The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, there was an abnormal gunshot sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that shards of glass fell onto the dashboard from the sunroof. The contact pulled over and upon inspection of the vehicle discovered a hole in the middle of the sunroof. The contact used tape to secure the sunroof on both sides and continued normal driving without further issues. The vehicle was eventually taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty and the contact was given an estimate for the replacement of the sunroof glass. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I bought a 2023 Honda HR-V on Monday, 9/2/2024. and then on Wednesday, 9/4/2024, while driving to work my read windshield shatters out of nowhere. The glass remained in tact while I continued to drive and then completely shatter when I opened my car door. It sounded like an explosion and it startled me. I called the dealer that sold me the car and he proceeded to tell me that this is a known issue specific to 2023 model of HR-V and manufacture error caused when the defroster it causes the glass to shatter. He added the issue can be fixed by simply replacing the window. I did not know this was an issue and it was not disclosed during the car purchase. I am so disappointed in Honda and even more disappointed to learn there is not an active recall to address this issue. Now there is glass all over my trunk space and I having to figure out how to get this fixed with the dealer.

The windshield wipers regained proper function after the vehicle was parked for a while. The contact stated that while attempting to replicate the failure while the vehicle was parked, and while driving approximately 30 - 40 MPH while it was not raining, the contact was unable to recreate the failure. The contact stated that the attempt to replicate the failure made it evident the failure only occurred while it was raining. The vehicle had been taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure because the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.

HISTORY: Honda service bulletin 21-025 // NHTSA recall 21V-215 // Safety Recall received May 2021. Fuel pump was replaced June 2021 at Beaverton Honda. EVENT: [XXX]; HR-V, without warning stopped while traveling [XXX] (mp 55), southbound in passing lane. Resulted in full stop in fast lane. Required transport "tow" to Medford, OR. Honda dealer. Cost us lodging and meals for a week while waiting warranty repair. FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY and WAS REPLACED again! Had to rent a car to return home. Now arranging Auto Transport to return Honda HR-V home in Beaverton, OR. VERY, VERY dangerous for disabled American Vietnam veteran and his wife! Took many hours for screaming, cussing, crying, and PTSD to abate. And then there was the wifey's reaction.......... I turned on my rear defrost and headed to work. About 15 minutes into my drive, my rear windshield exploded. I thought someone shot it out or threw a rock at it. It scared me a lot causing me to startle while driving. At a stop light I looked a the rear windshield and asked the person behind me if anything hit my car. She didn't see anything hit my car. What I saw was a baseball size hole. As I drove, more of the glass fell out with only a small amount left around the edges by the time I got to work.

Driving today a softball size hole appeared in the back glass (at trunk). There was no sign of a rock or anything else that went through the glass. When the trunk was opened to see if there was anything that had gone through it the entire glass shattered.

STEERING
I am reporting a major steering issue with my relatively new 2024 Honda HR-V, of which I’ve been driving since September of 2023. I recently started noticing jolting in my steering wheel when making even a slight turn, such as to adjust my positioning in a highway lane. It can best be described as “sticky steering,” and based on recent research I found reports of other Honda consumers complaining about this exact issue. According to this article [XXX] ) it appears to have something to do with a defective steering gear part. This is extremely dangerous to my safety and makes me extremely upset that this is occurring in a practically brand new vehicle. Please help and have Honda do their part in rectifying the problem. Instrument cluster fuel gauge become garbled or blank (lower right side). Happens more often when the outside temperature drops. This has been happening for years now but corrects itself when the engine has warmed. There are multiple complaints on the Honda forums and complaints issued with NHTSA also for this issue.

POWER TRAIN
I purchases my 2016 Honda HRV in 2019, used from . On [XXX] driving home my cars lights started lighting up like a Xmas tress and it sounded like something was wrong with my transmission. After bringing it to a local mechanic in Hopkins, they stated it was a CVT transmission issue and it would need to go to a Honda dealership, so we brought it to Luther Hopkins Honda. During this time my husband and I did some research on the transmission for the 2016-2020 Honda HRV's, and apparently starting in June of 2021, a bulletin and recall was sent out specifically pertaining to this issue of early deterioration of the CVT drive belt, they extended the warranty to 7 years/150k, whichever comes first. There was a software update that should have been done, and also if the belt did fail they would fix the issue. I NEVER received any of these bulletins or recall notices in the mail. My car IS registered. When I previously owned a Ford I got recall notices all the time. Luther Hopkins Honda (Andres Decaroli) on 8/13 said YES the transmission problem with my car is due to the CVT recall/issue, but because my car was 1 year out of the extended warranty Honda may not fix the transmission. Which out of pocket would cost me $8600! The next day Wednesday [XXX], a service director named Caroline texted me stating they sent the request to Honda, and hope to hear something Wed night or Thurs, and they will "fight the good fight for you". I never did hear anything on Wed or Thurs, and on Friday I texted her and tried to call her to get any info, and each time it went to her VM. I also tried to get in contact with Andres as well with no luck, Friday night I left a message prior to them closing with a manager named Michelle. NO one called me back. On Saturday 8/17 I called AGAIN demanded someone call me back to give me some form of update. Finally a manager named Justin called me, and stated that Caroline was out on Friday (no one told us this). I want Honda to honor the recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF I

Bought 5/28/24 a little over 2k miles on it. Noticed paint changing color on 8/3 at night when raining. Next morning the speckles of paint that the rain drops hit that were white disappeared. That night I was also frayed because there had been this foggy what looked like water stains on my windshield that the wipers weren’t cleaning off everytime it rained. Thought it was my windshield wipers or something I was doing with the condensation in the air when it rains. 8/8 downpour all day and my Car panel is completely white and in The morning it was gone. Contacted Mohawk Honda and said come there or go to nearest certified dealer ( I live 4 1/2 hours away from my home town where I bought it) went to nearest dealership they reviewed it and said It’s environmental or someone painted it but Honda has no record of it being repainted. They said it wasn’t covered under warranty and to call my insurance. I went there with pictures of other cars with the same year and model That posted pictures of their car paint doing the same thing and they said those cars could have been in a parking lot and someone threw battery acid on them. My issue is a safety issue because I have it on both windshield and panel Of car and on the windshield it is invisible until it rains and becomes Dangerous on highway when rain it hitting the windshield and wipers Are not able to take off the hard water stain like film on it. Corporate said the dealerships are privately owned and they Don’t always work together. Mohawk Honda(scotia ny) wanted piazza honda (Philadelphia) to repaint my body and they Would buff my windshield. Corporate was nice but nice doesn’t save lives. They said no one likes a finger pointed at them and gave Me specific instructions when I go to Mohawk Honda to find out why regional managers decided it was vandalised. As a new car owner with a warranty I shouldn’t have to go through this and I have to drive with defect windshield for two weeks and my Paint is still defect
