I experienced severe wheel instability on 3/29/2026 at around 630pm on I74 West while traveling on the highway at high speed. I was forced to perform emergency maneuvers to avoid a catastrophic collision, resulted in a terrifying near-miss incident that required an emergency tow to safety. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the lug nuts on the left rear wheel were not properly torqued and were dangerously loose as outlined by the tow report below :-----Please see the following service report regarding PO 3166 for a 2025 Infiniti QX80. When we arrived on scene, the customer stated that the vehicle made a sudden jerk and veered unexpectedly while being driven. Before touching or loading the vehicle, we took photos and observed that the left rear wheel appeared to be close to coming off the vehicle. Upon further examination, we found that 3 of the 5 lug nuts had broken off completely. The remaining 2 lug nuts were still in place, but were barely holding.I advised the customer that the safest course of action was to jack the vehicle up and tighten the 2 remaining lug nuts as much as possible in order to reduce the risk of the wheel falling off during loading, unloading, or transport. This was done strictly to help avoid additional body or vehicle damage---: Most critically, my [XXX] child was in the vehicle during this life-threatening event placing my family in immediate catastrophic near miss dangerous event. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding the driver assistance system (ProPILOT Assist) in my 2024 Infiniti QX80. The behavior of this system creates a potentially dangerous driving condition. When ProPILOT Assist is engaged, the vehicle consistently delays braking until the last possible moment, then applies sudden and aggressive braking rather than smooth deceleration. This creates a high risk of rear-end collisions, especially in moderate to heavy traffic where gradual speed adjustments are expected. In addition, the lane-keeping function appears unstable. The vehicle tends to drift or “hug” one side of the lane instead of maintaining a centered position. At highway speeds, the system makes abrupt and overly aggressive steering corrections, even when the vehicle is already within lane boundaries and at a safe following distance. These sudden inputs feel unnatural and reduce driver confidence, requiring constant manual correction. Overall, the system behavior is unpredictable and does not align with reasonable expectations for a driver assistance feature. Instead of enhancing safety, it introduces unnecessary risk by combining delayed braking with aggressive steering inputs. This issue occurs under normal driving conditions on clearly marked roads and does not appear to be an isolated event. Given the size and weight of the QX80, these system responses could lead to serious accidents if not addressed. I request that this issue be investigated, as it presents a significant safety concern for drivers and others on the road.

- #11729242April 5, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Two components have failed: the infotainment/Apple CarPlay system, including the USB-C connectivity port, and the front collision detection/crash sensor system. The entire A/V unit was replaced on August 1, 2025, yet the infotainment defect persisted. Both systems are currently installed in my vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The front collision detection system malfunction directly compromises my ability to rely on the vehicle's built-in safety features to prevent or mitigate crashes. Additionally, the infotainment screen has frozen and reset while the vehicle was in motion. I have also been locked out of my vehicle twice while the engine was running, which created a dangerous situation. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. On July 25, 2025, a technician at Georgetown Infiniti attempted and failed to connect their own phone to the CarPlay system, confirming the defect was in the vehicle and not my personal device. The collision system malfunction has been documented across multiple service visits at both Georgetown Infiniti and Grubbs Infiniti. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected and serviced by authorized Infiniti dealerships, specifically Grubbs Infiniti and Georgetown Infiniti, both of which are manufacturer-authorized service centers. Most recently addressed 2/4/20226. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The infotainment screen displayed warning messages, froze, and reset while driving. The front collision system displayed malfunction warnings on the dashboard.

Vehicle acting as a non conforming testing asset running in Factory Debug Mode (Unit ID: 01). This also shows and caused systemic U1000 Electrical Network Jam from an obsolete/unconfigured 2G TCU. Critical Failures: Airbags disabled showing current codes B0022-13(Left), B002A-13(Right) prove the primary curtain airbags are open/offline and won't deploy. Adaptive System Failure: Around View Monitor running Alpha Software(000154) which fails to lock out forward camera at highway speeds creating driver distraction. Ignition Hijack: Code B2401(Ignition Open) allowed vheichle to "Ghost Start" and recognize keys even when sealed in Faraday pouces. Voltage trauma: Sysemic VB Low (B142A-16) prevents vehicle from entering sleep mode, causing persistent network noise. The vehicle was sold as retail but remains in "Unconfigured" Manufacturing state Code: U122A-05. This violates FMVSS 208 and 49 USC Section 30112. AV Control Unit reveals Unit ID 01 and switch software 11401. It remains unconfigured in dubug mode Code: U122A-05, which should have never been for sale FMVSS208. Despite the airbags disabled and network jam codes, Matt Bowers Infiniti Advisor attempted to release vehicle with fraud estimate of $9930.75 for unrelated hardware, and overwrite EEPROM evidence of debug mode. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Infinity QX80. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. The seller had an LLC. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 90,743. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 175,074 on January 6, 2026. The third-party warranty company that the contact hired discovered the discrepancy and informed the contact that the vehicle had a branded title.

Other innfinity QX80 owners reported online with the same model, that this is in fact a recall issue for this make and model, and year. However when i call Infinity, they say they cant find anything on my car. it is not?? however your website clearly lists it as a problem for this particular car?? what do i do next.

Sunroof shattered while driving. If I did not have sunroof cover closed, glass would have fallen on me into car and potentially cause distraction leading to crash. An insurance rep will be inspecting vehicle within the next 3-5 days. No prior warnings before glass shattered.

While driving my Infiniti QX80, 2025 model, the driver's side mirror is constantly shaking and vibrating, especially on uneven roads or at speeds over 40–50 mph. The vibration blurs the mirror, making it impossible to see clearly and posing a safety risk. I brought this to the dealer, but they could not resolve the issue. They replaced the mirror, yet it did not help and actually made the vibration worse. Now they claim this is "normal" and that nothing can be done. However, the vibration is constant and unacceptable for safe driving. I request further investigation and resolution.

I have been saying that my vehicle is a safety hazard since April 2022. I have had it to the dealer 4x since then in addition to opening up several cases with Inifiniti Customer Service, but nobody has been able to protect my family and I and remedy the situation. At times the vehicle will not accelerate even when I push the gas all the way down. Then it will kick in and surge forward. I also have told them that at times it feels as if someone has rear ended me. There is a recall out there for cars manufactured through April 2020, but mine was manufactured in September 2020. Infiniti's recall is #R21A3 and the NHTSA ID is 21V373. I have experienced the same exact symptoms as those covered under this recall. Now Inifiniti is telling me that my transmission needs to be replaced as a result of metal shavings in the oil. Again, this could all have been caused by this fuel pump issue which was on their radar in 2021 and 2022 when I brought my car in the first time. Infiniti has failed to help me in every step of the way beginning with their Service Tech not fixing the issue back in 2022 through 2024 when I have consistently expressed my concerns while the car was still under warranty.

This is a 2021 Vehicle, and beginning in April of 2022, I have been telling my dealer that there is something wrong, but they haven't been able to fix it. When I am driving, there are times when the car will fail to accelerate. Also at times it feels like I have been rear ended and the car lurches. I have said this is a safety issue and neither the dealer nor Inifiniti Customer Consumer Affairs have taken this seriously and remedied the situation. They all say there is nothing they can do. I have taken it to the dealer 6 times and opened up a case with Infiniti back in 2024 with no resolution.

- #11708449January 2, 2026SUSPENSION, STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES
My daughter was driving this car home from college on I80 east from Iowa to joliet and almost was involved in a accident. The stearing started to lean to the left and when she had to slow down and brake the stearing went hard to her left until she released the brake. she pulled over and called me i came out and drove it home slowly. i took it to my mechanic which i thought it was an alignment issue or a caliper on rear brakes. However it was brought to my attention by the mechanic that the left side of the rear sub frame was rootted out by rust and broke almost causing a major accident. I have been to the Infinity of Naperville three times this year and muliple times over the course of 2yrs for maintence and the rear sub frame passed the inspection everytime! This should be a saftey concern for all of these Infinity QX80 vehicles in illinois that are exposed to salt with this kind of metal for a frame. This product that Infinity manufactured completly broke while driving after being inspected and passed just 3 months ago. I am also conserned about my main frame also. The 1st pic I have icluded is my rotted out sub frame and the 2nd 3rd pic is the rotting main frame!

While driving at normal speed, I suddenly heard a very loud explosion-like “boom” coming from the roof of the vehicle. I immediately pulled over and discovered that the panoramic roof glass had shattered, leaving a large opening/hole in the glass. There was no impact from any object, no debris strike, and no visible impact point or damage consistent with road debris. Nothing hit the vehicle before or during the incident. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning, creating a serious safety concern. Shattered glass could have entered the passenger compartment and startled the driver, potentially causing loss of control. Based on the nature of the failure (loud explosive sound, sudden collapse, no impact evidence), this appears to be a spontaneous glass failure / manufacturing defect of the panoramic roof. This incident raises concerns about the safety and structural integrity of panoramic roof glass on this vehicle model.

Made a right hand turn and vehicle shut off in traffic barley got into turn lane and vehicle died in the middle of the road, just got lucky a state trooper was behind us to hold traffic off.. would not restart no power, dead battery, put a jumper on the vehicle and it started enough to get out of immediate danger. After replacing a burned up alternator and battery twice it was found the battery current sensor was bad.

I live in a state where it is required to have both front and back plates. When I got my 2016 QX80 it did not have official front plate mounting so I bought a kit and installed the front license plate. Since then I have not had a working sensor. The front collision sensor states there’s an obstruction. I can no longer use cruise control or the front collision safety sensor because the front sensor was brilliantly placed where the plate needs to be installed. Poor design.

The battery in my vehicle continuously dies, leaving me stranded on multiple occasions. This has been occurring since 2024 consistently. In January I had it towed to the dealership since every time I jump the battery, it charges it which in turn causes it to pass their battery test. Since I had it towed while the battery was dead they told me that the battery test failed so I purchased a new battery directly from Infiniti expecting reliability and quality. I started having issues again with my SUV not starting due to a dead battery in July or August 2025. The issue persists, and I have since learned that the 2019 QX80 model is known to have charging system problems that cause premature battery failure. I have to jump my vehicle about 3-5 times a week. Despite bringing this issue to Infiniti’s attention, I have received no meaningful assistance or resolution. This is not only inconvenient but also a serious safety concern. I rely on my vehicle daily, and repeatedly being stranded due to a known defect is completely unreasonable.

Camera monitoring system or rear visibility system. The rearview/backup camera has intermittently malfunctioned in my QX80 numerous times since I purchased the car in February 2024, including (1) displaying a frozen image from the backup camera when putting the car in reverse which stayed frozen (for example, did show a car driving directly behind me which I almost hit) and displayed the frozen image to the driver the entire time driving the car, including at highway speeds, and which could not be manually removed from view (including by pressing the camera button); and (2) the backup camera not turning on at all when the QX80 is put in reverse, not could the backup camera be turned on manually by pushing the camera button. I attached some photos of the frozen rearview/backup camera which remained displayed to the driver the entire time driving the car, including while traveling on the interstate at highway speeds (65 mph) when the photos were taken attached below. The date below is the date of the photo, however backup camera malfunctions has occurred numerous times and dates. I also have numerous videos of the malfunctions described herein that I can also share.

Ongoing failure to start, multiple battery replacements in less than 2 years. Purchased a warranty and of course the vehicle will not replicate its failure to start when it is at the dealership for the warranty claims adjustor to review. Car has had to be towed to the dealership with no resolution even after being there multiple times. Dashlights have gone dim - issues with multiple lights coming on. Dash on order - been waiting months now with no update on when the new dash will arrive. Multiple TSB's have been issued regarding the issues mentioned - TSB ITB19-034b TSB MC-10239504 with no resolution. Infiniti is aware of these issues and has only offered to bypass "jump out" or bypass of the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module), noting that this action would void my warranty related to that specific issue. This is unacceptable. Infiniti serviced my vehicle in August and September no issues with the battery - but then it failed in October. A new battery had to be purchased in Oct after a visit by AAA.

The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti QX80. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 MPH, the service engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a non-Infiniti dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Most recently, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was taken back to the non-Infinity dealer, where it was diagnosed that the bucket light cylinder near the camshaft had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V683000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure recurred, and the contact parked the vehicle. The vehicle was no longer driven due to a safety concern. The failure mileage was unknown.
