Our transmission when out while driving at high speed down the road, which could have caused a serious accident. There was no warning light to alert the driver before this incident occurred. We had to pull over and have our car towed - and it was dangerous to be along side of the road. We had to pay over $4000.00 to have our transmission replaced and the mechanic, who is an independent dealer, said "in his opinion, the transmission problem was caused by the defective GM automatic 8-speed transmission". We have a detailed bill of all work completed by our independent transmission dealer - dated Feb 2025.

Vehicle suddenly died and wont restart. The fuel control module was previously replaced. There was a recall for certain VINs but mine wasn't included even though I experienced the failure of the recalled part! This is extremely dangerous for the vehicle to suddenly die under way. In 2022 the fuel control module was replaced after the dangerous failure. The NHTSA recall that was for this part but excluded my vehicle is N212332040. You need to immediately include other VINs for this recall! Today I experienced the same symptoms. The car died while in gear and running and would not restart. The dealer is diagnosing the issue to determine if it is the same fuel control module. I highly suspect it is. If it isn't, there is another extremely dangerous defect with this vehicle.

Wife is RN at a trauma hospital going to work in the morning on a busy highway. While in front of Hospital truck started to indicate to hit starter button. Truck was already running! Wife stopped at red light. Truck stopped running would not start. Stuck in middle of morning rush hour traffic had to have truck towed to dealership. At the dealership they indicated they found metal parts in the oil pan. They indicated a further look into the engine indicated it was beyond repair and had to be replaced. Truck only had 42k miles on it. They stated they had another one same situation in the shop as well and that it would take several weeks to repair. I have learned that this is a major problem with this make and model and engine. Engine quit with no warning in middle of major highway. Thank god not in an intersection or freeway.

My wife, [XXX] , was running some errands last night before taking our oldest daughter to dance practice and the check engine light appeared and the Suburban lost all power immediately. The engine wouldn’t restart and thank God she wasn’t on the highway. She called AAA roadside assistance who came out and checked the battery which was fine but ultimately had to get the vehicle towed to Bowman Chevrolet in Clarkston, MI. Vehicle is a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban and this is a serious situation that could have been catastrophic if this occurred on the highway that my wife was just on. I replaced the shocks in Oct 2022 and paid for an alignment and now just over 2 years later the dealer said they needed replacing again. This front end has had constant problems, but now I see there was a recall on the 2016 Suburbans, but it is not listed under my VIN. I believe if they have had problems, possibly at another manufacturing, it should be considered that this is the problem. I have now paid for the repair of the upper control arm and both front shocks and a wheel alignment again. I paid more than double to have it repaired at the dealer because I believe my vehicle's VIN should be listed under NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 16V256000; REPORT DATE: APR 28, 2016.

I was driving the vehicle at approximately 45 mph when the vehicle suddenly had no engine power. There were no warning signals or symptoms of an issue that would indicate there was a problem, but the dashboard told me the vehicle needed a restart. I was able to pull the vehicle out of traffic at a cross street and coast to a stop in a parking lot. Had I not been where I was at the moment when the engine failed, or had there been oncoming traffic that would have required me to stop coasting, I would not have been able to pull safely out of traffic. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was purchased. They told me the next day that is was an internal engine failure.

My car has 118,000 miles. The engine cam shaft just came apart, mechanic ordered new engine end of December and I’m told I’m still on a waiting list. I had to replace both sets of lifters when I had very few miles on car..of course the engine is now out of warranty. Thanks

6.2 liter engine that seized without prior warning or indication. Has been blown up since 12/24/24. Vehicle is currently sitting at the Chevy dealer. Dealer has stated the engine failure was solely seized connecting rod bearings. GM has denied the claim stating the vehicles has 62,000 miles on it, putting it 2,000 miles out of warranty. Numerous calls and emails to GM directly. Dealer claims no one has reached out to them from GM since warranty declined. GM is stating the dealer hasn’t responded to them and that there isn’t anything they can do at this time. GM is also refusing to purchase the vehicle back.

While driving, a message appeared on the dash that stated 'reduced acceleration'. My car was not able to accelerate over 40mph. The engine was much louder than normal and sounded like a loud fan was running. The check engine light came on as well.

As I was driving, in July of 2024. I noticed that that I had a traction control system warning on my dashboard. I didn’t think of it to been serious. Then all sudden the engine kind stalled. So the car wasn’t going passed 40 miles per hour. So I managed to take it to dealership. Once there the technician mentioned to me that I wasn’t alone with this type of engine failure. He added and showed me another suburban with the issue. He said that the engine needs to be completely replaced. Because there is metal in the the oil pan. He added the cost of the repair would be $8000 to $12000. So that’s when I decided to take the car to the automation Chevy dealership. They confirmed the issue and charged me $8200 to fix it. I really expected GM to cover the cost. But I was that they would not. Upon further research I found out that that many people had the same engine issue. I am hoping that the government should take action to investigate these engines failures. I think GM failed his customers especially in the COVID era of 21 and 22. Thx

We were driving our Suburban and out of no where the check engine light starts flashing. Mind you we had no problems leading up to this very moment. We took it to a mechanic the very next day and were told we needed a new engine.

While driving my vehicle, it suddenly shook, a vibration started, and then the car began misfiring. I own two Chevrolet Suburbans, and since the same issue had happened before with the other one, I was more experienced this time. However, this time, there were also unusual noises coming from the vehicle. It wouldn’t accelerate, kept shaking, and multiple warning lights appeared on the dashboard, such as Engine, Traction, and ESC. The issue occurred as I tried to move forward after waiting at a red light. Since I had experienced this problem before, I immediately pulled over to a safe spot, ensuring our safety. I took the car to a different nearby mechanic. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem with these vehicles and that they encounter it quite often. I explained the previous incident I had experienced. The mechanic confirmed that the engine needed to be replaced. I purchased a new engine from Chevrolet and had it installed by the mechanic. I have already submitted a complaint to you regarding my other vehicle, which is the same model and year. I own two 2022 Suburbans, and both had their engines replaced within the past two months. The removed engines were sent to Chevrolet, but I have not received any information regarding the condition or cause of failure.

While driving my vehicle, it suddenly shook, a vibration started, and then the car began misfiring. It wouldn’t accelerate, kept shaking, and several warning lights appeared on the dashboard, such as Engine, Traction, and ESC. At that time, I was with my two sons, aged [XXX] and [XXX] . We were turning onto an empty and quiet street, so our safety was not at risk. However, if this had happened in heavy traffic, it could have posed a significant danger, as the vehicle’s power dropped dramatically, and it all happened very suddenly. I took the car to a mechanic. Initially, the fuel injector was replaced, but the problem persisted, and the mechanic recommended an engine replacement. After that, I went to an authorized service center, and they also recommended an engine replacement. I purchased a new engine from Chevrolet and had the mechanic install it. The mechanic told me that this is a common issue and mentioned that two other Suburban engines were replaced this year. My next complaint will also be related to my second vehicle, which is the same model Suburban, experiencing similar issues. I own two 2022 Suburbans, and both have had their engines replaced in the past two months. The removed engines were sent to Chevrolet, but I have not received any information regarding their condition or the cause of the failure.
