From date of purchase… when truck accelerates from dead stop, drive train shudders for several seconds before fully engaged. Suspect issue related to software, hybrid enterface with drivetrain, torque converter not locking up. Dealer verified condition with test drive. Concluded it was operating normally. I don’t buy this explanation. Is it going to fail me entering traffic? Will it get progressively worse?

While traveling on US Highway 95 between Lewiston and Riggins, Idaho, a 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro with approximately 18,000 miles experienced a sudden loss of engine power while descending a mountain grade with multiple curves. The driver reported hearing abnormal engine noises immediately before the loss of power. At the same time, the brake pedal became extremely hard to depress and the vehicle did not decelerate as expected, requiring substantially increased braking effort. The vehicle was carrying family members and was traveling on a winding downhill section of highway adjacent to steep terrain. Due to the loss of power and increased braking effort, the occupants feared the vehicle would be unable to stop safely. Fortunately, a roadside pullout area was available, and the driver was able to steer the vehicle into the pullout and bring it to a stop without a collision. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle with a catastrophic engine failure requiring engine replacement. The failed engine remains in the possession of the dealership and should be available for inspection. Approximately five days before this incident, the vehicle had undergone routine maintenance, including an oil change and inspection at a Toyota dealership. The vehicle had also previously been presented for brake pulsation concerns and other drivability-related complaints. The vehicle was returned to service and represented as operating normally. No collision occurred and no physical injuries were reported; however, the incident created a significant safety risk because the loss of engine power occurred while descending a mountain highway and the driver experienced substantially increased braking effort while attempting to stop the vehicle.

Over the past several months my truck 2023 toyota tundra has randomly died, completely shut off and sputtered to a stop. After these instances occurred the vehicle has had trouble to re-start. As a result I took my truck into the local dealership in Topeka KS, Lewis toyota, which did not complete any of the recall work, they said that the inicident could not be duplicated. For follow up, I took my vehicle to crown toyota where its currently receiving body repair from an unrelated traffic accident. I have given the service manager Ryan Wingert the total background of what has happened verbally several times, outlining the vehicle randomly just shutting down and not being able to re-start until several minutes has past and computer reset occurs. I feel that the vehicle is un safe to drive and toyota is not honoring any proactive follow up with my claim, stating that the dealerships have not been trained on the procedures to perform the work or the repair and pointing toward toyota corporate offices for a fix. I'm exaughsted from the endless loop and I want to ensure I receive a safe and reliable vehicle back from toyota. To date, the dealership has had my truck in there possession over two months with no resolution. The type of customer service and lack of follow up on critical safety items I feel puts our roadways at further risk of continual accidents due to toyotas lack of engagement and follow up. I take full advantage of the freedoms we enjoy every day, being a service disabled Air Force Veteran of over 20 years of service, I take great pride in the active checks and balances holding us all accountable. I appreciate your efforts and follow up regarding my claim. Dont hesitate to email me or follow up by phone. [XXX] - [XXX], thank you! Vehicle has two open Toyota safety recalls that have remained unresolved for over a year. NHTSA campaign 25V322 (manufacturer no. 25TB06) covers reverse lamp assembly corrosion. NHTSA campaign 25V767 (manufacturer no. 25TB14) covers a V35A engine manufacturing defect where leftover machining debris can damage the main bearing, leading to engine knocking, rough running, no-start, or loss of drive power while driving. No engine symptoms have occurred to date. However, the vehicle is used for rideshare and delivery work, meaning passengers and cargo are regularly on board while this known defect remains unremedied. The dealership stated it could not address the engine recall and directed me to Toyota corporate. Toyota corporate opened a case and confirmed no remedy is currently available for this recall. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer or manufacturer, as no repair or inspection procedure has yet been provided to perform one. No warning lamps or dashboard messages have been observed. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Concern: a known crash-risk engine defect (loss of drive power) has been acknowledged by the manufacturer for over a year with still no completed remedy, while the vehicle continues to be operated commercially with passengers.

I brought my Toyota Tundra to Gullo Toyota of Conroe for a routine service and a recall software update. The truck went in with a perfectly functioning front camera, and it came back with the camera completely blurry. The dealership is only 10 minutes from my home — I noticed the issue the moment I pulled into my garage. I assumed the camera was dirty and cleaned it several times, but nothing changed. When I called the dealership, the service advisor told me that the recall software update “tends to do that” to Tundra cameras. My truck is a 2023 with only 28,000 miles, so he scheduled me for another software update. After dropping it off, I received a text an hour later claiming my front camera was “chipped” and that replacing it would cost $2,500. I went back in person to get an explanation, and suddenly the story changed: now they insisted the camera was damaged by a rock before I brought the truck in. The service manager even made the absurd statement, “This didn’t happen on my driveway or service area.” The advisor, Matthew McWhirte, claimed they have cameras everywhere, but when I asked to see footage, he had no answer. This is despite their own staff previously acknowledging that the software update can cause camera issues. They still refused to take responsibility or cover the repair. And here’s the thing: if the camera was accidentally broken by their drivers or mechanics, just be honest about it. Mistakes happen — lying about them is what destroys trust. When I escalated to the service manager, the situation got even worse. He was rude, dismissive, and condescending — making confident claims with zero evidence, contradicting what his own advisor had already told me. Instead of investigating, he doubled down on denial. A front camera is a safety feature. A dealership performing recall work that results in a malfunction, and accidentally breaks it, should fix it — not lie, deflect, and blame the customer.

Have owned the 2025 Toyota Tundra for about 18 months. Multiple instances of delayed acceleration when stopped or almost stopped, sometimes as much as 3 or 4 seconds. Last time was in early June, 2026. This is very dangerous because when I pull out into an intersection it will start to go but then lose all power for a few seconds with traffic coming behind me. This is something Toyota needs to look into.

I have only owned the truck since mid April of 2026. The truck has 12000 miles on it. I have only put 200 miles on the truck... 150 miles are driving to the dealership. Engine recall notification was sent out last week of May 2026. Still an open recall for reverse lights with no remedy. Took Tundra into dealer at the beginning of May 2026 to get two other "electronic/infotainment" system recalls repaired. I bought the truck used from a dealership. Had three open recalls (electronic x's 2 and reverse light). Got two of three fixed. A few weeks later I get the engine recall. Really Toyota... I took the truck to Maplewood Toyota on 5/28/26. There it sits waiting for repairs. I asked about getting out of the truck and my option was trade it in at KBB value ($45k-ish) I paid $57k and $3k for extended warranty for a total of $60k. I am not going to eat $15k on trading in the truck. Toyota should STOP selling vehicles with these engines NOW! These engines should not be on the road or being sold - PERIOD. Toyota still using the "debris" in engine from manufacturing in 2024 is criminal. We are talking about the debris issue in 2022, 2023, 2024 engines.... This is outright criminal. Shame on you Toyota. I am a Toyota buyer. I own a 2019 Corolla. My friends and family are also Toyota owners. This V35A engine is a complete failure and production should be stopped. I kick myself for not doing more research before buying the truck. I never would have purchased knowing the ongoing engine issues. Dumb me - I am buying a Toyota because I trust there is no reason to worry - boy was I wrong. Please hold Toyota accountable for this. Toyota should buy back every vehicle that has this engine if the owners want that option. Anyone with a 2022 - 2026 V35A engine - drive at your own and everyone else on the road - risk.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V767000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer called and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in because the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle had remained with the dealer since November 2025, but no financial compensation was provided. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but no assistance was provided. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Vehicle surges sometimes and repeatedly from a stop, with delayed acceleration; very dangerous when merging or moving from a stopped position into a flow of traffic (such as turning right on red). Vehicle sometimes will not move at all under acceleration, as if it has no gas at all. Vehicle is under recall for both of these issues related to the engine, but "no remedy available." Latest incident of surging was less than a week ago. Happens 2-3 times a day on average. Vehicle will occasionally randomly run rough at stoplights / idle speed. I have contacted Toyota regarding a buyback and they stated they "could not offer a buyback because they have not had adequate chances to fix the problem." So they have told me they cannot fix the problem, but won't buy back the truck because they have not had a chance to fix the problem (that they cannot fix). They have since stonewalled me and no longer respond to communications.

I purchased my 2023 Toyota Tundra new and immediately had concerns as at low speeds it jerked badly. This problem has not gotten better but worse. It is noticeable to passengers when riding in the truck. Early on the fuel pump quit and was replaced. The spark plugs were replaced after the dealership said this might be the problem. My issue is I purchased a $70,000 vehicle with the expectation it would be reliable and long lasting. After all it is a Toyota and that used to be the standard. Instead from day one of ownership this vehicle has presented issues. Issues that should be handled timely since Toyota knows this is an issue. I'm not comfortable drive long distances due to the possibility of breaking down. The response from Toyota is not acceptable in my opinion. Also, motors replaced earlier on were NEW and now they state when they get to mine & others it will be remanufactured. This doesn't seem fair and consistent when considering the overall impact this massive recall has caused.

Vehicle: 2024 Toyota Tundra Double Cab | VIN: [XXX] | Mileage: ~19,200 No crash or injury has occurred. This report concerns an unresolved safety defect. My Tundra intermittently fails to accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed from a slow roll (3-18 mph). The engine revs but the vehicle does not move for 1-2+ seconds before the driveline abruptly engages. This occurs at intersections and during low-speed traffic transitions. It is worse on cold starts. I have experienced sudden unintended deceleration while attempting to enter traffic. This vehicle is covered under Safety Recall 25TA14 / NHTSA 26V320 ("Engine May Stall During Driving"). The TSB remedy was applied at my dealer on June 11, 2026. The remedy did not resolve the condition. I have OBD-II logs proving the defect persists post-remedy. Using Torque Pro at 10 Hz, I captured 55 instrumented hesitation events on June 11 alone -- 18 on the drive to the dealer before the TSB, and 37 after leaving. The worst single measurement shows a 1.7-second delay between pedal input and throttle blade response. My full dataset spans 131 events across multiple drives. Highway driving is completely normal throughout; the defect is exclusively a low-speed tip-in condition. The dealer has been unable to duplicate the condition across five repair order presentations since February 2025. The vehicle spent 105 days in dealer possession with no repair performed. I am reporting this as a failure of the Recall 25TA14 remedy on this specific VIN. Full OBD-II logs, GPS data, timestamped event charts, and all service records are available on request. I have not had an actual vehicle accident as of yet but the vehicle has a serious hesitation issue during acceleration from a quick stop or rolling situation whereas if you were making a left turn at a traffic light and were waiting for traffic while execrating to clear the next on coming vehicle there is sometimes a 3 second or more delay before the vehicle will accelerate which could cause an accident. Toyota has recognized this issue and came out with a technical service bulletin (T-SB-0032-26) with an update program for the TCU but has not included my vin or several others that have this same issue. I have been told by my dealer that they could do the update but since my vin is not included they would have to charge me. This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed at no cost to the consumers. I have contacted Toyota brand engagement and they were no help at all acting like they had no idea what I was talking about. It happens every, everywhere. Major safety issue. Making complaints before accidents or fatalities happen because of this!

I have experienced a severe hesitation or delay in acceleration when accelerating from a stop or near-stop condition. While the issue has only occurred a few times over the past several months, on multiple occasions it happened while merging into traffic and nearly resulted in an accident. Toyota has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB-0032-26) addressing this condition. However, when I brought my vehicle to the dealership, Toyota documented that they were unable to reproduce or confirm the hesitation, and no repair was performed. This defect presents a significant safety risk. Unexpected loss of acceleration during traffic merges, intersections, or other situations requiring immediate power can place drivers and passengers in danger and could lead to serious injury or death. Given the safety implications and the fact that the remedy appears to be a software update requiring less than an hour to perform, I believe this issue warrants a formal safety recall rather than a voluntary Technical Service Bulletin. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter and require Toyota to provide a recall remedy for all affected vehicles.
