SummaryAutomated Activation of Navigation System During PDI/QC1. INFORMATION Important: The INITIAL NAV enabling code no longer needs to be pre-ordered through the Parts department! When the vehicle is connected to the diagnostic system ISTA to perform PDI/QC1, the step to activate the navigation system (part of Delete Transport Mode) will automatically request the INITIAL NAV enabling code (VIN-specific) without pre-ordering the enabling code. This enabling code will be automatically delivered through ISTA and it then activates the navigation system. Note: This VIN-specific NAV enabling code is then also automatically stored in the Repair Kit in the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP). The automated INITIAL NAV enabling code request and activation of the navigation system will take no longer than 1 minute. After finishing "Delete Transport Mode," the navigation system in the vehicle will be active without entering the 20-digit INITIAL NAV enabling code manually or in ISTA. If the navigation system is not active and asking for the enabling code, turn off the ignition and wait for the head unit to enter sleep mode (approx. 3 minutes). After that, turn on the ignition again. The head unit will start up and the navigation system is activated. If the INITIAL NAV enabling code for first-time activation of the navigation system is not requested or delivered automatically, it still can be ordered manually through the Parts department and activated in the vehicle by entering the 20-digit enabling code manually.

SummaryService Action: Retrofit of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Internal corrosion could form in the engine coolant temperature sensor which is integrated into the thermostat housing (not replaceable). This corrosion leads to internal bridging of the contacts, which can cause an inaccurate engine temperature reading. This false reading could lead to difficulty in the engine starting or a "Service Engine Soon" lamp being illuminated.

The yellow "Service Due" warning message lights up in the instrument cluster, even though the brake pad thickness is more than 4.2mm (above the thickness at which the pad sensor intervenes). The calculated remaining service life for the brake pads (front and/or rear axle) from the CBS data does not match the actual brake pad thickness. Summary"N16 and N18 Engine Oil Leak. The customer states that a small engine oil leak can be seen from the underside of the engine. CAUSE The internal sealing of the oil pump volume control solenoid valve is compromised, allowing engine oil to leak from the oil pump volume control solenoid. DIAGNOSTIC Below is the procedure for identifying how far the engine oil has migrated inside the engine electrical harness, when this issue occurs, if at all. The procedure must be followed very carefully so that the proper repair is identified. 1. Disconnect the oil pump volume control solenoid valve electrical connection per Repair Instructions 11 41 519 ""Removing and installing or replacing the solenoid valve (engine oil pump)."" Inspect the electrical connector; if no engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure. If engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, proceed to diagnostic procedure step 2. 2. Remove the cover from the DME and remove all three electrical connectors from the DME. Inspect the connectors for traces of engine oil. If no engine oil is found, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure and replace the engine section of the wire harness. Refer to EPC for the additional part number. If engine oil is found in the DME connector, proceed to step 3. 3. If engine oil is found in the DME electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure, replace the engine section of the wire harness and replace the DME. Refer to EPC for the additional part numbers. Do not remove the engine oil pan. Do not replace the oil pump volume control valve. Do not replace engine oil pump. OIL PUMP VOLUME CONTROL VALVE REPAIR"

SummaryN16 and N18 Engine: Engine Ventilation Heating Faults Stored in DME Fault Memory After Programming. After reprogramming the vehicle to integration level R056-11-11-503 (ISTA/P P45.1.3.0) or higher, one of the following fault codes are stored in the DME fault memory: Vehicles with N16 engine: * 2F42 Engine ventilation heating, Control The Service Engine Soon lamp is not illuminated. Vehicles with N18 engine: * 37DE Engine ventilation, heating, triggering: open circuit The Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated. CAUSE Due to a DME software change, the diagnostic monitoring capability is improved for the engine ventilation heating system. However, a fault will be stored in the fault memory because the engine ventilation heater circuit has a malfunction currently present. One of the following may be the cause: * Loose or defective electrical connection * Missing or defective crankcase ventilation heater relay.
