Manufacturer's Remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Continental and directed to contact their tire dealer or car dealer to schedule an appointment. Dealers will inspect all four tires on the vehicle. If any tires are found to be affected, they will be replaced free of charge. The reimbursement for tire replacement, mounting, balancing, and handling will be managed through the dealer's tire vendor, distributor, or a representative of the tire manufacturer.

There are two primary labor operations associated with this recall: Labor Op 0183 00 99 for inspecting all four tires when no replacement is needed, and Labor Op 4440 50 99 for inspecting and replacing one or more tires. Both operations are allocated 20 time units. Vehicles identified with criteria K1 (unsold new vehicles) must use the exact Continental ProContact GX AO tire model for replacement. Vehicles with criteria K2 (retail sold units) can use substitute tire models that meet minimum requirements.

New Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: Dealers should not deliver any pre-owned vehicles in their inventory which are involved in a safety or compliance recall until the defect has been remedied.
