SummaryOn vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, a steering warning may briefly display in the instrument cluster when the engine is restarted after improper use of the clutch pedal. For example, the warning may appear when the engine is restarted after the clutch pedal has been released too quickly during low-RPM, low-speed parking lot maneuvers. A yellow steering warning symbol with the message ?Steering fault. You can continue driving.? A red steering warning symbol with the message ?Steering defective. Do not drive the vehicle.? Codes may be stored in the diagnostic log under the power steering control module. The vehicle system voltage drops when the starter motor is operating. Because the power steering control module has a parallel circuit with the starter motor (terminal 29), this normal voltage drop may set a symptom code within the scenario described in the Condition section of this bulletin.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 12-30 dated June 26, 2012. The driver information system (DIS) display screen is completely blank or appears to be all white The condition is intermittent and the DIS can function normally when the key is cycled off and back on. This condition only affects vehicles with the highline instrument cluster. The issue is attributed to incorrect software for clusters with the Hitachi display screen.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 10-02 dated September 14, 2010. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the vehicle's engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 12-33 dated October 22, 2012. After replacing the electromechanical steering with the control unit J500, the unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. All new replacement power steering control units (J500) must be coded and parameterized using online SVM spec/actual or an SVM code. If the SVM spec/actual returns a response of ?Check Hardware?, then the SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new replacement control unit. The SVM code can be found in Parts Bulletin 9-97, which is available online through ETKA.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-20 dated October 21, 2011. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 97 number 13-36 dated July 10, 2013. The vehicle alarm activates for no reason and it cannot be turned off. The alarm horn does not work. DTC/fault symptom combinations are found in the comfort system control module. The DTC can be static or sporadic. The wiring harness insulation for the alarm horn can be damaged during the vehicle production assembly. Because the cable is routed through the plenum chamber, water can enter into the cable via the damaged insulation. The water causes the alarm to activate for no reason or it causes the alarm horn to not work.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-43 dated July 12, 2013. Air conditioning is inoperative. The HVAC blower functions normally. The A/C pressure/temperature sensor, G395, leaks refrigerant. This causes sensor G395 to show an incorrect or implausible value when reading MVBs. An incorrect signal or a low refrigerant level in the system can cause the air conditioning compressor to deactivate. Battery discharged; however, when charged, there is no bus silence when vehicle ignition is off. The LIN cable connecting the vehicle electrical system control module, J519, to sensor G395 is pinched or cut. This affects the A4/S4, A5/S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and Q5 vehicles. The A6 and A8 are not affected by this type of failure. The pressure sensor G395/G65 sends an incorrect signal that prevents bus silence and the battery is discharged. Sensor G395 is a LIN slave of the vehicle electrical system control module. The vehicle electrical system control module transfers the information provided by the sensor via the comfort data bus to the climate control module, J255.

SummaryAudi Lane Change Assistant deactivates or is sporadically inoperative when the vehicle is driven in slow-moving stop-and-go traffic, especially on roads with multiple lanes. The message "Audi side assist unavailable: Sensors blocked" appears in the driver information system. The system is able to be activated approximately ten minutes after the traffic condition is removed, or after an ignition cycle. Audi Lane Change Assistant can be activated without issue. No obstructions can be found. DTCs are stored in the Lane Change Assistance control module. The control module mounting brackets are securely fastened to the lower rear bumper, and no damage is found to the rear bumper area, on the inside or outside. (If any damage is found, it is not covered under warranty.) The control module mounting brackets are not broken or loose. If a loose bracket is found, repair as necessary using the Elsa Repair Manual. Submit a separate warranty claim, as this TSB does not cover this repair. The software of the Lane Change Assistance control module can deactivate the Audi Side Assist system in certain normal driving conditions because the nature of these driving conditions make it difficult for the Audi Side Assist system to track vehicles.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 12-26 dated October 23, 2012. The yellow warning for electromechanical parking park (EPB) appeared once in the instrument cluster. The warning turned off after the ignition was cycled, and there have not been additional occurrences. EPB function was not affected. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) was inoperative once, but it resumed proper operation after the ignition was cycled, and there have not been additional occurrences. DTCs are logged in the EPB control module. There is an issue with the software in the EPB control module that occurs one time. Because the issue only occurs once, replacing the control module could cause an additional occurrence.
