ENGINE
This car has an oil consumption problem but Volvo advises it will not repair. Other, similar models have similar oil consumption problems that are the subject of recall. This was also subject of class action lawsuit We have had to spend hundreds out of pocket to repair. Why isn't this model year in the recall? Other years - same engine - before and after this are subject of recall?

The sunroof on this vehicle shattered while I was driving. A loud bang and a shower of glass ensued. There were no vehicles directly ahead of me or aircraft flying overhead when the incident occured. I wasn't insured and was able to pull off the road to inspect. No flying object hit the glass as some suspect. The glass shattered on its own. There have been no issues with the sunroof and opening/closing/tilt functions operated as normal. The vehicle will be inspected and repaired at a dealer.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This car has bricked itself in my garage twice in as many months. It is a Plug in hybrid and is plugged into power the entire time it breaks. This problem was preceded by my alarm randomly going off for 1 second and then stopping. This alarm problem just sounded off again a few minutes ago (less than a week from getting my car back from a week long stay at the dealership) I go camping and hiking and this car is totally unacceptable in how unreliable it is. The number of T8 volvos with similar issues... you can't pay 70k for a car you can't rely on. It's a year old. Unacceptable.

SEAT BELTS
The contact owned a 2015 Volvo V60. The contact initially received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V378000 (Seat Belts). One- and one-half years after receiving the notice, the recall repair was performed at a local dealer. While driving 25 MPH, the contact suffered syncope and struck a tree. The seat belts failed to restrain him and his passenger. The Low-Speed Collision Avoidance and the Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake Systems failed to operate. The passenger struck her head on the windshield. The contact and the passenger were transported to the hospital. The passenger was treated for a severe spinal injury, severe lacerations to her head, a paralyzed vocal cord, fractured ribs, and sternum, a hematoma in her chest, and a fractured right index finger. The contact sustained fractured ribs, a fractured sternum, a fractured right pinky finger, as well as a hematoma in his chest and pain in his lower back. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic and later to an impound yard and deemed a total loss. A police report was filed. The manufacturer, Volvo, has now been notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 70,377.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
THE MAIN DRIVER INFORMATION DISPLAY WENT BLANK WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. IMPORTANT OPERATING INFORMATION SUCH VEHICLE SPEED, TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS, FUEL REMAINING ETC., WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DRIVER. THE CENTER DISPLAY FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM HAS ALSO GONE BLANK TWICE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE TAILGATE WILL OPEN ALL THE WAY AND A SPLIT-SECOND LATER WILL DROP ABOUT 15 INCHES. BOTH MY WIFE AND HAVE BEEN HIT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY THE TAILGATE BECAUSE OF THIS.

Water is leaking inside my 2015 Volvo V60 from the windshield creating a distraction while driving. The Service Rep. from my Volvo dealer said they do no repair windshield seals, only windshield replacement. I brought my car to an auto glass repair shop. After 45 minutes of diagnosis, the mechanic confirmed there is a leak in the windshield seal. The windshield on my vehicle is the original and has never been damage or replaced.

I am afraid, someone may get KILLED. . . The car unexpectedly just starts to 'free wheel'. It all started approximately 6 weeks ago and progressively became worse. IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. I am a retired Software Engineer and worked in military defense for a government contractor. - - so, I know a software problem when I see it. My car just started to 'free wheel' (meaning, I have no control over the transmission or gas pedal). I was driving over by our local College and stopped for a light. When the light turned Green, I took my foot off the brake and pressed the accelerator. I went No where. . . (me - what is WRONG)? I pressed the accelerator again - nothing (the engine wouldn't even 'rev'). The car is still in gear, but nothing is happening! ! ! Now, what do I do? (the car is 'free-wheeling' - HELP - - no control or transmission). I am at a Green light and going NO WHERE. Then, in Panic (thinking this maybe a Software), I put the transmission in 'neutral' for a few seconds and then back in gear and put my foot on the accelerator. There is a hesitation, but the 'engine catches (can hear it slowly rev) and I start to move. Because it started while I was starting up from a STOP (at a STOP light), I thought it might have something to do with the 'Auto Stop / Start' function (actually, this exacerbates the problem). Then, Christmas day, coming back from visiting it happened again (I forgot to turn OFF the 'Auto Stop / Start') which is what I thought was causing the problem. BUT what made it much more DANGEROUS was: I was doing a 'left turn' on a busy street and almost got KILLED. So, all seemed to be OK, if I (remember) to turn OFF the 'Auto Stop / Start' function. UNTIL today, I was making a right turn on a busy street. As soon as I was over the railroad tracks, the car started to 'free-wheel'. ([XXX], NOW WHAT DO I DO)? I coasted to the right curb and 'glanced' over at the 'Auto Stop/start - it was ON (Oooh, NO). It just gets worse. . INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM

SERVICE BRAKES
The brake rotors exceed the manufacturers run out specifications and tolerances. This has been happening vehicles as early as 2018 model year. In my specific case I bought the car with 3600 miles on it as a certified vehicle from a Volvo dealership. On my drive home I could feel the braking pulsation in the steering wheel. The dealership measured the run out and it exceeded the manufacturers specification on all four corners. I then joined a Facebook Volvo owners group and found out there are several members that have had their rotors replaced by the dealer in many cases multiple times because they are either installing a non-conforming brake rotor or the part becomes defective with use well within the warranty period. If the vibration caused by the rotor run out continues to increase without mitigation it may cause the brake pads to deteriorate at a high rate reducing stopping distance or cause the vehicle to swerve.

STRUCTURE:BODY
The latch on the driver side door stuck in the open position and the door latch would not function. The door remained unlatched and unsecured. All of the door latches were replaced at the dealer on 28 Dec 2020 per recall R89978. The problem hasn't been confirmed by the dealer yet but is scheduled. The car was parked at the time so no indication of a problem until I sat in the drivers seat and the door remained ajar with the handle stuck in the open position.

SEATS
THE FRONT SEATS ROCK/WOBBLE BEYOND AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL AND PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. IT'S VERY SUBTLE BUT ONCE YOU NOTICE YOU CAN'T NOT NOTICE. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AT VERY LOW SPEED WHEN BRAKING (I.E. PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND SWITCHING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE) OR EVEN IN SUCH SIMPLE SITUATIONS AS GETTING INTO THE CAR. IT'S THE BACK OF THE SEAT THAT WOBBLES, BUT THE BOTTOM. I TOOK MY CAR INTO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT AS IT'S CAUSED BY A POORLY-DESIGNED PIVOT THAT IS PART OF THE SEAT ASSEMBLY. HE SAID HE THINKS THERE MIGHT BE A FIX OUT FOR THE 2018 MODEL YEAR BUT THAT THE 2017 HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE SAME DESIGN AND EVEN THOUGH HE HAS SEEN A NUMBER OF OTHER V60S WITH THIS ISSUE COMING UP. IT'S SIMPLY POOR DESIGN THAT IS PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE TO CORRECT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING A CAR WITH A LOOSE SEAT AS I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SHOULD I EXPERIENCE A CRASH. WILL THE WHOLE BACK OF THE SEAT COLLAPSE IF IT'S ALREADY LOOSE? I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE OR REPLACED FOR FREE BY VOLVO.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 VOLVO V60. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED INDEPENDENTLY BRAKING WITH THE CITY SAFETY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. VOLVO CARS ESCONDIDO (1938 AUTO PARK WAY, ESCONDIDO, CA 92029) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS STILL PENDING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500.

THE NEW VOLVO SUPPOSE TO COME WITH A SAFETY BELT WARNING FOR BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER BUT IN ONE SCENARIO IT'S NOT. IN THE EVENT THAT THE DRIVER IS SEATED AND IT'S BELT IS FASTEN ONCE THE PASSENGER SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIRBAG ALERTS TEH DRIVER THAT THE PASSENGER ARMED THE BAG BUT DOES NOT ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THE BELT IS NOT FASTENED. IN OTHER WORDS, I CAME TO PICK MY DOUGHTIER UP FROM SCHOOL LISTENIG TO THE RADIO, SHE WAS ON TEH PHONE, SET IN AND WE DROVE OFF, ONLY WHEN WE GOT HOME WE REALIZED SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE BELT ON.. NO WARNING ICONS NO CHIMES..VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IN THE EVENT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SITS IN THE CAR WHILE CAR IS PUT ON ALERT WILL SOUND AND WARNING LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE IF PASSENGER IS UNBUCKLED.

THIS WILL COMPOUND OVER TIME AND SHIFT THE REARVIEW MIRROR POSITIONS LOWER AND LOWER. STORED POSITIONS ARE NOT AFFECTED, AS RECALLING A SAVED DRIVER SETTING WILL MOVE THE MIRRORS BACK TO THE CORRECT STORED POSITIONS.

SHARP EDGE ON BOTTOM OF STEERING WHEEL METALLIC MOLDING CAUSED A INJURY. A LACERATION AND BLEEDING OCCURRED. INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TURNING. WHEN STRAIGHTENING OUT OF THE TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SLIDING PAST THE DRIVERS HANDS, CATCHING AND CUTTING THE SKIN OF THE DRIVERS FINGER. DRIVER NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AFTER PAIN CAUSED THEM TO RELEASE THE WHEEL FROM THEIR CONTROL.

BOROSCOPE REVEALED SPARK PLUG WAS MISSING TIP.ENGINE HAD LOW PRESSURE IN CYLINDER 30 VS 180. VOLVO WARRANTY WAS IN FORCE. MILEAGE 21325 MILES AT TIME OF EVENT WAS TRAVELING ON FREEWAY AND WAS EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY IN MAINTAINING SPEED CURRENTLY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET CLEAR PLAN OF REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT FROM DEALER DUE TO VOLVO NEED TO INSPECT ENGINE BEING DELAYED..
