When accelerating, it started around 35 mph, I would be driving and it would feel like hitting a speed bump, even though there wasn't a speed bump. Over the past month, it has moved to about the 45 mph, and the rear wheels completely lock up for a second, cause the tires to "squeal" as if slamming on the brakes. It gives anyone in the vehicle a whiplash effect. Any loose items in the truck will go flying. It is a scary situation and I am worried it is going to cause damage to myself or my passengers or cause an accident. The term given to me by the dealer is "Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-Up". They were very familiar with the issue, but since my VIN wasn't on the recall, they wouldn't do anything. This has happened numerous times, starting back in early March. The issue has escaladed and gotten worse. The latest date is noted below.

Brakes sometimes require more pressure to stop or slow down. Transmission shutters and makes a clunking noise between shifting points. Kind of a sound bad u-joints make. Air Conditioning leaked all freon out in 2024 with 70k miles just 2mos. after service at a GM Dealership. Still not repaired.

On 4/18/25 I was driving to work and was about 2 miles from work when I started to get all kinds of faults displaying on my screen. The engine started to run rough; it sounded like it was not running on all cylinders. After work I drove it straight to the maintenance shop I have been using. They informed me that a lifter failed and went into the cam shaft and created all kinds of metal. I was informed that this was the second Chevrolet Silverado they have had this problem and replaced the engine.

While driving the transmission shifted very hard felt like it was going to shatter or lock up this happen twice. It also lacked power due to not shifting properly. It coded for transmission issue. I spoke to 2 different Chevrolet dealers service writers, the 1st did noy have a transmission but told me this was a known issue that the valve body for the transmissions fails and recommended another dealer. The dealer notified transmission valve block failed a known problem with the valve block being on back order due to this issue. The truck know sits at the shop awaiting repair. If the transmission fails or locks up in a 2500 truck, could be towing a trailer like I was, would result in an accident.

Valve Body failed - truck currently at dealership The valve body failed as I was pulling out of a gas station - emergency brake immediately engaged and kept re-engaging as I was trying to make it across the street into the parking lot. Truck could not go more than 5 mph and I was stuck and almost hit. Problem has been confirmed by the dealer after it was towed directly there. Unknown if component has been inspected outside of service department. Truck initially would not remote start using key fob, but then made it to gas station fine without any further symptoms. After gas station, car started severely shaking then emergency brake engaged and would not accelerate.

Truck has been making a clunking sound for over a year and has gotten worse. Recently took to Jim’s Transmission to have transmission evaluated. Have been told that transmission needs to have a rebuild or new transmission $4500-6000. The truck has just over 67000 miles on it. Understand that there are class action suits regarding Gm being aware of the flaw in the transmissions. I have contacted both Chevy dealer and GM via certified letter and GM via email, and received no response regarding a goodwill repair.

My husband was driving our family truck onto the highway to merge into traffic, when he lost all engine power, several dash lights turned on, and a clanking noise started. This was an extremely dangerous situation because the truck stalled, while trying speed up into highway traffic. He swerved to avoid cars and pulled off to the right shoulder. This a major safety issue because if either of my teenage daughters had been driving the truck, they would likely not have been able to avoid an accident! Mechanics confirmed the truck had suffered a catastrophic engine failure while driving. The dealership confirmed a lifter failed causing the damage. They said the whole engine had to be replaced. GM offered to pay half of cost, proving they know this is an issue. The truck's not even 5 years old, so the fact that engine would just stop while driving, when we had kept up with regular maintenance, sounded bizarre to me. I researched online and learned of 2 class action lawsuits (CA & MI) claiming GM knows about this defect in their engine and continuing to sell trucks with the same safety issue. Not more than 2 weeks after our incident, hundreds of thousands of the 6.3L engines were recalled after a NHTSA investigatio. GM has issued several service bulletins internally on "failing lifters", but has not told the public of the safety hazard. The service bulletins acknowledge the issue, recommending GM mechanics use a lighter oil (SAE-0W20 instead of the customary SAE-0W40) or change the oil more frequently. (service update N212353840). But car owners don't know this! GM is putting lives at risk, as no one expects their engine to completely give out while on the highway. Thankfully, my husband has been driving for 35 years. Had it been a younger, more inexperienced driver, they would not have been able to recover from the engine failure, especially while merging into high speed traffic - causing a crash, injuries and possibly death. The public deserves to know.

A few month ago this 2020 Silverado check engine came on in the middle of driving. It stopped shifting and almost caused an accident because it wouldn’t stop. I took it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong. Today, it is doing the same thing with faulty shifting, especially during first and second gears and when I initially accelerate. It is jumpy and worried and accident will happen if the car stops shifting like before. The check engine light is on again

Owner from brand new (16 miles) multiple complaints through ownership of harsh shifting, jerky throttle on and off, excessive engine braking, and have been stuck on the side of the road 3x due to the same situation. Never was a code thrown so I was continuously told there’s “nothing wrong.” On [XXX] I was driving [XXX] out of Denver making the climb towards [XXX] to home. As I had my cruise control set at 65, out of nowhere my truck locked up what seemed to be the rear wheels completely, causing my rear end to sway violently. I immediately slowed down and pulled over with no indications or lights being illuminated on my dash. I turned the truck off and let it sit for 10 minutes and restarted it. Having no issues I signaled back onto [XXX] and the truck accelerated to nearly 65 with no issues. As I hit 62 on the dash it again locked up the rear tires. I again pulled over, this time questioning what could be causing this, knowing the first time indeed was what happened. I put my truck into park, and still had no warning lights or check engine light. I then put my truck into neutral and then clicked the auto button thinking maybe something with the rear end is locking my brakes up. Upon doing so I again entered the roadway, big mistake on my part as this time upon reaching 60+mph all 4 tires simultaneously locked up. How I didn’t roll, I have no idea. Easily the scariest set of events I’ve ever faced while driving and that’s considering all of the insane drivers on our roadways today. I literally lodged a complaint with Chevrolet the same day I bought this truck before ever even leaving the dealers lot, and have had zero communication from them other than myself reaching out. They have ignored the problem literally from day one and it easily could’ve cost me or someone else their life. I’m appalled that to date they are still selling these trucks, replacing the valve bodies with the exact same faulty ones, and allowed to put others in danger constantly. Unknown system or component failure. Vehicle is available upon request to inspect. My families safety was at risk, power steering goes out while driving, all service lights come on, vehicle goes into “limp mode”, would go in and out of gear while driving, gears won’t work properly (P,R,D…), when shifting into R camera won’t come on. This problem is continuing. Have not been able to get it into dealership. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, dealership, or insurance. Stabilitrak notification, and all service lights go off. No problem or symptoms prior to failure. Vehicle was well maintained and I have service records of every repair, oil change, etc.
