Repair Procedure Summary

Addressing the Audi e-tron parking aid fault involves a specific re-bonding procedure for the sensor brackets. The repair process begins with preparatory steps to ensure proper adhesion.

First, the rear bumper cover must be removed. Technicians then remove any old adhesive tape from the bonding surfaces of both the rear apron and the affected sensor brackets. These surfaces are lightly sanded or scuffed to improve adhesion. Next, the surfaces are thoroughly cleaned using plastic cleaner D 009 401 04 or an equivalent isopropyl alcohol solution and allowed to dry for five minutes. A thin coating of primer D 822 150 A1 is then applied to both the rear apron and the bracket, requiring a 10-minute drying time. All affected brackets should be prepared up to this stage before proceeding with bonding.

For bonding, special tool VAS 6614/C, a PDC holder tool set, is used. The appropriate holder from this set is selected to center and clamp the mounts. The parking aid bracket is slid onto a centering pin of the VAS 6614 tool and pushed through the rear apron. A counter-hold tool is then slid on from the outside, and a knurled nut is tightened slightly. The bracket is aligned to its correct position according to markings on the rear apron. A clamp is slid on, and another knurled nut is screwed in but not yet tightened.

Plastic adhesive D 180 KU2 A1 is then applied to the areas between the parking aid bracket and the rear apron. It is critical to discard the first 3-5 cm of adhesive from the mixing nozzle as it may not be properly mixed. The knurled nut is then tightened to compress the mounts. This step is repeated for all affected brackets. After bonding, a minimum drying time of 30 minutes is required before removing the jig. During this period, the rear apron must remain undisturbed. Finally, the rear bumper cover is re-installed, and the system operation is confirmed to ensure the Audi e-tron parking aid fault is resolved.
