Nov 13,2020 Manufacturer Recall Number197 NHTSA Recall Number20V705000 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete Summary HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2007-2012 VERACRUZ VEHICLES THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED UNDER RECALL NUMBER 14V-415. AN INOPERATIVE CHARGINIG SYSTEM CAN RESULT IN AN ENGINE STALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. this recall has never been addressed and it is my feeling that HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA is just letting it go without corrective actions until all of the models are off the road and they don't have to address this at all, also the problem is well understated as the oil not only gets on the alternator but the belt system that poses an even mere berater risk. if the NHTSA will monitor each safety recall to make sure owners receive safe, free, and effective remedies from manufacturers according to the Safety Act and Federal regulations, than why are they not addressing this? Although my car had 293000 miles on it it could have made another 200000 miles if HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA would have taken steps to correct this? after sending an email (will upload) they seemed to question me on the vehicle but after learning a junked the car they appear to take the stand that that owe me nothing not even the time of day, and I would like to file a formal complaint against HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA for lack effort to resolve this issue as this year alone I have gotten 5 recall notices stating no repair available?

My vehicle has a oil leakage in the LH and RH valve cover gasket that the dealer is stating to replace. Currently there is a recall for the Veracruz: OIL MAY LEAK FROM THE FRONT CYLINDER BANK COVER GASKET, POTENTIALLY DRIPPING ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND CAUSING THE CHARGING SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE REMEDY WILL INCLUDE NEW DEALER INSTRUCTIONS ON PERFORMING THE REPAIR. BASED ON AN INSPECTION, VEHICLES IDENTIFIED WITH NO OIL LEAKAGE SPECIFIED IN THE 'T' JOINT AREA WILL HAVE AN OIL PROTECTOR INSTALLED WITH RTV SEALANT APPLICATION. FOR THOSE VEHICLES IDENTIFIED WITH OIL LEAKAGE, THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND ALTERNATOR WILL ALSO BE REPLACED FOR THOSE VEHICLES IDENTIFIED WITH AN OIL LEAKAGE IN ADDITION TO THE INSTALLATION OF OIL PROTECTOR WITH RTV SEALANT APPLICATION. AN OIL PROTECTOR WILL BE INSTALLED ON ALL. However the dealer is stating that the recall only covers the LH cover gasket. The recall remedy does not state. Therefore the issue is not fully resolved.

It has been over 8 months after I received 1st recall notice last 11/2020. Hyundai Motors America keep sending interim notices only, so I brought my SUV to Hyundai dealership at Dublin last 4/2020. The one of mechanic informed me that he couldn't provide recall services since there are no remedy yet. I think it should be enough time to get remedy but they just don't care about customer's safety at all. Thank you

Hyundai has had this recall #197 open since 2014 and still does not have a solution? I just got another letter on 7-22-21 saying the same thing that they have been saying for seven years with zero resolution yet in place. I finally took the time to read the other complaints about electrical problems and the car seizing up nd being dead and this is exactly what is happening to my 2010 Hyundai Veracruz as I write this. How can this ongoing problem not be addressed and fixed by Hyundai for over 7 years now! What is the NHTSA doing about this? I now am looking at a seriously expensive repair for this problem because Hyundai simply is ignoring all of the complaints about this dangerous situation. The local dealerships I call don't want to touch it until the remedy is available or want us to pay for it and try and recover the cost later. This is unacceptable and I want to know what this government agency NHTSA is doing about it. Hyundai customer service is of no real help. They just advise to get it fixed and hope for a remedy later, but this type of problem is truly dangerous and I do not want my family put in jeopardy of an accident due to the car going dead as it has done twice so far at my home. Please make Hyundai solve this problem now and actively reach out to the owners of these vehicles with a solution that will cost nothing to the owners. I am on social security and cannot afford to put out approximately $1,000 and hope to get it back someday from Hyundai. I feel Hyundai is allowing this problem to go on due to not wanting to spend the money to fix this problem while they hope that it just goes away. Please do something NOW!!!
