Audi of America (AoA) has announced several programs to support customers impacted by an ongoing alternator back-order. These initiatives aim to mitigate inconvenience for owners of 2022-2023 Audi vehicles experiencing alternator failures and subsequent parts delays. The programs were detailed in an After Sales Newsletter issued on January 5, 2023.

Background: Alternator Back-order

Many Audi owners are facing delays in repairing their vehicles due to a back-order of alternators. This parts shortage can leave vehicles inoperable for extended periods. To address this, Audi has introduced specific support measures to assist both customers and dealer partners.

Audi Branded Loaner Support

Effective December 22, 2022, Audi of America will reimburse dealers for providing Audi branded loaner vehicles to customers whose vehicles are awaiting alternator replacement due to parts delays. This support helps ensure mobility for affected owners.

To qualify for this reimbursement, specific conditions must be met. The loaner must be required due to an alternator parts delay, and the vehicle must be a branded Audi. It should be sourced either internally by the dealership or through Audi on demand. The reimbursement amount is capped at $30.00 per day.

Dealers must follow SAGA claiming instructions for reimbursement. The relevant claim details are: Claim Type 2SK, Service Number 2726, Damage Category 0015, and Labor Operation LOAN 1600. The claim comments should specify "Loaner provided for alternator failure."

Alternator 3.0L Customer Outreach Program

For customers who prefer not to wait for repairs, Audi is offering an alternative solution. Owners affected by the alternator back-order can receive a $1,000 incentive towards the purchase or lease of a new Audi vehicle. This incentive is additional to any other eligible offers currently available.

Further details regarding this program can be found in bulletin A22UCOP2. This initiative provides an option for customers to transition into a new vehicle if their current one is impacted by the prolonged parts delay.

Alternator Dealer Inventory Assistance Program

Audi is also supporting its dealer partners through an Inventory Assistance Program. Dealers who take affected customer vehicles on trade and place them into their inventory are eligible for monthly assistance. This support amounts to 2% of the actual MSRP per month for these vehicles until the necessary remedy parts become available.

Bulletin A22UINV9 provides comprehensive details for dealers on this program. This helps dealers manage their inventory and continue to assist customers during the parts shortage.

Important Warnings

Audi Warranty reserves the right to review all claims for accuracy. It is crucial that documentation of loaner support is retained with the repair order. Any claim that does not meet the specified criteria for reimbursement will be charged back to the dealer. This ensures that the program is utilized correctly and for its intended purpose.
