The auto start system (the gas saving feature that shuts the engine off and on when the car idles) causes the car to shut completely off. This has happened on the freeway at a traffic light and while turning into traffic. When the auto start feature is off I don’t have this problem. It’s a major safety issue and I’ve seen numerous complaints about this on Facebook

I purchased a used 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with 77,500 miles from Auto Boutique in Columbus, Ohio, on [XXX]. On November 8, 2024, I had the oil changed and a new oil filter installed. However, on [XXX], I experienced catastrophic engine failure with only 85,000 miles on the vehicle, just months after my purchase. I was not informed by Auto Boutique that a Hyundai Engine II Class Action lawsuit had been filed against Hyundai regarding certain models, including the one I purchased. This lawsuit pertains to engine defects that could cause stalling, seizure, failure, and even fire. I have also been denied warranty repairs by Hyundai. Auto Boutique informed me that I purchased the vehicle "as is," but I was not made aware of two recalls on my vehicle related to excessive oil consumption, which can lead to a defective engine that uses too much oil, stalls, and ultimately fails. I am seeking assistance in understanding my rights and would appreciate any help in resolving this issue with either Auto Boutique or Hyundai. Thank you. The contact owned a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while the contact's daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed a burning odor and the vehicle stalled. The contact idled the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and exited the vehicle. The vehicle burst into flames after the occupants exited the vehicle. The contact's daughter and daughter's friend were occupants of the vehicle at the time of the failure. No injuries were sustained. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned to total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 280,000.

I am [XXX] old and live in Denver, Colorado. In August of 2021, I bought a Hyundai as a graduation gift for myself. This has easily been the worst mistake I have ever made, a decision that haunts me every second of every day. With the car chip shortage and the pandemic, car prices were at an all-time high, so it took longer than expected to find my dream car. I eventually focused on finding a car online rather than in person. My car was delivered from Vroom with the check engine light on. I had a three month warranty with Hyundai. I took the car to Schomp Hyundai, located at 100 Havana St for a diagnostic test. They said nothing was showing up, so they reset it. A month later, the check engine light came back on, so I returned, and the same thing happened. This occurred a third time before my warranty ended. There have been a total of 3 recalls on my car. In the summer of 2023, I received a letter about the "Service brakes, hydraulic: antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip: control unit/module" recall. I made an appointment and was able to get it serviced almost three months later receiving a warning that "an engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury" should have been taken more seriously. Until this was fixed, I did not drive my car and instead spent hundreds on Ubers, Lyfts, and public transportation, all while paying my monthly nearly $400 car note and insurance payments. The check engine light was still on, and I thought it was related to the fuse (recall). After the fuse was replaced, I learned that the check engine light was due to a leak, not the recall. Now I am being told that it is an engine issue and Hyundai Consumer Affairs (Tasha) made it seem like this would be part of the Goodwill program, they are not sure if they can fix it because I don't have warranty on the engine after they told me to take the car in and promised to fix it for me to find out I do have a warranty on the engine. & car break ins INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF IN

When driving, my vehicle had a loss of power. The check engine light came on. My mechanic informed me that I needed a new engine. I had it towed to a Hyundai dealership. They also confirmed the engine needs to be replaced. According to the vin number my vehicle's engine is not one recalled, and yet the engine has failed. It is currently back at my original mechanic. I've been told a bolt came loose and cracked the valve cover. There was no oil it it when I got it to the mechanic and there were metal shavings in the oil filter. The last oil change was Nov 2023

I was driving my 2006 Subaru forester vin #[XXX] around 5 PM. I was waiting in an offramp lane to make a left turn, behind numerous cars. Suddenly, a car pulled up next to me and told me to pull over because my car was on fire. I pulled over to the shoulder and as I did so the car lost power. I looked back once I got out of the car and sure enough if it was on fire. I have no idea how this happened. I want it investigated. The car is currently at a tow yard and available for inspection. I do have pictures and video of the car fire as well as video from when the fire department put it out. I also have witnesses names and numbers. About 23 days prior, I had noticed a lack of power when climbing hills. I took it into firestone and they told me that there was a third cylinder issue, but that it wasn’t dangerous. He assured me it was not. Clearly that was not the case. This car, your vehicle, could’ve killed me. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact me at [XXX] . Thanks. I purchased a brand new 2024 santa fe xrt back in March of 2024. And around December my front end started shaking and I had bad vibrations in my front in when I was finally able to get it into the hyundai dealership in January they told me it was my front 2 rotors where warped my vehicle only has 13k miles and shouldn't have rotor issuses. Even though it was covered under warranty all the dealership did was resurface the rotors and said the vibration is gone. They also said if it does it again just to bring it back but a new vehicle shouldn't have warped rotor issues with less than 15k miles.

My santa fe stalled on me while I was driving had it brought to a garage. I was told that there was metal shavings in my oil and that the crank shaft was bad and I needed to get a new engine. I was told that there was a recall for this and I called the manufacturer and was told that it was not covered under the recall.

The driver assist warning/dinging coffee cup is a distraction while driving. It can ding up to every 4 minutes. This is a feature that should be able to be turned off.

When you stop the car , you cannot lock- unlock the car with keyfob. Nothing happens when you press these buttons on keyfob. And Media screen inside the car is still ON. But the car is OFF for sure. After few minutes only, keyfob works fine and you can lock-unlock, remote start etc. So for 5 minutes, you cannot do anything like locking the car, which is a safety hazard.

Check engine light began flashing suddenly as I was driving. My vehicle went into limp mode on the interstate in 70 mph traffic, it was dark and pouring down rain. The check engine light was no longer flashing when I went the next day to take to the dealership to be checked. They stated nothing can be done unless it is flashing when I bring it in. This is the 3rd time it has happened in this vehicle, and I have taken in on other occasions with no resolution. This puts my family and I at risk. This appears to have same issues as my previous vehicle a 2014 sonata limited 2.0t.

The engine of my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe failed at 126,000 miles. Upon a prior oil change maintenance, metal shavings were found in the filter and discarded oil. Couple days after the oil change, the car stalled on the road. The car was thawed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealership identified that there were loose metallic parts in the engine. They sent the result of there diagnostic to Hyundai Motors USA. Prior to this issues, engine light will come on and off.

- #11638730January 27, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The forward attention warning (FAW) on the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe calligraphy can not be deactivated. Correction, it can be turned off for normal driving. For instance, driving around the city or not using smart cruise control. As soon as you turn on the smart cruise control it's reactivated and can't be turned off. The FAW does not work when using prescription sunglasses / non prescription sunglasses or if the sun is hitting the inside of the cabin a certain way. The FAW constantly flashes warnings and beeps at you even though you are looking forward and keeping your eyes on the road. If you look far down the road you shift your eyes up some, and the system beeps and flashes warnings to keep your eyes on the road. On a recent 230 miles trip I did not wear my prescription sunglasses / non prescription sunglasses and the FAW system went off at least 50 plus times and I had my eyes on the road at all times. Very distracting, I then had to take my eyes off the road to see why it was beeping and telling me to keep my eyes on the road. The FAW system actually makes for a stressful and distracting drive. At this time the FAW is useless. I took the vehicle to the dealer and the FAW is not a system that can be turned off. Hyundai needs to allow the dealers to be able and deactivate the system.

My vehicle has 84,000 miles and has regular maintenance done. On 1/20/24 my wife was driving the car when suddenly it started to make a terrible knocking sound, the oil light flashed for just a second and the check engine light came on. She was near an auto store and they checked the code, which said "replace engine block." I came with a trailer to tow it home and by then the check engine light is flashing when the car is turned on. I have done some research and calling to mechanics to find out that these vehicles have a major "oil consumption problem" that causes them to do this at relatively low miles and it has affected thousands of people. I also learned that as a second owner I am not within any warranty from Hyundai since I bought it 4 years ago, and I still owe $10k on the car. The estimated cost for a new engine is $10-12,000 and I can't afford to double what I owe on a car, especially when I have little faith in a new version of the same problematic engine. We are a family of 5 with small kids and jobs and are down to one vehicle. I don't understand why a recall hasn't been issued or why Hyundai isn't being held accountable for this. Thank you.
