During evaporative emissions monitoring, this control unit may enter a sleep state, leading to a data error. This error prevents the TFE/IFM from communicating correctly when the vehicle is subsequently started, resulting in the engine cranking without starting.

If an RSU is not available for a particular vehicle, or if the RSU software version is older than 11/2023.42, the vehicle's software will need to be updated via ISTA. Technicians must determine the vehicle's current I-level using AIR or the Key Reader/Aftersales Workplace (AWP) application. Programming via ISTA requires connecting a battery charger to the vehicle, connecting the vehicle to ISTA, determining the measures plan, and then executing the programming and encoding steps. ISTA version 4.44.1x or higher, released in February 2023, with the installed service data package is required for this procedure. It is crucial that programming is performed with the specified target integration level or a more recent version.
