My car randomly caught on fire, it was parked in my apartment garage for a week while I was out of town. I came back to use my car and my car remote wasn’t unlocking the car so i unlocked it manually. When I opened the car it wreaked of smoke, the windows were covered in soot, the visors were bubbled up, the passenger seat had a chunk missing. It was investigated by a car shop for My insurance and the car shop Said they felt like the fire started from the wires under the passenger seat. Of course it was deemed a total loss and now I’m out of car. I hadn’t even had the car a year.

On 4/27 I was driving home on the freeway and there were little to no cars around me. There were no large trucks or debris coming from above me and there was no harsh weather. I heard a loud pop when i was driving and I pulled over and my whole sunroof shattered. The sunroof also has not been opened that day. The problem won’t be suspension is that when going over rough roads or bumps, my car squeaks. As for the steering, when I drive above 50 MPH and I brake, the car shakes. I’ve already taken it to two car shops to get it fixed and it problem persists.

The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact noticed that the moonroof had fractured in half and then detached. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V197000 (Structure). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the backover prevention system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Inside the car smells gas either idle or running. Dashboard lights flactuate and sometimes the gas gage doesn't show how much fuel you have left. Command system shuts off after 3 mins even the engine is on. But mainly, the gas smell in the car. Have trouble breathing at times and I don't haveany underlying condition.

The fuel warning light illuminated indicating low fuel level. The ABS warning light was intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge remained on empty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

When accelerating, the car loses power. My teenager was almost hit by another car as she was trying to enter the highway via an off-ramp. It happens very often. This started occurring at 60k! When stopped with your foot on the brake or even in park, the car goes slams backward and cuts the engine back to a rev. This has been occurring since 37k. Additionally, there is a loud clunking noise when you turn the wheel. This has been occurring since 50k. Power seat on driver’s side loses all power and locks. This has been replaced/repaired three times! Glove box locked and will not unlock even with key. SOS e call not activated and I’ve called Mercedes numerous times. They can’t get the car to respond they say it’s a communication error on their end however the dealership wants to charge me $300+ to update the software when it’s their issue. Also 2 months before I purchased this car I noticed not only was this one of the recall issues that the dealership supposedly fixed. But from the beginning this vehicle has had nothing but issues. I shouldn’t have to pay out of my pocket for the manufacturer. I had received a complementary 3 months of the mbrace that I didn’t even get to fully use before the sos stopped working

Approximately several weeks ago, the check engine light illuminated in my vehicle. No issues were present at that time. Shortly after, approximately a week later, the vehicle began to stutter when reversing or driving on surface streets after being on the highway. The vehicle also would stall after the check engine light flashed several times. The vehicle would need to be turned off and turned back on to accelerate correctly and not stall. This has not been inspected by the dealer yet, a service appointment has been made. Mercedes recently recalled other models due to a water intrusion issue, but this model was not included, however it is exhibiting nearly the exact same symptoms.

P052E: Positive Crankcase Ventilation Regulator Valve Performance. It is available for inspection upon request. It was a problem that was confirmed by two independent service centers. It first appeared at around 30k miles, then the engine light disappeared. At around 40k, it starts to intermittently appears and disappears, most of the time the engine light was off, my mechanics checked at it, said it was not uncommon to see this problem with Mercedes and said it won't affect driving. At around 50k it starts to appear more often, still intermittently. I got a second opinion with another mechanics, was told again that he saw this happening commonly with Mercedes. Crankcase alone cannot be replaced, I'll need to replace the whole thing which part cost 750+, with 1200+ labor at an independent service center, and the local mercedes dealer quote double the price.

AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, STEERING
The system that appeared to malfunction is the front airbags sensors. I drove past an accident on the freeway the left by some rocks/debris in the road. I steered away from the rocks avoiding my tires, however, both of my front airbags deploy as if i collided with something. This has completely disabled my vehicle on the freeway, and shattered my windshield. I had the car towed to a repair shop for further diagnostic, and they confirmed there is no front end impact or collision on my vehicle. There is minor undercarriage scrapping, but it isn't near the airbag sensor. There were no warning lights on my vehicle prior to this, and my vehicle has been in no accidents. What caused my airbags to deploy if there was no impact?

SERVICE BRAKES
I was driving on the 210 interstate freeway at about 60mph. I saw that the cars around 0.25 miles in front of me had stopped due to traffic jam so i started braking. The second I started braking my boyfriend in the passenger seat realized the car wasn't slowing down so he told me you need to brake. So I started pressing the brakes hard and when I was around 10 cars away, I realized that I have already pressed the brake pedal all the way down and couldn't go any further but the brake still wasn't braking and didn't work. So I hit the car in front of me. Therefore the accident was caused by the brakes not functioning. My passenger and I was put in danger because of this as well as the person I hit. Luckily it was only minor injuries. Only I had bruises on my leg. I have found several articles stating that the same exact make and model have been recalled because of their brakes also failing. Before the accident, I realized that the brakes would make noise when I braked sometimes, so I brought the car to Mercedes dealership and mentioned to them to see if there was a problem, but they took a quick look at the inside of my car and told me everything is fine. There was no warning lamps messages or any other symptoms before the problem.

On May 10th while driving on I-35 Texas highway, the panoramic sunroof of our 2015 Mercedes Benz CLA 250 shattered the whole panoramic sunroof, my daughter describes as some shot at the car. there was particles of glass on the driver side and passenger, very dangerous situation. She pulled over into a gas station and noticed there were pieces of glass shattered all over the interior some. The second incident happed about 2 weeks ago on the recalled part, while driving the panoramic sunroof stationary roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof part came off while driving and hit the behind, luckily no one was harmed during the incident. I took the recalled letter to the local Mercedes in San Antonio refusing to fix the recalled part and apparently the part is not available and there is no date as to when is going to be available, in the meanwhile we can't drive the car. Also it took almost 4 months to replace the panoramic roof, I will file another complaint about the panoramic roof, apparently this is a common thing with this model CLA250.

On May 10th while driving on I-35 Texas highway, San Antonio Texas, the panoramic sunroof of our 2015 Mercedes Benz CLA 250 completely shattered while wife driving and daughter as a passenger, they heard a big bang and suddenly pieces of shattered glass fell all over the interior some of the glass hitting my wife and daughter in the face, they immediately pulled over to evaluate the situation. This could have caused an accident or significant injury. She had SAPD meet her at a gas station as she thought someone has shot at the glass, but officer confirmed that indeed the panoramic sunroof completely shattered. We tried to fix the panoramic roof and both Mercedes dealerships in San Antonio and Boerne Texas refused to repair the panoramic sunroof, we had to file a claim with our insurance and take the car to a collision center. The collision center stated that the sunroof was on back order from Mercedes Corp and had no timeline as to when the part would be available. Due to the car was not safe to drive and timeline on the parts, our insurance offered to total the car, but the car is almost new, low miles and in perfect mechanical condition so we declined. We received a call 4 months later that the car was fixed and the panoramic roof was installed.

I was driving on the street and lost power, I looked down and saw a red transmission message and noticed that my vehicle was in neutral. I hurried, and stepped on the break and put my car in drive. I drove 5 minutes to my destination. A few hours later, as I was leaving my destination, my car did the same thing. I lost power, the red transmission light popped up and my car was in neutral. I noticed it once a few months ago and thought it was minor. As I reflect, I have had a few instances where I was driving and my acceleration was off. I took the streets to the mechanic today and they stated that they could not find anything wrong with the car.

The sunroof no longer works. Found pieces of plastic in the guide rails as the shoe horn pieces seems to be broken apart and had to force my sunroof to close and now it whistles as I am on the highway. I have seen hundreds of complains about this on the Mercedes Benz message boards
