On Sunday [XXX] , while driving my Cadillac Escalade 2022 with a 6.2L V8 engine on [XXX] at 70 mph, my vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. This put me in immediate danger, as I was in the left lane and had to quickly maneuver to the right emergency lane to avoid a complete stop in moving traffic. During this emergency maneuver, vehicles behind me nearly crashed into me, creating a high risk of a serious, potentially fatal accident. There were no warning lights or prior indications before the sudden loss of power, making this issue extremely hazardous. Given recent reports about engine failures in GM’s L87 V8 models, I strongly believe my vehicle is affected by the same manufacturing defect. I am requesting an urgent investigation by NHTSA, as this issue poses a severe risk to all drivers. Additionally, I would like to know if there are any recalls or technical service bulletins (TSBs) from GM regarding this problem. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise me on any next steps I should take. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Complete engine failure with no prior warning and vehicle is currently at dealer waiting for new engine to arrive. The lives of myself and my children were at risk as the engine failure occurred while traveling at about 55 mph on a rural country road with cars having to swerve around me before I came to a complete stop on the shoulder of road. Again there was no prior warning or warning lights on the vehicle. The Cadillac dealership in Texarkana has inspected the vehicle and determined the engine failed and needs a completely new engine.

In August 2022, with only 9,875 miles, the engine of my 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV ceased. While alternating lanes of a freeway onramp, my vehicle completely shut down. Not only was it inoperable, it was also unable to be shifted into neutral to be moved out of traffic. It was then towed to the nearest Cadillac. After several days I was notified that the engine had ceased and there there were currently no replacements available. It was in the shop for over 7 weeks before being repaired. In August 2024, with 43,050 miles, the engine ceased again! Without warning, after passing through an intersection, my Escalade completely shut down and was inoperable and unable to be moved. It was towed in to the nearest Cadillac dealership where it was Later confirmed that the engine had in fact seized for the second time since purchase. This time it was in the shop for over 5 weeks, awaiting an engine replacement. In addition to the 2 engine failures, it has been in the shop for multiple electrical issues including malfunction of motorized running boards, control panel display going black, battery dying, transmission codes, and auto starting in my garage multiple times.

Vehicle is available to inspect after repair if requested. Lifter valves Engine failure confirmed by dealership. Safety was serious concern as Engine failed in middle road with family in vehicle during heavy traffic. Could have lost control of vehicle as Engine went haywire. 45,997 miles. No warnings signs before complete failure. Just completed a road trip day prior with no issues.

I was on highway and car all the sudden started slowing down and stopped completely and I wasn’t able to start it back. I had to tow it to closest dealership It happened [XXX] 9/16/2024 car was transferred to another dealership cadillac of Manhattan. And it had been there and as of today 1/21/2025 isn’t fixed. On a top dealership made me pay $440 out the pocket and I’m gonna have to pay $2590 for fuel tank even though car is still under manufacture warranty and should be covered bumper to bumper. Car full of kids, going down the expressway in the fast lane the car completely shuts off with no warning. I had to merge four lanes to get to the side of the road and my kids and I could have been in huge trouble if I didn’t remain calm. Once parked the car would not go back into neutral and the town truck had to drag our car with brand new tires onto the truck. I’m livid. The dealership Al Serra Grand Blanc MI confirmed it was the motor and they are now on back order. It’s been there a month.

While driving, I noticed a very distinct knocking sound, that changed frequency and tone depending on how fast the engine was spinning or how warm it was. This noise I only noticed while walking outside the car or with the windows down. As a mechanical engineer, I knew something was terribly wrong with the internal parts of the engine (lifters, cam, main bearings, etc) as this type of sound I am familiar with in pre-emptive engine failure. I made an appointment with my local dealer (Massey Cadillac South - Orlando). I took it in. Within an hour of it being there, they asked me to leave and took me to a Hertz to get a loaner. I called a week later asking where my car is, they said they are waiting on a complete engine. I was shocked as the vehicle has under 47,000 miles on it. I am still without the vehicle 6 weeks later. Doing searches I noticed there are thousands of others with the same issue as mine and GM is well aware of this engine failure issue with their bulletins that they send to dealers. I am happy to have made it to the dealer without incident, however if it was my wife driving the vehicle, she would not have noticed the noise. She thought the noise it made was normal. Again, I am experienced to notice noises like this. GM should have recalled these vehicles MANY years ago.

Back in April of 2024 when the truck only had about 16,500 miles on it the engine went out causing steering to become heavy and braking to become very hard. This happened on a highway going about 65-70mph. The should was very narrow causing the truck to kind of protrude into the roadway, almost got hit by several cars, trucks with trailer going by. Called the on star folks and they were very poor to respond quickly, they had the police come, however there was an accident that happened further up and he left to tend to that accident. The engine ended up having to be replaced and that took a very long time. Now I have 22k miles on the truck and have had nothing but constant issues with the air ride suspension. I have taken it to two separate Cadillac dealerships and neither fixed the issue, they said they fixed the issue but I keep having the issue. Now, what the truck is doing is basically and randomly going from over inflation to under inflation. When it over inflates the truck feels too heavy and like it wants to topple on the highway…so I have to slow way down. When the truck under inflates the ride becomes unbearably rough. This all happens randomly with no input from me while driving, a message simply pops up on the screen saying service leveling system vehicle either too high or too low. I now have taken the truck to a Chevrolet dealership to see if they can’t resolve the issue.

I have a 6 month old Escalade with approximately 7,000 miles. On Wednesday, 01/08/2025, I was driving on a highway with my son, going approximately 65 mph when my car display suddenly alerted "Going into Neutral". I had moments to get to the shoulder before my car stopped. I then turned my car off and attempted to restart it. The engine would not turn on and I could not get the car out of park (not even into neutral). Following an over 4 hour wait to be towed to the nearest Cadillac Dealership, when my husband described what had happened, the mechanic asked "how many miles are on it?" When my husband informed him "about 7,000", the mechanic then replied "yeah, that sounds about right." To me, this infers that Cadillac is aware of this incredibly dangerous problem and has not recalled vehicles to address this. The car has been at the dealership for 4 days now and no diagnostics have been run at this time to see what the issue is. We have called Cadillac directly and there does not seem to be any concern about what happened to me. I honestly am traumatized at the thought of what could have happened to my son and myself had I not acted so quickly. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. I am so thankful that I was able to get to the shoulder before my car shut off completely but I easily could have been slammed into many times, as the highway I was driving on frequently has cars traveling 70 to 80 mph. Cadillac must be held accountable for the safety of their drivers, customers and families.

UNKNOWN. The car decelerated on the freeway from 80 mph by automatically going into N. Once we managed to pull over to the shoulder, the car would not turn on again or shift gears. The dealership thinks it's an engine failure and they have multiple escalades in the shop for the same issue.

I was driving up a hill passing a semi at 60 MPH. The engine suddenly stopped running without warning. No warning lights, only a restart engine notice. The vehicle rapidly slowed and I was able to pull over to the shoulder without being hit by the semi. Unfortunately the vehicle came to rest at the crest of a large hill, at the end of a merge lane. It was a very dangerous place to stop. Onstar Called the Missouri Highway Patrol, the officer arrived and agreed it was in a very dangerous location and called a local towing company to remove the vehicle as quickly as possible. The vehicle could not be restarted or pushed as the transmission was also locked when we came to a stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the next day I was told the engine had seized and would need to be replaced. The Escallade only had 25,000 miles on the odometer and I had purchased it new 2021. The service manager stated the failed engine would be sent back to GM, but this was a common problem with that model engine (6.2L) and that it may take a while to find a new replacement engine

1. 01/09/2024 engine failure on freeway No warning, no noise, just all of sudden 2. Pull back to Dealership One day later, they said engine would need to REPLACE, and saying they have engine in stock and can replace IMMD. *** Crestview Cadillac 3. Bodyshop mentioned 4 same type of vehicle has the same issue 4. I talked to CS with Cadillac, but they turned down the buy back 5. Then I submitted the complaint to BBB Autoline, they JUST called me today saying they won’t able to buy back Instead of offer some Cadillac point. *** I refused, I told her this is beyond normal, and Cadillac is aware safety issue on this engine. The rep said they did the recall last year, but I explained to her that even worse, after fixing the safety issue still existed I am lucky the engine failure was on sunny day, imagine it was in raining day I already dead.

- #11572391February 16, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I had my 2021 Cadillac Escalade esv vehicle service twice at the dealership of purchase regarding the vehicle gear shifting on its own and dragging. The service advisor said they couldn’t find a problem with the vehicle. He told bring it back if it does it again. [XXX] the problem occurred twice in one day. I thought maybe I had bumped it out of gear inadvertently. I started looking down every time I touched the gear shift to assure it was the correct setting. I booked appointment service via my phone 2/11/24 for [XXX] service. I was at the car wash drive thru [XXX] my vehicle was in neutral coming off the conveyor belt. As I attempted to pressed the shift toggle to change gear my vehicle made a weird noise . I never got the chance to shift to drive. Grinding pulling noise like it was stuck. My vehicle shot forward like something catapulted. My vehicle hit another vehicle before hitting a wall. My air front air bag never deployed. The collision avoidance did not engage or signal. I don’t understand how a vehicle can shift it self in and out of gear on its own. If I’m doing 25 mile the vehicle shouldn’t make rpm act like I’m doing 100. Also if I’m doing 70 mile the vehicle should not shift down while pressing the gas pedal. Had they listened to me and took what I was saying seriously this would have never happened.
