The steering becomes sticky after driving for about 15 minutes or so and seems to occur more on warmer days (above 70F). this occurs both at highway speeds and also at lower speeds. For example when making a slight turn to the left or right the wheel will stick at that position and you will need to force the wheel to go back to center. This can cause you to over steer and end up out of your lane. Additionally at highway speeds making the steering whell will get stuck when making slight adjustments to keep the car in its lane. forcing the wheel each time causes you to ping pong within your lane and sometimes veer out of your lane. This is very dangerous and also makes it look like you are distracted or drunk driving. Issue was confirmed by a honda dealer and indicated that the entire rack needed to be replaced. No warning lights or codes stored for the issue.

When driving, the steering wheels gets stuck and won't maneuver without jerking it back causing the driver to get steered in an unknown lane or direction. I took it to the dealership and they put a replacement steering column in acknowledging the issue; however, they one they put on has not been corrected from the issue it causes, so it's only a temporary fix if they haven't fixed what causes the issue in the first place.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the persistent issue of "sticky steering" in my Honda Civic, which is attributable to a malfunction in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Since the purchase of my Civc, I have experienced recurring difficulties with the steering, characterized by stiffness and unresponsiveness. This issue poses a significant safety concern as it affects the vehicle's handling and maneuverability, especially during tight turns or emergency situations. Upon investigation, it has been determined that the problem lies within the EPS system, likely due to faulty sensors, wiring issues, or malfunctioning components such as the EPS motor or control module.

When I drive the car at highway speed or any speed above 30mph, the steering of the car gets sticky, jerky feeling. When trying to make minor adjustments to keep the car straight within its lane, it would feel like the steering wheel will stick and the car doesn't respond to make those adjustments. Therefore, I have to give it a harder force but causing it to jerk more in the direction I’m trying to steer, which causes slight over steering and having to correct back the other direction. This sticky steering happens all the time.

The body control module is failing, read multiple posts online and Honda is not fixing it. My alarm goes off and I cannot turn it off, have to use my key. The vehicle powers up on its own into accessory mode when parked, vehicle off and no key fob in the car. This causes the alarm to activate, drains the battery and causes temporary safety features- collision warning, lane assist, cruise control etc to not work. As well as drains the battery. Honda has recalled this part on other models but not the 10th generation Civic.

The steering wheel sticks especially at highway speeds. It gets sticky and when I try and turn the wheels slightly, like on a freeway curve, it jolts loose and causes car to swerve. Recently this started happening at lower speeds as well. The steering wheel cracks when turned and sticks.

I have a 2022 Honda Civic Sport with approximately 32,000 miles. Over the last few weeks, the steering has become “sticky”. Issue usually appears almost immediately driving on a straight road. The steering wheel becomes sluggish and additional effort is required on the driver to maintain lane position. This requires the driver to use additional force to maintain without slipping. No warning lights appear for this issue. Car functions otherwise as normal. Issue has been reported to Honda dealership that I purchased from. At high rate of speeds 50+ it takes additional force to maintain lane and at times does affect the safety of the vehicle. I am concerned this issue could become worse overtime. I am hoping issue will be resolved via Extended Warranty.

- #11587717May 8, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The front sensor is too sensitive. If there is another car using a turn lane, the Civic will try to brake and will not pass the car. If another car is ahead on a curve, the automatic braking kicks in. This tends to only happen when using cruise control. It is dangerous on the freeway. The sudden braking could cause me to be rearended. I've been lucky, so far, and have only received dirty looks from the drivers that were behind me as they passed. Since it doesn't happen every single time, there seems no way to reproduce it. No one has inspected it for defects. No warning lights, beeps or messages appear before the braking starts. This has been happening since I first bought the car in 2022, but seems to be more frequent now. Probably the reason it was returned... in my opinion.

Steering wheels seems to be getting stuck. Caused a collision while driving. Noticed that the issue is more prominent at higher speeds. Honda of America has declined repairing the issue.

Driving [XXX] just south of [XXX] ~10 am on a Monday. No large trucks near by, and pretty minimal traffic otherwise. Heard loud thud and shattering. Slightly retracted sunshade and saw shattered glass where my sunroof used to be. Closed sunshade and exited freeway to survey the damage. No injuries, fortunately. My civic (2016) is having the same 'sticking steering wheel' issue as the later year cars that are currently being recalled. This is well documented in the Honda civic forums and YouTube videos. This can lead to a very serious accident as the car can be uncontrollable. The steering wheel 'sticks' then to get it unstuck you have to apply more pressure to 'unstick' the steering wheel which results in the car swerving in the lane, it is very dangerous...

- #11587389May 7, 2024STEERING, EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side headlight failed to illuminate intermittently and was dimmed. The contact stated that the passenger's side headlight bulb had previously been replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the steering wheel was loose while making a left turn and seized while making a right turn. No warning light was illuminated. The contact jerked the steering wheel to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the passenger's side headlight connector switch needed to be replaced. The dealer was unable to duplicate the steering failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V663000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the driver's side headlight later failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

All light appeared on the dashboard and we took the vehicle in for inspection. We learned that the VSA Modulator had failed and was a safety risk as it controlled the brakes. This needs to be recalled as the soldering was not done correctly when originally manufactured and this particular part has failed on a high percentage of the hondas that come equipped with the modulator. Please look into recalling this as many drivers have experienced their brakes locking up while driving due to this modulator failing.
