Audi's Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is a crucial step to ensure every new 2021 Audi Q7 and SQ7 meets the brand's high standards before it reaches the customer. This comprehensive checklist, documented in the Audi Technician Report, guides certified Audi technicians through a series of inspections and verifications. The goal is to confirm all systems are functioning correctly, and the vehicle is prepared for optimal performance and safety.

This 2021 Audi Q7 PDI checklist covers everything from basic vehicle preparation to advanced driver assistance features, ensuring a seamless ownership experience. It's designed to catch any potential issues and configure the vehicle's settings for the U.S. market.

General Technician Guidelines

Before starting the PDI, technicians must follow specific instructions. An Audi-approved battery charger should be connected to prevent excessive battery discharge during the inspection. Guided Fault Finding (GFF) must be used, and the session completed and sent to GFF Paperless. The Total PDI Test must be finished before any other scan tool work. It's also important to start GFF with the engine running to identify control modules in transport mode.

Initial Vehicle Checks

The PDI begins with thorough checks of the vehicle's preparation and exterior. Technicians must verify open campaigns and updates using Elsa and ensure the Audi phone box customer registration form is present. For vehicles equipped with the Audi phone box, the serial number, FCC ID, and model information must be added from Elsa, as detailed in TSB 2051720. Other initial steps include performing diagnostics work, installing the front license plate carrier if necessary, and inspecting the exterior for any damage or scratches.

Key exterior and lighting checks involve verifying all key buttons and features, proper power closing of doors, and testing exterior lighting functions. Windshield and headlight washers are also tested, with aim correction if needed. Trunk inspection covers verifying power tailgate operation, installing the wheel bolt cover removal tool, and confirming the tool kit, tire repair kit, or inflatable spare tire and compressor are present and secure.

Interior and System Settings

Inside the vehicle, technicians verify the operation of various components. This includes the luggage cover, seat belts, window, lock, and seat controls, as well as all mirrors and interior lights. Heated steering wheel, heated/ventilated and massaging seats, and manual/power folding seats are also checked if equipped. Climate control, power outlets, and the panoramic sunroof and sunshade operation are verified.

Crucial settings are configured, such as verifying MMI® touch screen operation, setting the time to "Automatic setting" and "Automatic time zone," and verifying and setting language and measurement units. The Speech Dialog System's functionality is also confirmed. Parking aid settings like "Entertain. Fad." audible level and "Music volume while parking" are set, and the "Manual Speed Warning" is turned off.

On-Hoist Inspection and Driving Performance

An on-hoist inspection involves checking the steering, boots, brake system, hoses, tires, and wheels for damage, fluid leaks, and loose components. Wheel locks, bolt covers, and center caps are installed, and tire pressures are set and stored. The PDI also includes a driving performance test to check horn operation, electronic parking brake, engine Start-Stop System, engine performance, acceleration, and transmission operation, including shift paddles. The vehicle is test-driven with multiple brake applications, and adaptive air suspension is checked. Steering/tire alignment is verified, and any squeaks, rattles, or wind noise are addressed. Radio reception in AM/FM/SiriusXM® bands and all-wheel steering operation are also confirmed.

Driver Assistance System Verifications

Driver assistance systems undergo thorough verification. Technicians check cruise control and ACC with Traffic jam assist, Audi side assist, Audi active lane assist, night vision camera, and parking system operation. A critical step is to "Activate rear cross traffic assist (if equipped)". Other checks include traffic sign recognition, Head-up display functionality, and High-beam assistant operation. Navigation is activated, and directions are followed back to the dealership.

Post-Road Test Procedures

After the road test, several items are checked. The SOS button and Roadside assistance button LED must remain off, though the emergency call system may take up to 20 minutes to activate after flight/transport mode deactivation. The vehicle cannot be delivered until the emergency call function has been successfully activated (LED lights up green). Technicians must interrogate the fault memory and upload the diagnostic log to GFF Paperless Server. Service intervals, engine oil level, and all fluid levels are checked and topped off if necessary. The yellow tire pressure tag is ensured to be on the steering wheel. Finally, a 30 Day Inventory Maintenance Sticker is applied, and a showroom charger is installed to maintain battery charge.

Audi Connect Activation

For USA-only models, Audi Connect features are activated. This includes turning on the Wi-Fi® hotspot (if equipped) and enabling satellite map view for navigation. Wi-Fi® hotspot visibility is checked, though no data is available at PDI.

Important Information for Audi Phone Box Owners

For vehicles equipped with the Audi Phone Box, specific Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements and warnings apply. Owners should be aware of the following:
