I am submitting this complaint regarding a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss 4WD with the [6.2L V8 (L87)], VIN [XXX], 101,000 miles. The truck was assembled in Mexico in XXX, about six weeks before XXX, just outside the build range of GM recall 25V-274 (N252494000, Engine Failure). On 10/2/2026, [XXX], [XXX] a certified GM dealership, diagnosed crankshaft and lifter failure, matching the recall condition. Codes: P0300, P050D, P0016. The truck was shaking violently, the ESC and emergency braking system failed, reducing engine power. GM's Part 573 filing attributes the defect to out-of-specification crankshafts and identifies a Mexico-based crankshaft supplier. I ask GM to confirm my engine's build date and crankshaft source. A six-week gap in build date should not exclude a truck with the same failure. Engine failure can cause sudden loss of power while driving, a safety risk. The dealer quoted repairs of up to $10,292.00. I request: That GM cover the repair in full as a goodwill adjustment. That GM and NHTSA review expanding the recall population to trucks built near my date. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving my truck on a clear sunny day and the alarms started to go off and it said I had no oil pressure, so I pulled off the road quickly and turned it off. I called a wrecker service and they took it to the dealership where I live and they told me the oil cooler line had ruptured and it locked up my motor. I had to replace it with a new motor. Upon further investigation I found there was service bulletin out for 2019 Silverados for the oil cooler line rupturing. I was never notified of the problem.

TRANSMISSION. CURRENTLY AT BILL ROBERTS CHEVROLET LOCATED IN BOLIVAR, MO. 65613. HAULING A FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER, WHEN THE TRUCK NEARLY CAME TO A STOP ON IT'S OWN WHILE GOING DOWN A HIGHWAY. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHOM SUGGESTED WE TAKE THE TRUCK TO AN O'REILLYS AUTO PARTS SO THEY COULD RUN A DIAGNOSTICS, THEN CALL THE DEALERSHIP BACK FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION. AFTER DOING THIS WE WERE ADVICED TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO A DEALERSHIP, AND WE DID. IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE BULLENTINES OUT ON THE PARTICULAR VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. I REACHED OUT TO GMC, THEY REPLIED THAT THE PART IS CURRENTLY EXHAUSTED, THE PART REMAINS ON BACK ORDER, AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT WILL BE BACK IN INVENTORY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO US LEAVING OUR HOME 40 MINUTES EARLIER. IF THIS BREAK DOWN HAPPENS OFTEN THEN A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.

The stereo/infotainment system in my truck attempted to do an over the air update at some point and it failed. Now it is stuck on a screen telling me that I have to take it to a dealership to get it fixed. I did so and there saying that I need a whole new stereo. Just wondering how this isn’t covered by Chevrolet when it’s such a known problem with these stereos. Also while all this is going on and the stereo is stuck on this screen it doesn’t allow any of the infotainment lights to be dimmed and while driving at night this is very dangerous to the driver and others as you cannot see as well with the infotainment system lights brightly shining in the drivers face while driving.

"While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of propulsion/acceleration due to internal failure of the 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission. The failure occurred without prior warning, creating an immediate highway safety hazard by leaving the vehicle unable to maintain speed in traffic. A professional mechanic diagnosed the issue as a catastrophic torque converter failure that contaminated the entire transmission system with metal debris, requiring a complete out-of-pocket rebuild." This resulted in having to pay $4,800 plus tax in such a rough economy.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption at 2,600 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a blown engine. The engine was replaced; however, the contact stated that the replacement engine continued to consume a significant amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the replacement engine was diagnosed with premature engine failure at 37,100 miles. The contact stated that during the engine failure, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine and transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer every 1,000 miles for oil to be added due to the excessive oil consumption. The dealer confirmed the initial engine failure and the premature failure with the replacement engine. The failure mileage was 37,100.

I was driving down the highway doing 70mph when my check engine light started flashing. I had to pull over and turn off my truck and turn it back on in order for it to go away. I brought it to the dealership and they explained that I had a misfire on the entire driver side of the engine and I would need to replace it. I have kept up on all of my vehicle maintenance but it still requires a new engine, costing $11,000 if not covered under warranty. This is a known problem with the Chevrolet 6.2L V8 engine and is now a class action lawsuit with the company.
