Driving down the road at 60 mph the engine shut off with no warning. Dash told me to restart vehicle. Pulled over to safety and attempted to restart. When attempting to restart it would not even crank. No check engine light or problems prior to failure. Had lifters and camshaft replaced at 55,000 miles and at 60,000 miles the engine seized with no warning. Changed oil every 5,000 miles. No warning lights. Engine seized and replaced by dealer under factory warranty.

2021 Chevy Silverado RST 6.2 Crankshaft Failure – Trust bearing / Main Bearing – Verified by GM dealership. This incident occurred without any prior warning indicators. The check engine light illuminated only after the engine began to seize, and the engine abruptly stalled. At the time of the failure, the vehicle was traveling at 60 MPH on a busy highway. Upon the event, the vehicle came to an immediate stop and could not be restarted. The engine failed to turn over, rendering the vehicle inoperable and partially obstructing traffic. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a local General Motors dealership, where it was determined that the failure was due to a crankshaft thrust and main bearing issue. The vehicle has 27,000 miles on the odometer.

- #11637600January 22, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
When all the brake settings are set to factory and I back out of my vehicle onto the main road in front of my driveway the vehicle will occasionally detect something and lock the vehicle in park with emergency brake engaged. I then have to put the vehicle in drive all this while oncoming traffic may or may not be oncoming. The brake engagement happens if the corn in the field is blowing the right way or shadows from the tress. I had this into the dealer and also contacted the manufacture. They both told me to turn off all the safety features so this wouldn't happen or do not back out of my driveway.

The vehicle burns oil and has from the very first oil change. The dealer is stating the oil needs to be changed more often (5k as opposed to 7500 per the manual) to mitigate the fact the vehicle is burning oil. Currently I am hearing lifter tick at cold start and believe the vehicle is on its way to experiencing engine failure of which your organization is already looking into. I am reporting this to help with your investigation. Please feel free to call with any questions. Thank you. I have just been made aware that there is a lot going on right now with the l87 6.2 motor. I purchased my truck last September so I e had it almost a year 1/2. I recently started having what seems like a misfire issue as of 1/20/2025. I have it scheduled to be checked out Friday 1/24/2025. I’m just reporting this to cover my back if any recall or anything comes about. In addition I’ve had regular oil changes and maintenance on the truck. It’s currently inspected and insured.

When I first purchased my new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST(6.2L Engine), i noticed a knocking noise under acceleration around 3-5000 miles. I took the truck into Tom Naquin Chevrolet for my first oil change around the 5k mile mark and notified them of the noise. And over the course of the next couple years, i mentioned the knocking noise every time I took it to Naquins, every 5k miles. Chevrolet deemed the noise as normal and told the dealership to perform no further inspections on the motor. The last two oil changes, I notified the dealership that the noise was getting worse and more noticeable when slightly accelerating. They heard the noise and reached out to chevrolet again and the same thing, they deemed it as normal and advised the dealership to not further investigate. Fast forward to November 30th, 2024, I had my family in the truck and we were driving back from getting a Christmas tree. When we left the tree farm, i noticed the knocking noise was significant and I had no power when accelerating. I dropped my wife and kids off and took my truck straight to the dealership. The second i pulled in, the truck shut off and the motor seized up. It has been at the dealership since that day and the replacement engine is still on backorder with no ETA provided.

Vehicle has been in and out of service for the past 5 months with multiple alerts including "Brake system failure 43mph top speed," "service esc," "service brake assist." On major interstate car would not accelerate past 43mph putting myself, infant, toddler, and wife in danger. Multiple attempts have been made to repair the vehicle and nothing has been successful. Lifters, CAM, torque converter, EBCM, master cylinder, calipers, and the list goes on. When this happens the brake is extremely hard to press making it difficult to stop the vehicle. Issue has been reproduced by dealer and attempts have been made under warranty to repair. Car only has 36k miles on it and the issue began prior to that. GM ongoing solution is to bleed the brakes, which clearly has not resolved the issue. Still hear ticking and noises from engine. Something needs to be done to remedy this issue. This is a safety hazard for myself, my family, and everyone driving around me.

My trucks engine failed when I was driving on the highway with my family in the vehicle. The truck lost power and struggled to get off on the side of the road. Truck has been at the dealership since 25 Nov 2024 with still no diagnostics. GM is claiming they will not replace due to lift on the truck which has nothing to do with all these engine failures. Last contact from dealership was 27 Dec 2024.

Vehicle loses power when entering roadway. Vehicle fires at idle. Vehicle dies on roadway. Vehicle lurches aggressively without control. Vehicle shifts erratically and with aggression. DEALER STATED GM known issue where wires were run to the oxygen sensor wrong. Run across exhaust pipe. Exhaust melted wires to O2 and caused a short which computer poorly responds to.
