My 2024 Toyota Tundra imax hybrid started off with a knocking sound. I took it into a certified Toyota dealership to have it inspected. I was then told that they had ordered a part it needed to fix the problem. After not hearing back and the knocking getting louder. I reached back out and took it back for further inspection. They then told me that it needed a system update. After running the update, a couple of times later after diving the Tundra, it had a power issue when pushing the gas to accelerate. I then reached out to Toyota once again and took it back to be serviced. They told me that they test drove my truck and had no issues with acceleration. So I went and picked it up. Just a couple days after receiving my truck back, I was at an intersection with the blinking turn signal and attempted to take off when the truck completely stalled out. I had two cars almost crash into me, but barely missed! I started the truck back and went directly home. I then told Toyota about the situation and they told me to bring it back in. It then stalled again when I was taking it to the dealership. Once I got it back to the dealership and told them what happened, they said they would look into it. After they had it the first few days I never heard anything back, so I called to see what was going on with my truck. They told me that they were waiting to hear back from corporate Toyota for further directions from TAS. My truck then sat there for a few weeks. I kept reaching out to see what was going on and all they kept telling me is that they were working on it, and that they test drove the truck, but couldn’t get it to stall. I had the Toyota app on my phone, showing the mileage, and the mileage had never moved. Letting me know that they hadn’t actually test drove it. So after all of this, they never did any work on my truck. I was now scared to drive it, and honestly didn’t want it back.

The tailgate remote operation is inconsistent. it usually does not work and the tailgate has to be lowered by randomly applying pressure in different spots. Nothing seems consistent. Once it opens then it may work a few times then goes back to not working. This is true regardless of the "switch" used (Key fob, button on rear of vehicle in tail light assembly, button on the gate itself, switch/button on dash). I had it in the dealer 2 months after taking deliver and they told me it was fixed now a couple months later it is happening again.

While driving, the sunroof suddenly exploded without any external cause. The temperature at the time was approximately 42°F. The glass shattered throughout the interior of the vehicle, with pieces falling into my clothing and all over the cabin.I immediately contacted the dealership and was advised to visit the nearest Toyota location; however, there wasn’t one nearby. I had to cover the vehicle with a tarp to continue my 4 hour drive home. Thankfully, I was traveling alone—had my family been with me, including my [XXX] infant, this could have resulted in severe injury, as glass would have fallen directly on the car seat. The dealership later inspected the vehicle and found no evidence of any outside influence or impact that could have caused the explosion. I’m deeply concerned about the safety implications of this failure and would like to understand how Toyota plans to address this situation, as well as ensure this does not pose a continued risk to other drivers. - #11716778February 9, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE
While operating my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro under normal conditions, I started the vehicle and activated standard factory equipment including the seat heaters and window/mirror defrosters. Shortly thereafter, I noticed a slight acrid odor inside the vehicle, which quickly became more pronounced. I drove approximately 200 feet, and immediately returned to my driveway. Upon shutting the vehicle down, I observed smoke coming from the engine compartment. I opened the hood and confirmed smoke and signs of an electrical fire originating in the engine bay. I used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and then disconnected the vehicle’s battery. No injuries occurred. The vehicle was not restarted and was subsequently towed to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection. Visible damage is present in the engine compartment, including the main fuse/relay box and associated electrical components. The incident occurred without collision and during normal vehicle operation.

NHTSA 25V322 indicates potential issue with reverse lamp assemblies as well as the remedy. Recall Status indicates "remedy not yet available". It has been over 6 months (5/15/25 to 2/9/26) since this safety recall was filed. This has been an unreasonably long time and Toyota should be compelled to initiate the remedy immediately and provide a detailed explanation as to why it is failing to meet its own code of conduct with respect to product safety and the law.

The engine repair was a short block only, even thoe the main bearings spun and sent debis threw the engine. #1 rod went as well. Apon recieving the truck back, with in 200 miles, I've had the same hesitation with the engines as I had just before the first engine failed. Took it by the dealer and no issues found. oil preasure stays up and temp normal. I've had many issue with throtle lag sence day one. The milage has stayed in the low 11 gpm when before i would get on average 14 to 16. Dealer stated toyota would make it right if the engine fails again. Very unhappy with Toyota as I feel they are just kicking the can down the road.

Had recalled engine replaced on 12/6/25. on 1/22/26 took vehicle into dealership with issues with vibration in engine and hesitation at certain speeds, tonight 2/5/26 engine completely lost power at 65 mph on highway, dashboard flashing with every error to be had for Toyota engine. No power, rolled into emergency lane. Put hazards on. Turned engine off. Waited and engine was re-started and made it home. Extremely dangerous situation!!!

My reverse stopped working, it just shows a black screen when I switch to it. The rest of my entertainment console works, it's only when I put it in reverse that it goes black. I saw that there was a recall issued for 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tundras, but I believe that the 2023 should be included as well. It looks to be a common issue, as I saw 2023 Tundras with a higher trim package also had a recall for the backup camera.

Since Toyota has recalled these engines, they have failed to produce a solution. This engine was recalled due to a safety concern, but yet they have not replaced the engine, nor do they even have a timeline for when it might be replaced. We use our Tundra for long distance towing with a heavy trailer. This has created a situation that is very concerning and my wife and I no longer feel safe in a truck that an engine can just seize in seconds leaving us not only stranded, but potentially in the roadway. The engine just dies, there are no warnings. We have lost a substantial amount of money on this because now the value of our truck has declined, which is not the standard Toyota had promised. Toyota had told all of us that they fixed this problem back in Feb. 2023. My build was a June 2023 model. It should have been safe and been taken care of, but Toyota didn't fix the actual problem back then. Toyota has not stood behind the vehicle or helped out for financial losses.

Recurring throttle lag. At a stoplight or stop sign at a full and complete stop I press down the accelerator and nothing happens for about a second and a half. When it finally does respond, it jumps as if it was struggling to get into gear.

Vehicle stuck in 4WD HI after switching it from 2WD. Would not go back into 2WD. Did all the preventative maintenance including driving in 4WD HI once a month. Dealer claims is a switch outside the powertrain that is getting stuck. Replacement part ordered and will arrive in 4-8 weeks. Dealership saying I’m outside my warranty and part/labor will not be covered. My safety was put at risk d/t not being able to make appropriate turns when driving while truck was stuck in 4WD. No warning lights indicated 4WD system was not working appropriately. Truck would continue to show 4WD no matter what drive system I tired to use. Truck had no issues with 4WD system prior to this incident.
