You will not receive a letter or direct communication from Kia regarding this update. Dealers performing this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.

For Display Audio 2.0 (D2V) units, the new software version is D2V.003.200.240318, applicable to models like Forte (BDm PE), Sorento (MQ4a), K5 (DL3a), Rio (SC), Carnival (KA4), Niro HEV (DE HEV), Niro PHEV (DE PHEV), Sportage (NQ5), and Sportage HEV (NQ5 HEV). The associated ECU Part Numbers include 96160 M7230, 96160 M7270, 96160 R5HFO, 96160 R5HAO, 96160 L3750, 96160 L3760, 96160 H9570, 96160 H9580, 96160 R0700, 96160 R0710, 96160 G5UBO, 96160 G5UDO, 96160 G5UEO, 96160 G5XBO, 96160 G5XD0, 96160 P1150, and 96160 CH020.
For AVN 5.0 Wide (AVN5W) units, the new software versions are D2V.001.001.230414 for Soul (SK3, VDS 4 Type) with ECU P/N 96160 K0810, and D2V.001.001.230417 for Seltos (SP2, VDS 5 Type) with ECU P/N 96160 Q5660. Telluride models (ON) will be updated to software version 240822 or newer from previous versions (240822 or older).
Repair Procedure Summary
The software update involves using a USB flash drive to load new software onto the infotainment head unit. The process varies slightly between Display Audio 2.0 (D2V) and AVN5W units.
For Display Audio 2.0 (D2V) Units:
- Turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' position.
- On the infotainment screen, select 'Setup', then 'General', and finally 'SW Info/Update'.
- Insert the prepared USB Flash Drive into the USB slot (A) located underneath the AVN unit.
- Select 'Update' and confirm with 'Yes' when prompted. The system may display a message like "Update to the next version now?" with a software version such as "SK3_PE.USA.0000.141.000.230414".
- The update process can take 15 to 20 minutes. The system will then display "The system will restart." and reboot.
- After the update, verify the software version has been correctly updated.
For AVN5W Units:
- USB Preparation (Technician/Dealer Step): Download the update files from the Kia Navigation Updater website (https://update.kia.com/US/EN/Main) using a computer. Select 'Navigation Updater Download', choose 'For Windows' or 'For Mac', then 'United States' and 'Kia'. Agree to the terms and conditions. Copy the downloaded files to a new or formatted 64 GB USB flash drive. Confirm the formatting process by selecting 'Yes' when prompted.
- Turn the vehicle ignition to the 'ON' position. If the vehicle has a 'Vehicle Auto-Shut Off' feature, turn it 'OFF'.
- On the AVN screen, select 'Confirm' and then press the 'Power' button (A) to turn Radio/Media 'OFF'.
- Select 'Setup', then 'General', and finally 'SW Info/Update'.
- Insert the prepared USB Flash Drive into the USB slot (B) underneath the AVN unit.
- Select 'Update Now' and confirm with 'OK'. It is recommended to leave the engine running during this update, which can take up to 1 hour and 25 minutes. The system may display "Preparing System Update" or "Updating...".
- After the update, confirm the software version has been correctly updated.
Phone Pairing Procedure
If Kia CarPlay Android Auto connectivity issues persist after the software update, or if the phone cannot pair, perform the following steps:
On the Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):
- Ensure the latest operating system (iOS or Android) is installed.
- Go to 'Settings' > 'General' > 'CarPlay®' (for iPhone) or 'Settings' > 'Connected Devices' > 'Android Auto™' (for Android) and delete all previously added vehicles.
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Bluetooth®' or 'Settings' > 'Connections' > 'Bluetooth®' and delete all previously added vehicles.

- USB Flash Drives (VDS 1, 4, 5 Type): These were auto-shipped to dealers with the release of TSB ELE338/SA569. If a USB Flash Drive is broken or lost, dealers can purchase replacements from Snap-On by calling 1-888-542-1011.
- 64 GB USB Flash Drive (for Telluride ON models): This must be locally sourced by the dealer. The software update file is available for download from https://update.kia.com/US/EN/Main. USB Flash Drives are not distributed to dealers for Telluride models.
