This TSB supersedes an earlier bulletin, Group 91 number 24-40, dated August 29, 2024, with revisions including updated release dates and the addition of a software filter.

Symptoms

Owners of affected 2023-2024 Audi vehicles may observe that the time shown on their instrument cluster and/or the MMI display is incorrect. While the time usually synchronizes itself again after a few minutes of driving, this intermittent issue can be a nuisance. The workshop findings confirm that the complaint, often related to the Audi Q8 incorrect MMI time, can be consistently reproduced.

Diagnosis and Trigger Conditions

Audi has identified the root cause of the "incorrect time shown on the instrument cluster or MMI display" as a software issue within the MIB3 system. This means the problem is not due to a faulty hardware component but rather how the vehicle's software manages time synchronization.

Important Warnings for Owners

Audi explicitly states critical information for both owners and technicians regarding this issue:

• "Do not replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the customer's concern." This warning emphasizes that replacing parts will not fix the incorrect time display and could lead to unnecessary costs or delays.
• "There is no reason to replace parts or attempt repairs. Unjustified labor/replacement parts will be charged back. Invoicing under warranty is not permitted." This highlights that any attempts to replace hardware for this software-related problem will not be covered under warranty.

Temporary Workaround

If you are experiencing the Audi Q8 incorrect MMI time repeatedly, a temporary workaround is available. You can manually set the time in the MMI system.
