EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Over time, I noticed the low beam headlights seemed dimmer and attributed it to my older eyes and night driving. (the high beams work great) Yes, it's available for inspection Currently it's nearly impossible to drive at night without using the high beams. This is only an option when there's no oncoming traffic. There have been times when I've had to use the high beams with an oncoming car (safety issue) or stop driving until I can safely use the high beams again. We don't use the car at night! The above issue makes it unsafe for us to drive in the dark. While we haven't had any accidents, the possibility is extremely high under these conditions. I had the car evaluated for the issue, they suggested calling an Acura dealer. Their cost to replace the headlights is $3145.71. I've read all over the internet and on this site, the number of drivers with the same issue. Similar years and other models have been recalled for this issue. Please address this concern. Thank you

TIRES:TREAD/BELT
While traveling on the interstate during the earl morning of May 2, 2025 for roughly 40 miles, the center part of the tread came off completely, causing about $6000 in damage to our vehicle. Even after the tread came off, the tire stayed inflated. The tire had been on the vehilce for about 3 months with approximately 2000 miles on it. The police came to secure the scene while the Emergency Repair Service changed the tire. No police report was made and there were no injuries.

It was raining and I was sat at a stop light. The brakes started to slip a little no matter how much I pressed then all of a sudden the entire car started shutting down. Engine, Transmission, Power Steering, Lane Keep Assist, Collision warning, all the lights started flashing. The car was put into Limp mode.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I was driving in a rainstorm with my windshield wipers on. The wipers spasmed and then stopped. I tried several things, but the wipers would not work and I had to have the car towed to the dealership because it was not safe to drive in the rain. The inspection indicates that the windshield wiper motor has to be replaced. I looked and saw that there are several notices about this issue on Acura RDXs in my year and it's clearly a safety issue as it stopped while I was driving in the rain.

The contact's owns a 2015 Acura RDX. The contact stated that the front headlights had become dim, which made it difficult and unsafe to operate the vehicle while driving at night. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V792000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Re: Safety Concerns with 2015 Acura RDX Engine. My vehicle has experienced multiple serious engine failures beginning December 8, 2023, when it suddenly lost power while driving with a flashing check engine light. Despite multiple repair attempts by McDaniel's Acura dealership (timing belt replacement, spark plugs, front cylinder head replacement, pulley replacements), the issues have persisted and worsened. Technicians found oil in cylinders 1&3, metal debris in the oil filter, and diagnosed the engine as failing in May 2024. Current symptoms include white smoke from the tailpipe, engine rattling, and ongoing risk of sudden failure. This vehicle was leased new in 2015, purchased after lease term, and consistently maintained at Acura dealerships. Despite opening two cases with Acura Client Relations (#14622769 on April 29 and #14633862 on May 6, 2024), Honda Financial declined assistance. The dealership only offered a trade-in "incentive" while admitting they couldn't resell my vehicle due to its condition, and would instead auction in off. I'm unable to safely use this as my primary transportation. Similar engines have had multiple recalls between 2018-2023, including a December 2023 recall of 2.6 million vehicles for fuel pump issues and recalls for connecting rod bearings in similar engines. In November 2024, NHTSA began investigating 1.4 million Honda/Acura V6 engines for rod bearing failures. I request NHTSA investigate whether this represents a broader safety defect affecting other Acura RDX vehicles. Service records from December 2023-May 2024 are attached as documentation of all repair attempts and diagnoses by authorized Acura technicians.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Have replaced low beam headlight bulbs multiple times within weeks/months of each time for months now. Low beam is so dim that vehicle is unsafe to drive at night without turning on high beams. Something is more wrong than just the bulb. Taken to repair shop each time. Changing bulbs works for a few days then no light happens again. What do I do???

The contact owns a 2018 Acura RDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle started sputtering and almost stalled. The contact stated that there was a yellow exclamation mark on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

POWER TRAIN
Under full throttle acceleration while merging onto highway the car would not deliver power and the check engine started flashing. Pressing the accelerator did not make the car go. I had to pull over and stop the car. I turned it off and turned it back on and was able to drive away. Both times, the weather was very humid and I was merging on a ramp that had an uphill incline. This happened twice within a few days. The first time was on 3-MAY-2025 and the second time was on 5-MAY-2025

As I was turning a corner, my steering wheel completely locked up on me. I was stuck in the middle of the street trying to get my car to turn into our driveway. Thankfully, I was able to alert incoming traffic through my horn that I was there and stuck. This could’ve been a near death experience and I am uncomfortable driving any Acuras at this time.

STEERING
Twice now, with two brand new 2025 Acura RDX of mine the power steering failed while I was driving. My first new car was purchased in January 2025, I had 414 miles on the car when the power steering was lost and the car was pulling me in one direction. I struggled but managed to get the car to a safe location and waited to be towed to the dealer. The dealer was nice enough to order me another RDX which I received in March. The car had 435 miles on it when while I was driving the power steering failed and the car was extremely hard to steer. Again, I struggled but managed to get to a safe location. I'm glad I don't live in an area where there are sharp curves in the road or I would have been doomed. The car is now at the dealer. I am going to ask for a full refund to purchase another brand. I'm terrified to get back into another RDX. I can't possibly be the only person who has experienced this.

POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
[XXX] on [XXX], traveling 70mph on busy highway, blind spot monitoring failed, gear display failed, and check transmission message flashed across display. Had to guide car safety off road and into parking lot. This was first time ever happened. Did not know what was going on or what was happening; safety features like blind spot monitoring (especially after becoming accustomed to) failing all of sudden could have caused a major accident by inadvertently cutting someone off, decrease in speed, etc. Turned vehicle off and all lights disappeared. Had car looked at by Honda Dealership next morning; notified it was a P0741 code and failed torque converter. These systems apparently always go down with this code. Told it was associated with known issue of SB23-029 after they consulted with a local Acura dealership. They were told Acura sees this all the time and a torque converter would repair issues I had. Stuck with almost $5k repair bill for a global issue because out of mileage extended warranty. Spoke with Honda representative Naomi (claim#[XXX]) advised of situation, was asked to provide a bunch of personal information not containing to claim over nearly two weeks, and then told I was denied assistance because system wouldn't take, I was not original owner, and out of mileage. This should not be a SB; THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! I'm seeking legal representation and looking at options to recover losses from Honda negligence. This was a spontaneous explosion of the rear lift gate window. The car was not even turned on; I had just gotten into it. There was a sound like a gunshot, followed by glass shattering both into and outside the car. I dropped immediately in the seat, and when I started breathing again, I got out of the car, and saw the window. Thanks to my grandson’s research, I now know this is, and has been, an issue with the Acura RDX. There. was absolutely no warning prior to this occurrence.

While my wife was driving on the highway going about 50mph, the rear window suddenly shattered without any apparent cause, startling her. Fortunately, she didn't yank on the steering wheel and was able to pull over safely. After conducting some research, I discovered that this is a known issue affecting 2019–2023 Acura RDX models and is currently the subject of a pending class action lawsuit. The window was inspected and will be replaced by our car insurance.

STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Respected Sir/Madam, I am filing this complaint about a road incident that occurred on [XXX] near [XXX] that resulted in a total car loss for me, [XXX] , wife of [XXX] (jointly insured through GEICO Auto Insurance ). I am a responsible driver with no history of at-fault collisions, and I suffered severe mental pressure and miraculously survived a near-death experience due to this incident, which involved no other vehicle (not an actual crash). Two airbags were deployed, and I escaped with small injuries thanks to the grace of almighty god. I am attaching a copy of the police report of the incident. The incident describes that the car skidded from right to left to right on the same lane before toppling over. As far as I could tell the vehicle was trying to correct itself which led to it overcorrecting and causing it to go back and forth before toppling over and landing on the side. It is our opinion that on a day where there was no natural constraint (rain, snow, or wind), a car toppling is a big shock! I firmly believe that negligent driving was not the cause of this incident because there was no turn, no bend, or no car in front or behind to slam the brakes suddenly. This, I believe, is purely the result of a software failure of the Acura car (probably to do with lane departure and automatic braking) that has caused a topple of such a heavy magnitude. I believe that this near-death experience is solely the fault of ‘Acura’, the car company that manufactured the 2022 Acura RDX AWD . I am registering this as a formal complaint today { 4/25/2025 } in Farmington Hills at [XXX] , Zip: [XXX] against Acura. I would like the bureau to obtain compensation of 1 Million US Dollars from Acura for a near-death experience and severe mental strain that [XXX] and I encountered due to this incident. Headlights have grown dim. The bulbs have been replaced multiple times to find a bright enough bulb, to no avail. Approximate visual distance at night in unlit areas is less than 25'. This is a safety hazard because this does not allow enough time to avoid impacts.
