2024-2025 Audi MIB3 Radio Settings Lost TSB

Audi has released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 2074612/2 to address a software-related concern affecting the MIB3 infotainment system in certain 2024-2025 Audi A3, S3, RS 3, and Q3 vehicles. Owners may notice that various personalized settings are not retained after the vehicle's ignition is cycled or after being parked for an extended period. This issue, commonly described as the Audi MIB3 radio settings lost problem, stems from a software glitch.

This bulletin, identified as 91 PSS MIB3, is a revision 2, published on August 29, 2024, and supersedes the earlier TSB 91 24-29 dated July 18, 2024. The updated bulletin includes a temporary workaround for affected customers.

Symptoms Owners May Notice

Owners experiencing this issue may observe one or more of the following conditions:

• "The radio stations saved as favorites during the last trip are no longer stored, after the ignition has been switched off and back on again, or after the vehicle has been parked for an extended period. (In certain cases, only the frequency 88.3 MHz is displayed)."
• "The navigation settings are not saved or are lost after the ignition is switched off and back on. (Last destinations, favorites, etc.)."
• "The sound settings (e.g., balance / fader) are not saved or are lost after switching the ignition off and back on."
• "The setup wizard is displayed repeatedly even though it has already been completed."

Important Warnings for Owners and Technicians

Audi has issued critical advisories regarding this software issue:

• "No repairs are necessary at this point. Do not replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the customer's concern."
• "Replacing parts or attempting repairs will not fix the problem. Unjustified labor / replacement parts will be charged back. Invoicing under warranty is not permitted."

This means that replacing hardware components will not resolve the Audi MIB3 radio settings lost issue and any such attempts will not be covered under warranty.

Diagnosis

Workshops can generally reproduce the described behavior under the conditions reported by the customer. The root cause has been identified as a software issue within the MIB3 system.

Temporary Workaround

While a permanent software solution is being developed, Audi suggests a temporary workaround for customers experiencing the loss of settings. This involves resetting the MMI system to factory settings:

1. On the home screen of the MMI system, select "Settings."
2. Navigate to "System Maintenance."
3. Choose "Restore factory settings."
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

Be aware that performing this reset will restore all settings to their factory defaults. This includes navigation destinations, paired cell phones, connected WiFi devices, and key user settings for Audi connect functions. The setup wizard will also need to be completed again after the reset.

Manufacturer's Solution

Audi is currently developing a permanent software solution for this condition. The implementation of this solution is estimated to be completed in December 2024, though this timeline is subject to change. Technicians are instructed to create a Pending Service Solutions (PSS) record in the PSS application via AccessAudi for affected vehicles.
