The front upper control arm failed and the driver side wheel collapsed. There was no warning. Luckily I wasn’t pulling my RV camper down a mountain, it could have been catastrophic . I towed it to Carson Chevrolet. They gave me an estimate of $6,000 + for repairs. They had no reasonable explanation.

- #11758511August 21, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to crank. The contact originally suspected a battery failure, as the vehicle had recently been involved in an accident that left the passenger-side mirror damaged with exposed wires. While driving at 70 MPH, a semi-truck sideswiped the passenger-side of the vehicle, causing a dent on the front door and a fractured side-view mirror. The semi-truck driver did not stop, and the contact's son drove the vehicle to the nearest exit. No air bags deployed, no warning lights illuminated, and no injuries were reported. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to a collision center, where it was determined that the battery was not the cause of the starting failure. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with camshaft, timing belt, and actuator failures. Upon removing the camshaft, metal shavings were found inside the engine, and the dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,733.

On [XXX], my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 (VIN: [XXX]) underwent GM's safety recall service for the 6.2L L87 V8 engine (Recall N252494000 / Special Coverage N252494003). The vehicle passed dealer inspection and received the prescribed higher-viscosity oil and calibration remedy. On [XXX], at 25,287 miles—less than five months and a few thousand miles after the recall was performed—the engine suffered a catastrophic internal mechanical failure, resulting in a sudden and complete loss of propulsion while I was getting off of the freeway. I had to coast to a stop on the side of the road. I had it towed to Murcock Chevrolet. The vehicle was serviced at Murdock Chevrolet (Woods Cross, UT), where technicians confirmed the internal failure and completed a full engine long-block replacement under GM Special Coverage warranty (Invoice total: $10,852.26). GM's initial recall remedy failed to prevent catastrophic failure, posing a serious safety hazard due to unexpected propulsion loss while operating the vehicle. Component/system failed: The 6.2L L87 engine. The engine ultimately seized and the vehicle became inoperable. The engine should be available for inspection because it is being replaced under GM Special Coverage N252494003. Safety risk: The engine unexpectedly shut off while driving at highway speeds. Loss of propulsion in traffic creates a significant collision risk. The inability to restart left the vehicle disabled. Confirmed: An independent repair facility confirmed that the engine was seized prior to towing it to the GM dealer. Yesterday the GM dealer confirmed i had a seized engine and it was going to be replacement under N252494003 special coverage entention. Inspections: My truck was inspected in October 25, for the recall. My truck passed this test, and was subsequently was told my oil spec has been revised. Warnings/symptoms: no warning was given

While driving at a speed of around 40 mph on a paved city street in Bozeman, MT, I heard and felt a Super loud clunk in my Chevy engine transmission or drive train.. I immediately stopped to see if something ran into the vehicle. No apparent visual damage of any kind. It felt and sounded like like something jammed within the transmission or drive train. The truck has less than 12k miles and has been babied so far. I love the truck. Oil level is normal and nothing leaking underneath..I took it immediately to Billion GMC in Bozeman. They found nothing wrong however the service manager recounted this regarding another customer who described the exact same issue with the same year vehicle and same transmission: Another GMC owner experienced the same symptom before the transmission seized at highway speed and locked the wheels. Because this presents a potential loss-of-control hazard, I am requesting that Chevrolet open a Technical Assistance Center case, document all diagnostic findings in writing, and determine whether the vehicle is safe to operate before returning it to me. The service manager who recounted this event is named Jay.

On or about XXX the engine in my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado quit running so I had it towed to Daniels Long Chevrolet in [XXX] where I had purchased it new on or about XXX. My truck was bought with the 6.2 L V8 engine, and it had approximately 8,627 miles on it when the engine had quit running on XXX. The first oil change on the truck was performed at approximately 5,000 miles at Daniels Long Chevrolet with the prescribed oil. There was no warning when the engine quit running other than the engine running rough and having a loss of power about two blocks from my house. I then had the truck towed to Daniels Long Chevrolet for repairs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after the vehicle was parked and turned off, the contact returned and discovered that the vehicle had caught fire. There was smoke coming from the center console below the radio. The contact extinguished the fire with a juice bottle. The Police and Firefighters arrived at the scene, and the firefighters hose down the battery. The contact was unaware whether a Police or Fire Department report had been filed. The vehicle was towed to a storage unit and was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The contact stated that two days before the vehicle caught on fire, the brake lights were inoperable. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the driver's side brake light bulb had melted, and the rear driver's side turn signal was inoperable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

After having the original '25 6.2L GM L87 engine experience crankshaft bearing failure at approx. 5,700 mi, (previously reported to the NHTSA), the (brand new) replacement engine failed approx. 14,000 mi. later for the exact same reason, crankshaft bearing failure. In both incidents, the failure came 100% without warning, and the transmission LOCKED itself into park, leaving the vehicle and myself dangerously stranded in the middle of the highway; it had to be dragged on and off of the flat-bed tow truck both times.

Component Affected: Visibility: Interior Trim / Entertainment Center Bezel Glare Description of Safety Hazard:The interior styling of the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado RST contains a design flaw involving the polished chrome trim strip located directly below the main central entertainment center/infotainment screen. Because of the angle of this specific trim piece relative to the driver's seating position, direct sunlight hits this lower screen border and reflects a concentrated, blinding glare directly into the driver’s eyes. This causes immediate, severe visual impairment and a temporary loss of forward visibility while driving. This distraction and blindness prevent the driver from safely observing the road and traffic, creating an imminent crash hazard. The manufacturer has failed to provide a non-reflective, matte finish for this specific entertainment center trim to prevent this hazard.
