POWER TRAIN
The transmission has been slipping since the truck was brand new (<100 miles) and has always slipped but recently became worse and slips all of the time. This is a known issue with this transmission and should be included in the recall. The transmission slipped going around a curve and almost lost control of the vehicle.

POWER TRAIN
Rear end went out within drivetrain warranty period. Chevy claimed it was due to a leak even though there was no evidence of one and they couldn’t produce the part. Almost immediately after getting it back it started to have transmission problems (8L90). They again claimed there wasn’t a problem. The truck now has 120,000 miles on it and we are replacing the transmission after it would drop gears and, finally, wouldn’t go into reverse.

SERVICE BRAKES
July 2024 my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado got a message of 'brake system failure will not go over 43 mph'. Computer reset twice by local tire dealership. On Thursday September 26, 2024, while driving breaks STOPPED working. Vehicle would not come to a complete stop. Brake pedal hit the wall and still not working. Had to release the gas in order to put the vehicle into a complete stop. UNSAFE, VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. ALMOST CRASHED. Had to get a wrecker to tow it home.

This has happened multiple times, most of the time going at a low mph while turning (I.e into a driveway). However, it has happened driving through a residential neighborhood as I’m going straight or turning. My truck will completely power off and I will lose access to the steering. The steering wheel will lock up, any systems (radio, A/C, etc. that were on will go off). Multiple time I have had my battery/alternator checked after these instances and my battery/alternator passes with flying colors. Luckily each time it has happened I haven’t been in traffic, but if another car was around or expecting me to make a full turn, it could have run into me while my truck just shut down in the middle of the turn. I had to restart the whole car to be able to move out of the way. These instances have happened intermittently and seemingly at random. When I took it to a dealer, they didn’t know what it was and couldn’t reproduce it. Insurance, police or other have not inspected it - again it happens intermittently. There haven’t been warning lamps prior to these instances, but when it happens it says stabilitrak warning or another message on the screen as it shuts down completely.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving with a trailer connected the display in the truck will say trailer disconnected. Then the light will go away and come back on. The trailer plug and the trailer are connected and the plug is tight. When this happens the trailer braking system is disabled (trailer has no brakes) I can plug the same trailer to Ford or Dodge with no issues. Have had the Chevy to the dealer 4 times now and they are unable to duplicate the problem. I have researched the problem on the internet and there are a lot of discussions of other people having the same issue. GMC has replaced the trailer control module, but this did not fix my problem. I am at the point the dealer and GMC are giving me the run around. I bought this truck for commercial use and frequently haul trailers. It is very unsafe when the brakes on the trailer are disabled.

We just arrived to our out to town destination and exited the vehicle. We drove 80 miles to get there. The truck was running when we noticed white smoke coming from under the hood then immediately large red flames.

I am filing a complaint regarding an electrical fire in the junction box of my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. The issue began when the front passenger side marker light would not turn off. I disconnected the battery overnight to troubleshoot the problem. However, when I reconnected the battery the next morning, an electrical fire occurred in the fuse junction box under the hood. At the same time, the engine unexpectedly attempted to turn over and start on its own. I immediately disconnected the battery again to stop the fire. Upon inspection, I found that several wires, plugs, and the top half of the junction box had sustained significant damage.

The contact stated the air bag warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 used for hauling a 2024 Grand Design RV. The contact stated that on several occasions while towing the trailer, the messages that the "Trailer Brakes Disconnected "and "Trailer Brakes Reconnected" were displayed but disappeared every 5 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

At 10mph to 30mph every other week I will get a sudden brake lock up and release for a split second. There are no codes that get thrown, it is very dangerous... being a disabled veteran, I did check is it says all my recalls have been done but I don't think they were done right.

The contact stated while stopped at a traffic signal, the light signal changed, and the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle accelerated to approximately 10 MPH, then the vehicle independently stopped. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was taken to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was no problem with the brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

I would like to report a hazardous issue with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado trailer braking power mode. The trailer braking system turns on and off when the loaded trailer is connected; this represents a security hazard since this truck is used for work and we move heavy pieces of metal and glass. This issue was reported several times to the dealership Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL. Also, the manufacturer provided a letter indicating the replacement of some parts. As indicated, I took the truck to Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL, on [XXX] for the corresponding service; however, the truck is still presenting the same issues. We tried different trailers, including a U-Haul trailer, and still had the same dysfunctionality. Please advise how to proceed. The way I can best describe it is my vehicle falling apart, either due to cheap parts. Or poorly being put together. I was driving down the highway at about 65 miles an hour, when suddenly I hear something smack what seemed to be my headlight, then again snack into my drivers side mirror. I had not seen anything on the road previous to this or anything in the air so it seemed strange to have “hit” something. I was about an hour from my destination still so when I arrived I checked out my headlight. I then discovered I hadn’t hit anything, a piece of the fascia of my truck had blown off in the wind, which was the first sound I heard, then proceeded to impact my drivers side mirror. I’m not sure how long it was in the air or if it had impacted any vehicles on the highway behind me.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Engine shut off while driving on the freeway (70mph), lost steering and braking capacity. lucky to make it to shoulder, The failure is the Fuel pump control module, second time(first failure at 48k miles, second at 98k miles) this has failed (part # 13558813). once this fails part is impossible to find. repair technicians at dealer says this is a very common failure. To my knowledge part has not been inspected. Dealer is not an option for repair due to the length of time they will keep vehicle (in key west was going to ve 3 months before they could look at it,) this failure the local dealer in Athens Ga, did not have a diesel mechanic to repair (not sure why this needed a diesel mechanic), Warning lights/message is : Reduced engine power....but did not say why reduced, engine just slowed and shut down in very heavy traffic.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly shuddered and lunged forward. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the torque converter. The contact was also informed that the dealer observed metallic flakes inside the transmission fluid. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

The tailgate on my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 opens randomly. Initially, it was not often, but progressively happening. I had to pull over in rush hour traffic this morning to shut the tailgate after it opened randomly. The only reason I knew, was checking the rear camera.

POWER TRAIN
Transmission shudders when starting off and slams into gear when down shifting. Took truck to dealer while still under warranty and was told that GM states this is "normal operation" and refused to perform repair under warranty. Now that truck is out of warranty period, GM is saying that transmission needs work at a cost of $6000 for torque converter and valve body assembly GM is well aware of the issues they are having with their Transmissions and refuses to fix or update..
