SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 13-44 dated October 22, 2013. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine, and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner?s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, and the ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors include the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Utilizing the advanced sensor technology integrated in models equipped with the 3.0 TFSI engine, it is possible to measure oil consumption electronically via a Guided Function test plan. If the electronic oil consumption test is not available for this model, perform the test with the conventional scale/oil weighing method. See TSB 2018550 for instructions for the conventional scale/oil weighing method.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-25 dated November 29, 2011. The navigation DVD or other CD/DVD cannot be ejected. There are no DTCs stored in the corresponding module. The eject button is not stuck. When the eject button is pushed, the drive does not sound as if it is trying to eject the CD/DVD. Vehicles with DVD-based navigation systems now have the navigation DVD installed during production. To prevent theft of the DVD during transportation, the eject button of the navigation drive is disabled. The navigation system itself (e.g., route guidance) functions as specified. The eject buttons of vehicles without DVD-based navigation systems are not disabled during production, but could behave as described in the Condition section of this bulletin. The eject button can be enabled through Guided Fault Finding.

SummaryRough idle or reduced driving power and, in turn, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 28G6 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale. A faulty ignition coil can result in rough idling or reduced driving power and, in turn, cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster to illuminate due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-31 dated September 25, 2013. MIL on. Customer may report loss of performance. DTC P008700 (fuel rail pressure too low) may be stored in the engine control module, J623 (address word 01). Under extreme driving conditions with the A/C compressor switched off (e.g., long idle periods or extended stop-and-go traffic), high temperatures can build up in the fuel rail and may lead to fluctuations in fuel pressure, possibly causing DTC P008700 to be stored. Coolant temperature above 102?C in the freeze frame data can be an indicator of those extreme driving conditions.

SummaryUnder certain conditions, permanent mode $0A DTC codes concerning the fuel pump power stage module may remain visible after the vehicle?s OBD system has run the proper monitors successfully to allow the DTC to be erased by the system, after a proper repair. This software malfunction may cause vehicle to not pass IM inspection programs. This software update eliminates specific permanent DTC codes stored in mode $0A of the ECM. All other DTC storage functions remain unaffected. This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 24AD code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the Federal Emissions Warranty. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 69 number 12-25 dated April 25, 2012. After the airbag control module (J234) has been replaced, the control unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. An SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new service replacement airbag control module. Each model?s SVM code is provided in a parts bulletin (GP bulletin), which should have been referenced through ETKA when the module was replaced. The control module cannot be coded until the SVM code has been executed.
