deployed unexpectedly while the vehicle was parked and not in operation. There was no collision, impact, or known external trigger at the time of deployment. The malfunction involved the airbag restraint system and/or related electrical or control components. An unexpected airbag deployment creates a serious safety concern because it could injure vehicle occupants or bystanders and indicates a potential defect in the restraint system. The vehicle was immediately taken to Banister Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Hampton, Virginia, where it has remained since the incident. To the best of our knowledge, the vehicle has remained in dealership/manufacturer custody and should be available for inspection. The manufacturer indicated they were reviewing the matter and determining the value of the vehicle; however, despite extended time passing, no repair, replacement, or written resolution has been provided. The issue has not been reproduced because the vehicle has remained out of service since the incident. It is UNKNOWN whether the precise cause has been formally confirmed by the manufacturer or dealership. No injuries occurred, but the incident placed the safety of the owners and others at risk because a critical safety restraint system deployed without warning while the vehicle was stationary. Documented NHTSA recalls affecting Dodge Grand Caravan airbag systems and related models demonstrate prior manufacturer awareness of airbag-related safety defects. Although this VIN currently shows no open recall, the spontaneous deployment raises concern regarding unresolved or inadequately corrected airbag system defects. No known warning lamps or dashboard messages were specifically recalled prior to the incident. Any additional warning indicators are UNKNOWN.
