STEERING
The issue I experienced is with the steering. Intermittently, the steering will 'freeze' or stick and requires MUCH more force to turn than normal. It is mostly evident when going in a straight line and trying to make slight steering input. The additional force to 'unstick' the steering often causes too much steering input, resulting in over-correction. This issue makes it very difficult to stay centered in a lane, and sometimes the over-correction results in going into another lane. The dealer acknowledged there was an issue but stated no corrective action could be taken until Acura sent a TSB or recall. This is unacceptable as it is often a safety risk. The inconsistency of the issue also is a safety impact as certain times the steering seems normal while others require at least 3-4 times the effort to make even a small adjustment. First occurrence is listed below but issue has occurred on almost every drive since that date.

Steering sticks. Steering sticks every time vehicle is driven more than 15-20 minutes at highway speeds with and without lane keeping assistance on. Very uneasy feeling driving this vehicle. First noticed problem the day after I purchased this certified preowned dealer loaner Acura Integra A Spek vehicle with 4000 miles on Jan 3, 2024. Reported problem to Acura Dealership where I purchased vehicle on February 8, 2024. Awaiting guidance from dealership and Acura representative.

STEERING
The electric power steering sticks when driving and does not self return. It sticks in one position. It seems to be worse on highways or at higher speeds, it will stick at a given angle or position. This is something that can be inspected upon request. Our safety is put at risk due to increased steering effort required which can cause perking motion from the position it's sticking in. It also is an ergonomic issue with having to constantly correct the stiffness. The dealership is aware of the issue but it has not been addressed or inspected for the issue. It is easily reproducible for it to be addressed. There are no warning lights for this issue.

I have been having this issue for over 6 months where the steering wheel get slightly stuck and I have to make an effort to correct the wheel. It is a constant need to correct the steering left and right. It becomes very tedious to drive and I am worried the steering is getting worse.

The steering wheel sticks and/or takes more effort to turn when traveling >30MPH. The steering wheel does not return to center on its own at these speeds. When the steering wheel sticks during a turn (as if it were in a notch) it takes more effort to get the wheel out of the notch and I have over corrected in a turn multiple times because of the extra force needed to turn the wheel. Symptoms started around 3500 miles, 3 months into ownership. Issue is inconsistent, not easily replicated except under precise driving conditions. at speeds <30 MPH, the issue is rarely present.

On 1/19/24 I took my 2023 Acura Integra in for an oil change at an Acura dealership. I notified the service desk staff member that for the past couple months I have been experiencing a sticky/notchy steering issue. I also mentioned that this issue has been reported frequently online with the other 2023 integras and other Hondas around the same year. Fortunately, I was able to accompany the service manager while he performed a quick test drive and he confirmed the issue at speeds of approximately 30mph. That day the dealership contacted Acura and determined that my steered rack needed to be replaced, however they would need to order a new steering rack. After over a month of waiting for the new part, there is no ETA when the dealership will receive the new steering rack. The dealership found that there were no logged errors. This issue still persists daily and makes it difficult to maintain the center of the lane when driving at speeds higher than 30mph. My car currently has approximately 13,000 miles and was purchased in October 2022.

When traveling in a straight line for more than a few seconds, it becomes noticeably more difficult to make small adjustments in steering. The additional force required increases the risk of steering more than intended, and often requires an immediate correction in the opposite direction. This is more noticeable at high speeds, but is almost always present after 20-30 minutes of driving. This is reproducible regardless of steering mode or lane keeping assist being active.

Steering wheel sticks at speeds over 20 mph. On the freeway, you have to overcome the resistance the steering wheel provides and has resulted in slight over correcting of the steering to remain on intended course. The car is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others are at risk if I make a poor over correction, which could cause me to lose control and/or crash in to other vehicles. No inspections at this point, I have an appointment with the dealer. No warning lights or other symptoms of the problem.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, STEERING
Previously reported car for “Sticky Steering” before ODI Resume and Investigation was launched. Car was at dealership for a few days short of one month. The gearbox was replaced. Since receiving car back, the steering wheel is off center visually and when driving. To continue driving in a straight direction constant pressure has to be applied to center the car to the right. The Lane Keep Assistance will not operate at highway speeds without swerving. Prior to the repair and before the notch steering developed at 9300 miles, the Lane Keep was very smooth and reliable, now it is a safety hazard. Acura stated that this is within normal operating modes. They cannot duplicate Service manager stated that he has customers who would love for their car to drive like this one. The tires are showing signs of wear from pulling. An independent mechanic drove the vehicle and stated that the rack and pinion was most likely installed incorrect with teeth not aligning. No fix but to replace again. Car currently has 12200 miles and has been in service since 4/23.

I've been having issues with the steering on my 2024 Acura Integra. It has roughly 8k miles on the odometer. There is an intermittent issue where it feels like my steering gets hung up/takes more effort to make a turn. When the issue recurs on certain drives, but doesn't occur at all on other drives. I've noticed the issue most frequently when traveling on the highway. The issue feels similar to fighting against the lane keeping system, but there are no warning lights and I'm not close to leaving my lane. I've had the issue occur when the lane-keep system is off and cruise control is off so I don't think it is occurring due to the safety systems. I see an open investigation into this issue and a technical service bulletin was released for the Honda Civic SI(same car mechanically). I've informed my Acura dealer, Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. They brushed off the technical service bulletin because its from Honda, not Acura. They're essentially the same car...

FOR SOME TIME NOW, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (35+ MPH) AND TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THERE WILL BE RESISTANCE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE MICRO-ADJUSTMENTS TO THE STEERING WHEEL AS YOU WOULD WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT (TO KEEP THE CAR AS STARIGHT AS POSSIBLE. A BIT MORE EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND ONCE SUCCESSFUL IN DOING SO, THE INPUT WINDS UP BEING TOO MUCH AND YOU HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL NOW IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO CORRECT THE OVER-CORRECTION. ULTIMATELY, YOU WIND UP BOUNCING FROM LANE LINE TO LANE LINE ON FAIRLY STRAIGHT ROADWAYS. THIS IS INDEPENDENT OF ANY OTHER FACTORS INCLUDING LKAS, LANE DEPARTURE MITIGATION AS WELL AS THE STERRING 'DRIVE MODE' (COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT). I CAN REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH COMBINIATIONS OF ALL OF THESE SETTINGS ACTIVE/INACTIVE. THIS ISSUE ALSO SEEMS TO APPEAR ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR INTO ANY COMMUTE.

I am having a sticky steering wheel issue and is available for inspection upon request. While driving I have lost temporary control overcorrecting the sticky steering while pulling into traffic and keeping the vehicle in the lane in heavy traffic. It creates an not predictable driving experience and feel extremely unsafe. I notice the steering wheel favors pulling left like its alignment is constantly off to the left. I have taken it to the dealer when it first started happening and we could not repo it then. It is happening more frequently and I will be scheduling a follow up appointment. My vehicle has no been inspected by the manufacturer, police or other insurance representative. There are no associated warning lights or messages. I noticed at first the wheel was pulling left before the sticky wheel problem occurred.

At under 3k miles I am experiencing something called “sticky steering.” The steering wheel will get stuck and I would need to use more force to turn the wheel. For example When making turns, the wheel should return back to its normal position when you let go of it. However, with the sticky steering issue, it does not and I would need to forcefully straighten out the wheel. This occurs at both low and high speeds and seems to be more prevalent in colder weather. A quick Google search seems to show a common issue with this generation Acura Integras and Honda Civics.

My 2024 Acura Integra is exhibiting the sticky steering wheel event that the Honda Civics are experiencing (EA23003 and PE23005). When driving at highways speeds the wheel becomes "stuck" in one position. When you go to make a small correction there is added resistance and when the wheel does move it moves abruptly due to the extra force required. This causes the wheel to move farther than needed / expected causing the car to abruptly at highway speeds. I've turned off the LKAS system and switched between all of the different steering "modes" to try and correct this. Found out that this is an issue with the Civics and now prevalent in the Integra. Very unsafe. I've also experienced it some on a curvy road which was quite disturbing.
