Important Update: Alternator Back-order Loaner Support

Audi has issued an important update for dealers regarding loaner support for customers affected by an alternator back-order. This communication, effective February 1, 2023, outlines the revised guidelines for reimbursing costs associated with providing loaner vehicles to customers whose vehicles are awaiting alternator replacement due to parts delays. This policy aims to support customers impacted by the alternator back-order.

Loaner Reimbursement Guidelines

To qualify for reimbursement under this program, several conditions must be met. The need for a loaner vehicle must specifically be due to a parts delay for the alternator. Dealers are required to make every effort to provide an Audi-branded loaner vehicle. If an Audi loaner is unavailable, a loaner sourced from outside the dealership may be provided. The reimbursement amount is capped at $50 per day. Additionally, claims are applicable only to vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) and must have an active warranty key U56.

Dealers must use specific claim coding to process reimbursements for loaner vehicles. The coding varies depending on when the loaner period began.

Alternator 3.0L Customer Outreach Program

Audi also offers an Alternator 3.0L Customer Outreach Program. Under this initiative, customers may receive a $5,000 incentive towards the purchase or lease of a new Audi vehicle. This offer also includes a four-year Audi Care Package. This incentive is incremental to any other eligible and applicable incentives currently in the market. Alternator Dealer Inventory Assistance Program

For dealers with affected Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) and pre-owned Audi vehicles in inventory that are grounded due to the Alternator 3.0L back-order, an Inventory Assistance Program is available. These vehicles will receive varying levels of support based on their model year and specific model, as outlined in bulletin A22UINV9. This program aims to mitigate the impact of the alternator back-order on dealer inventory.

Important Notes for Owners

For any CAP (Customer Accommodation Program) claims that were previously submitted, no further action is required from the owner. However, claims may be reviewed for accuracy, and documentation of loaner support must be retained with the repair order. Any claim that does not meet the specified criteria will be charged-back to the dealer.
